This story starts out with the danger clearly shown.  It makes for a good start.  Then things slow down a bit for a while.  A lot of that has to do with Hazel as she is being hidden by Heath and we get to know his family.  Hazel only gets to see snippets of his family as she is hiding. That part is sweet and so is Hazel getting to know Heath.  Don't worry though, the danger to Hazel is still out there and there will be an uptick of it towards the end.

Hazel has a fair amount of British slang which I felt might have been a bit overdone.  And even her mother says she has a motor mouth.  Heath is an overworked businessman who is honorable all the way through.  It doesn't take long for the two of them to be strongly attracted to each other.  It's a clean romance though, just in case you were wondering. 

Austin, the Strong family youngest brother was ten years old and added quite a bit of fun and humor. 

Everything comes to a good conclusion and a H.E.A.

It started out strong and grabbed my attention.  The it felt like it went downhill after a while.  Probably because the families got over involved.

This has a strong Christian theme with plenty of scriptures and asking for guidance.  I didn't have a problem with that.  I did however have a problem with all the manipulation going on. And it wasn't just from James, although it might look like it at first. 

It was good to see the strong family unity from Neka's family.  But it also irritated me on how much pressure they put on her to see things their way.  Even her sisters get in on the act, that made for way too many opinions. Okay, her parents were protective but they also still treated her like she was 10 years old.  Her mother and father in particular I began to dislike a lot.  They kept telling her to look to Jesus for guidance.  I know your supposed to honor your mother and father but it began to feel like obedience to them was more important than obedience to Christ.   At times it felt like they were using scripture to have things go the way THEY thought they knew best.  Not a fan of that at any time.  

The story comes to a good conclusion ending with a H.E.A.

This story had potential. It was an emotional story with good main characters that I wanted to like a lot more than I actually did.  It just felt like a bit too much angst and rehashing of several major points.  And it was over and over.  Like Caleb and his guilt about wanting his best friend Clint's wife.  Clint and Caleb had been like brothers. And while Clint had been a good man, Caleb felt/knew he fell way short of that.  He also knew very well his other shortcomings.  He didn't even really see his good points.

Ellie and Caleb were slotted firmly in the friends category.   He had been there for her in the tough, dark days after Clint's death.  But she also hadn't moved on.  She was just surviving for her daughter Amelia.   This was also another spot where it felt like it lingered too long on. Then she comes up with an outrageous wish list that lead to some HOT scenes.  

Caleb's family definitely was dysfunctional with a capital "D".  They were working through some things though.  Some pretty heavy things. 

The story does have a H.E.A. with an Epilogue included. 

 

 

BOOK REVIEW- Kidnapping the Brazilian Tycoon (The Brazilians Book 1) by Carmen Falcone *

 I liked this story although I can't say that it's a favorite.  It did have it's moments though.  It had moments of humor, sweetness, sexual heat and emotions  There were plenty of emotions and from more than one source and reasons.
I liked part of the story that had to do with the Tuanis tribe.  
Bruno had a dark secret and it was quite the surprise.  Serena was a part of that secret and though she didn't seem to want to cause trouble, she just couldn't seem to keep her mouth shut.  She usually opened her mouth and spilled at the worst possible times.
The story comes to an unexpected solution of a major problem and it was a good one that included a H.E.A.  for the deserving couple.

BOOK REVIEW- Rhett: a forbidden friends to lovers romance stand alone (Signature Sweethearts) by [Kelsie Rae] *

I've always been a routine kind of girl. I bake in the morning, then go for a quick run in the evening before I'm in bed by seven since I'm always up at the butt crack of dawn to––you guessed it––bake some more. 

Just. Like. Clockwork. 

Then my new neighbor ruins everything.

My sexy new neighbor who happens to visit my bakery every morning with a cocky smirk and a suggestion that I butter his biscuits.

Oh, and did I mention the worst part?

He works with my boyfriend.

My boyfriend who is completely oblivious that every time he bails on a date and sends Rhett in his place, I'm pushed closer and closer to the edge of falling for someone that isn't him.

But I'm not a cheater. And neither is Rhett. So where does that leave me?

It leaves me screwed. Well, not literally, but you get my point.

This was a sweet, charming story. Some of the sweet  also came from her bakery.  One suggestion that I might make is not to be reading this book when you are hungry or craving sweets.   The food talk might just push you over the edge.  Kidding and not kidding about that.  *Smile.

Some fun comes from  the new women that Indie hires for her bakery.  Sophie and Natalie add some smiles, and also some naughty sass from Sophie.  They all become friends as well as employees as the story goes on. 

Tony was clueless but it seemed like he liked having his head in the sand.  It seemed to serve him well.  Jerk.  

What's not to like about Rhett?  He's a good guy with a core of honor.  He also has one hard rule that he doesn't ever break.  He doesn't mess with someone in a relationship. 

After working through some painful confrontations, there is a H.E.A. and Epilogue.

This eBook cover caused me to slow down and read the book information because of how good the cover looked. 

The story felt like it started out a bit stiff but it did warm up as time went on.  So did some of the scenes between Hannah and Ian as lovers.  There was just a few of those though.

As it turns out, this story wasn't one I enjoyed as much as I had hoped.  I do have to give the author credit though because of all the medical and technology information.  For me, the murder technique was kind of gross.   But then I'm probably like Hannah when it comes to being sensitive to that kind of details. 

The supernatural part was done well too although I was not a fan of Bernard, the gnome. 

The story winds up with plenty of action and danger, which I also give the author points for.

Included is an excerpt of "Blacklist Rogue".

 I enjoyed this story.  It was full of surprises and about the time I thought they all had been revealed?  Bam!.  Another twist showed up.  That really kept me involved.  All in all a pretty good story.

I have to admit that the beautiful eBook cover drew me in.  And then so did the book information.  I wasn't disappointed because this was a pretty good story.

Good main characters and supporting people.  Some of those supporting people are holding some dangerous secrets that later will be exposed.   It's quite the surprise too. 

I liked Orina's best friend, Zary.  The two "girls" have been besties since their teens in some dicey situations.   Even when they had to be apart later on when Orina ("Losha") was hiding.  When they reconnect, it's still with a sense of strong friendship and loyalty. 

The only thing that caught me off balance a few times was when the story swung back into Orina and Shiver's past.  All of a sudden I found myself reading about how they met or some interaction and then realize "oh" this is a different time. "

There is  plenty of action and danger especially towards the end.  It also has a H.E.A. and a good Epilogue.  

 It also caused me to be interested in some of the other stories in the series.  Like the one about "Pinch".

 I enjoyed this book.  Both Ethan and Julie/Juliet.   And not forget feisty Luna, the tiny toddler. She was a hoot. 

It was filled with tenderness, humor, danger, action and a romance that starts out carefully.

There is a good secondary cast of people who add to the story.  There is even a Russian gangster, Viktor who plays more of a minor but I found interesting part.  I wouldn't mind reading his story as well.

Everything comes to a active ending with surprises but also a H.E.A. and Epilogue.

 

BOOK REVIEW- Inherited Love: A Medical Romance Series (A Dalton Sibling Book 1) by [Katie Mettner] *

I really liked this story a lot. A lot of that had to do with the winsome main characters.  They had depth and heart.  Even Brutus the inherited Saint Bernard had a lot of heart. 

I liked that Foster was NOT the expected hunk that some stories feature.  It was something different and he also had some self-esteem issues because of his less than stellar ripped body.  He did however have tenderness, honesty and caring along with his very skilled vet skills and  youthful face.  It just made me like him all the more.

 It didn't hurt to find out  Cinn was a gorgeous, talented woman who cared so much for others.  She often put others before her self when it came to taking care of them. 
The author strung me along for quite awhile before revealing the "stomach issues" that Cinn had.

 Mabel who refused to be called Grandma was a whole other bundle of interesting.  Slowly over time, we get to know more about her even though she is now dead.  Definitely a character with depth. 

 I had my suspicions about the harm that was going on at the shelter and I guessed correctly.  HOWEVER, there was so much more to that part of the story and I enjoyed the twists that came out.

I liked how the story ended and the Epilogue was sweet as well.

This story was something really different.  It was a surprise time after time.  So was the humor, which there was plenty of as well as sexual conversations.

Molly is funny, irreverent with NO filter to speak of  She is also a cynic, who doesn't really believe in love.  Her life motto is one that she's not even sure where she picked it up.  She learns a painful lesson about that later. She does love her brother Drew, her 2 nieces, her father and her BFF Brooklyn.   She was emotional and at times all over the place. Most of the time she was in a place called running.  

I will say that more than once the story got to the place where it just seemed to slow down.  And I was just ready for it to move on.  

There is a H.E.A. with the one man who saw the real Molly and knew most of the time how to handle her.  Towards the end I kept thinking, "I wonder how she's going to blow this up."  She did in a really hurtful way.  Ouch.  But they do have a H.E.A. in a totally Molly kind of way.

 What a great emotional story.  Good main characters make for a heart-warming story.   Jaimi and her daughter, Emily have quite the funny relationship. It made me laugh a lot.  Especially when it came to Emily talking about how her Grandma always said that Jaimi had to "smash her inner wimp".  And that  Jaimi needed Emily's help to make sure that happens. After all Grams said so.  And I loved the humorous pinky swear that the three of them had come up with to be troublemakers. It wasn't a bad thing just a vow to live boldly. Now it was just the two of them but the tradition continues.

There is plenty of other really good people in the story.  Because after all, nine brothers AND some of their families. 

The romance was sweet, funny and Dane was such a good guy who was so patient with her. 

A H.E.A. makes it all come together to make for a good Christmas story.  Well, in fact a good story for any time.  

There is also several excerpts of stories about other  brothers.

I really liked this story a lot.  Zeke and Samantha(Sam) made for good main characters. It was pretty easy to like both of them and care what happens to them. This story had plenty of emotions, action, attraction, and a developing romance.  Both Zeke and Sam both are longing for a family of their own.  It's clear to see that Zeke is blessed with at least one family, the men of his team.

 The story does a good job of showing how lonely and abandoned that both main characters had felt as they were growing up.  Both also have something else in common.  A fear to open their hearts to more pain; like falling in love.

Eva, Sam's daughter  was delightful.  And so was the interaction of Eva with the men of Zeke's security team.  Eva quickly "adopts" them as her uncles. There was more than one funny moment between them as the men quickly "adopted" her right back.

Kiki who is Eva's aunt, adds a lot of questions about her motives.  The rest of the Carmichael family motives are plain as day. 

The dangers are still out there for Sam and Eva but that does come to a satisfying end.  So does the rest of the dangers.  

There is also a welcome H.E.A. 

 

 

BOOK REVIEW-- Scrooged by the Biker (Love Demands a Holiday) by McKenna Rogue *

   

Ginger is the pastor’s daughter and off limits

Scrooged by a Biker is a standalone, interconnected Love Demands a Holiday romance. Charlie really knows how to rev up Ginger’s engine. Christmas is going to get hot even in the middle of a snow storm.

This was a short story that was both sweet and hot at different times.

The stereotypes of big bad biker and pure, virginal pastor's daughter are shown to not be totally accurate.   That was something different.

I have to add that it was refreshing that Ginger's father, Pastor Williams was portrayed in a positive way. So many times in different places that's not the case.  

 I just wish I liked the story more. Although looking at reviews, other people did.

Although this book had it's emotional moments, I can't say it was a favorite story for me.

Yes, it had interesting main characters and supporting cast of people.

It also had several sex scenes which is to be expected with this story but it also has a H.E.A. 
But it also just didn't grab me as much as I would have liked.

For me this book was just okay.  Granted it did have it's moments.  Some of those had to do with the spunky interchanges between Anya and Seb.   Both of them had lives through some interesting times; dangerous ones as well.  

Anya was clever and resourceful and that has kept her steps ahead of the vile Count who is after her.

 There is also some good secondary people in the story.  That includes Anya's close friend, Elizaveta who is  also on the run with her. 

Charlotte added some flavor to the story as did the Dreaded Dowager Dorothea.  

 

There was plenty of Russian fairy-tales, traditions, and superstitions.  There is also dangers, attempted kidnappings and rescues.  

A surprise twist is waiting towards the end of the book.   

I'm glad that there was a H.E.A. but I just wish I had liked it more.   Maybe others will enjoy it more.

 This book had depth, I'll give it that.  And it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. However, I also didn't enjoy it was much as I had hoped.  

Cass or Ice as she will be known had a whole lot of rage and she would be the first one to admit it.    And the violence of the Kittnz gave her the outlet to let it loose and she sure does.  The rest of the gang aren't shy when it comes to violence either.  I did like that they also had "day" jobs  making them people with double lives.

There is a stunning ending which I wasn't expecting either.  So all in all a well written story even if it wasn't something that I will continue reading.

Everything starts out normal enough in the beginning but you just know that's not going to last long when the Sisterhood gets on the scent.

 

It ends up having a fair amount of traveling both for the Sisters and their "helpers".  Because we are looking at 3 different locations for the doctors clinics.  Dr. Raymond Corbett is based in New York.  Dr. Steinwood is in Aspen and Dr. Marcus is in London.  This means Avery Snowden and his team are going to have to do a lot of the surveillance ground work first.  Part of his team includes two women, Sasha and Eileen doing their independent surveillance as well.   This was done in depth, maybe even more than any of the other books.  Not sure about that but it did seem that way.  Which was okay with me. 

The details in the story are good and it also seems that there is a whole lot of attention on food.  Especially the meals that Charles makes, some that I've never heard of.  I guess I was getting a food education too.  As well as some English slang.  Things that they were teaching Charlotte as well.  

The ending was very satisfying because justice was served Sisterhood style.  And I really enjoyed the fact that it becomes clear that the title for this book is shown to be really appropriate.

This was a good story, with good main characters and supporting people too. I liked it and found it a really full story.

Both Bree and Connor had in-depth portrayals of who they were.   And also how much they had gone through both personally and professionally.  It was easy to care about them and get drawn into the story.  Bree had quite an unusual upbringing that included Eliot, an ex-Special Forces man.  He became her "father" in every way that mattered.  It was by choice rather than blood. 

Connor's past had him all tied up.  From not only a case that went bad but also from a marriage that did too.   He's not really ready to open his heart to more possible pain but Bree is definitely pushing his boundaries.  I liked that and that they made a good team, when they could. 

There were a couple of things that needed resolving when it came to some crimes.  They do get resolved but not without danger and a whole lot of twists and turns.  It really kept things moving. 

There was one surprise that came later that caught me off guard. All, I'm going to say is that a baby shows up.  Okay, all done on that, that's all you get.

 One thing I noticed that was kind of humorous was when Connor identified himself (even to fellow officers) they never shook his hand.  Oh, he offered his hand, but got zip.

I also liked how the story ended and I was satisfied indeed.

I really liked this story a lot.  Maybe some of that has to do with the personalities of both Roman and Charlotte.  One thing they definitely have is a sense of honor and loyalty to friends.

One thing that Charlotte said, I totally agreed with.  She said basically that there was more to Roman than what you thought at first.  As I read the story that was easy to see.  Also the fact was that he was basically a good guy.  It also made me like him more.  There was also the side of him that came out if you messed with anyone who was important to him.  A violence would show up if needed.  Although we didn't see any of that being written about. He really hated innocent people being injured. 

I liked how a friendship of sorts developed between Roman and Charlotte first.  Even though Charlotte isn't aware in the beginning of how interested in her Roman has been over the years.  The way they have their first meeting  was definitely funny.  They do grow closer though because of the tragedy that was mentioned.  They do grow close enough for sex but I liked the "romance" (friendship) instead of just insta-sex.  The book was a bit different than what I was expecting but for me that was a good thing.

The author does warn that not all things like revenge will be taken care of in this book.  I'm glad that is mentioned but it didn't cause me to like the book less.

Nope, it didn't do it for me. It was one of those stories where sex was the main focus with what felt like a little bit of story.  Violence was plentiful although Ciara seems to be the main focus with her father being the main administer. 

AND the story doesn't end with this first book.  Did I miss that it was going to end this way?

I found this to be a sweet, emotional story with faith and good main characters.  And the supporting people were pretty good too.

It didn't take long for me to be pulling for Lance to find his forever after with Amber.  He was just such a great guy, who was always there for anyone who needed something. And he really did care about people.  He also paid attention to what was important to Amber.

Amber was so afraid to trust her feelings because she had been wrong time and again when it came to men.  This caused her to be wishy-washy with Lance.  That made me want to slap her in the head one even though I got  to understand some of her issues had helped make her that way.   She had a sister and mother who made her feel invisible which had her questioning her worth. 

There is also a well done H.E.A. that I liked.

I had mixed feelings on this one. Often there was rehashing of several things that kind of slowed the story and that I didn't enjoy as much.  So although I liked parts of the story, I can't say it was a favorite. 

 Both of the main characters were complex people.  The story was definitely an emotional one. The Barrington family were dealing with some painful issues, trying to heal.  And a lot of Ian's anger comes from so many unanswered questions about his brother, Kade's kidnapping as an infant. 

Claire was working through a lot of past pain and was putting it to use in business.  She was succeeding and she was relatable. She was strong, funny and a loyal friend too.

Another part that I did like was the humor that popped up.  Connor and Dylan who were twin "adults" added to that humor.  The reason I said adults in quotes is because of some of their pranks.  One of them had to do with Ian and he wasn't amused.  The twins had been folded into the family through marriage.   But they were basically harmless though at times hadn't thought things through.

 Ian has a job that no one talks about but it has it's dangers that the family is unaware of.  He has kept that secret because he had to and to protect his family.  It also brings Bradford into the picture with an interesting twist or two at the end.

There is a good H.E.A.  with a lot of the answers that Ian needed being answered.

What a wild ride this couple has been on. And it made for good reading.  

Joanna was a follow the rules, in the box thinker who plays things safe.  Well, she was before she met and married risk taker, Chip.  

I found the explanation about the Magnolia flower interesting and it showed how appropriate the title of this book is.  Of and of course how they used that name in many places too.

I liked how the book flowed as Joanna and Chip's P.O.V.'s were shared. I also liked how their faith in God was shared.  They began to see the many just in time miracles that showed up in their lives when they trusted God and did the right things. 

 One of my favorite things was when Joanna said that Chip was wild at heart.  What a great, fitting, description. I've watched the Fixer Upper show quite a few times and thought that Chip was a fun, kind of goofy guy.  It was good to see that he was SO much more too.  Got to look at some of the 'inner workings" of the man.  It also answered the question of whether or not his real name was Chip or not.  

Joanna said something that was easy for me to relate to and it was good to see that it wasn't just me.  She doesn't like her house to be messy (or cluttered).  If it's too messy, she can't think straight.  I totally get that.

They've learned a lot through their whole process to date; both together and individually.  It benefited other people as well as their children too.

There is a Q & A at the end of the book with both Joanna and Chip.

 I enjoyed this story.  Good main characters, and also the supporting people were interesting too. 

Katherine's best friend, Vanessa also has a part to play in this story. 

I liked that there was an actual story not just endless sex.  Oh, there will be sex but Rourke also added unexpected tenderness in his seduction.  There is also more to that story which will be revealed.  

There is also danger, and action in the story as well.  And a sweet H.E.A. brings it all to an end.

 I couldn't finish this book although I did try. I'm not sure that it's actually the author's fault though. I didn't realize at first that this was Book #3 or that as the book blurb mentioned, that it might be better to read the books in order.  I think that might have helped.  So I'm not sure that this review is a fair one.
I didn't realize till after I got to to reading the book that there were so many people in it (who I didn't know.)  So many couples and so many code names, it was confusing for me.  And I just never got it all balanced out in my mind as I was reading.  It just got to be too much "work"" for me.

This was a sweet, charming at times funny story.  I can't say it was a favorite of mine but it did have some moments. I can't say it really grabbed me as much as I would have liked.

I did like that Megan began to change things up.  Instead of being polite like she'd been raised, she began to rock the boat.  

Chase although he'd been a good friend to Megan was almost unbelievably clueless.  Even for someone who seemed to know his way around women.  

Chase has two brothers who add to the drama a little bit.  But it's really Leigh, Chase's sister who really mixes things up.

 I liked both of the main characters and the humor that flowed between them.  

I'm not really a fan of basketball.  Not real knowledgeable about it or surfing but  I'm glad that really wasn't necessary. 

It was emotional because of both Sam and Jack's issues.   But it was a fast read with me wondering how they were going to work things out.

 This is an emotion filled story and both main characters have some serious things to overcome.  Boone has worked through MOST of his trauma and Hannah is more at the beginning of her healing.  With Boone having gone through so much already, it tended to give him a tenderness and compassion for other people.  His legal skills are now being used in other avenues. 

There is a fairly large cast of people and at one point I had to go back and forth to re-read who was connected to who.  I don't enjoy that so much.

I commend the author for how detailed the town, businesses and surrounding area is.  But it also began to feel a lot like the details were overtaking the story a bit.  Like, I was going on a guided tour of my own.  For me, I began to not like that as much.  

The story does have a good H.E.A. though.

I loved this story.  Both Maryann and Nicolas were great main characters; interesting and with great depth.  Their emotions clearly shown through even though there were times when Nicolas showed a poked face.  As time goes on, it becomes clear at least to Maryann that Nicolas has two faces.  Both the dandy and the dangerous man that he can be. She begins to see even more than that though. Nicolas has a thirst for revenge that has driven him for ten years.  Five men committed a heinous crime and because of their family has a high position in society, no justice has been served.   Nicolas tried every avenue of the law that he could without any success.  So now it has been his life's mission to mete it out himself.   And he has been hugely successful on it. He was still looking for The Wolf and the Black Dahlia.   We follow his efforts as the story goes on. That alone provided quite a few twists and turns all on its own.   Maryann was an unrecognized gem and she was a whole lot of fun with her sharp wit, her sense of humor, and her clever mind and mouth.  She was also clever in her efforts to get rid the man that her family is trying to force her into marrying.   But no one is listening to her wishes so the rebel in her rises up and leads her into some interesting situations.  It kept me involved all the way though.

I liked that the story  and the friendship between Maryann and Nicolas was also well developed before anything HOT happened between them.  And it does get steamy much further in the book.  

The story has a savage twist towards the ending of the book with a huge surprise following. It also leads up to a more dangerous confrontation that was  like a 1,2,3 punch. 

There is a H.E.A. which I enjoyed along with a sweet Epilogue that tied up some loose ends when it came to a couple other people as well.

The  main characters  had potential.  And yes, they are attracted to each other despite their circumstances.  And Hugh really was a kind man.  Maria seemed immature to me and at times she made me shake my head.

 There are people working against them, of course, who have their own motives for advancement. 

One person who annoyed the heck out of me was Jane (Lady John) who was Maria's cousin.  She was a nagging prig.  She had helped Maria a lot but she just never seemed to let up when it came to status and do's and don't for Maria. 

I'm sorry to say that this book just didn't pull me in as I had hoped.  Although the eBook cover and book  information originally did.
