It was a pretty good clean story with good moments and times that it kind of irritated me too.  You're on the run and Griff is trying to make sure that they aren't being followed and Scarlett (Jane) tickles him?  That had me shaking my head because it's not like he's driving like a snail.   She also had a few other stupid moments too.  It was like she got the whole incognito deal and other times it just seemed to sail right over her head.  I thought she was smart?   Although Griff had quite a few of his own dumb moments as well.  Most of them caused mainly by his needing to be emotionally healed.  And I did get tired of Griff telling her that she lived in a fantasy world.  Okay, rant over.
Other than the things I mentioned, there were some things that I did like.  Scarlett's stance when it came to the movie roles that she would accept and what limits she put on the ones that she did.  She was who she was even if some other male actors mocked her for it.  There was other male actors who appreciated it too.  She stood by her beliefs and lived them.   I also liked the moments where she would get an inspiration from God and she would heed it.
Even Griff knew about them and paid attention when she got them.  He knew that they were legit from past experiences.  Because they did have some good memories before he shut everything down to protect her for her own good.

BOOK REVIEW- Space Cowgirl- Houston, All Systems GO (Space Series Book 3) by Sara L Hudson

NASA astronaut Julie Starr knows nothing is earned without blood, sweat, and frizzy hair.
Recently returned from orbit, Jules is on her way to becoming the youngest Flight Commander ever. So she isn't about to let a creepy stalker derail her goals.
Or a chivalrous, wealthy rancher either, for that matter.

Holt West doesn't mess with flirts. And that's exactly what Jules is.
He has enough on his plate, working the ranch he inherited from his grandfather while making sure his siblings follow their dreams. He doesn't need to be distracted from his responsibilities by the smart-mouthed, long-legged astronaut clad in leather pants and biker boots.

But when Holt's brother and Jules' best friend decide to get married, they're thrown together as best man and maid of honor. Jules takes the opportunity to hide out from her stalker at the West Ranch under the guise of planning the barnyard wedding of a lifetime. She might not know the difference between tulle and toile, but she’s an astronaut for god's sake. How hard could it be?

Between Jules vying for a record-breaking promotion while outmaneuvering a stalker and Holt fighting a losing battle with his heart, can the two of them get it together long enough to say yes to the ride of their lives?

Or is this mission a no-go?  AMAZON LINK
                    4.5 Stars

This is the story in the series that I have been waiting for.  I love the outrageous character of Julie Starr (Jules).  She is just such a wildly inappropriate kind of woman.  She's a poster child for professionalism and correctness as an astronaut  but on earth?  Not so much. You will have to definitely gear up for a wild ride though. If you know ahead of time that there will be sex, rough language with a lot of "F' bombs but with a heroine with a heart of gold, you'll be okay.  But if it's not something you want to travel into, at least you know. You'll also be okay if you've only begun with this book, because it stands on it's own.  But I don't know why you would want to miss out on any of the prior books in the series.  Each one of the people in the books are interesting all on their own.
Back to the main characters..Jules.  About that heart of gold.  Yes, she has it but she has a really hard time expressing things with words.  So her actions for those she cares about, are what do her talking.  She takes care of people even though sometimes her actions can be misunderstood.  Understood as her being only bossy or manipulative, which she is not. Well, the bossy part might be a bit true but it's mainly for people's best interests.  But get on her bad side and you better get ready for a butt kicking.  She cracks me up when she calls Holt, "Boy Scout."
Jules is so self sufficient I was constantly wondering how in the world Holt or anyone else would know she was in danger.
Now onto Holt, the tough cowboy rancher guy who is Mr. Responsibility.   Of course, you find out that at an early age he had to be.  He basically raised both his brother,  Flynn and his sister Rose.   Rose is almost as funny as Jules, another one of a kind gal. The fun part is that Holt is a man who blushes and Jules will truly be one of those people who triggers that a lot.
They make for some interesting times.  As Holt gets to know her, I think he says it best when he observes that Jules is a mass of contradictions.
I think the sex could have been dialed back a bit but hey we're talking about Jules.
The stalker element was a good one, I enjoyed the whole story and I liked how the it ended.

BOOK REVIEW- Irish Eyes and Mafia Lies by J. Haney & S.I. Hayes *

                                                   3.5 STARS

Okay, I knew this one would be different and it is.  The only problem is that it left me with mixed feelings about it.  Because some parts made me roll my eyes (especially her immaturity at times) and some parts I did like. So I'm left with mixed feelings, like I said.

Onóra is an interesting character who has been raised in such an unusual manner that she almost didn't really have a real childhood.  Something that she will do everything she can to ensure that her little brother Finn does have. She has been Finn's protector practically from his birth and has also been the one who has raised him.   She knows what's one the line for them and doesn't want anything to do with either the Italian or Irish power families.  It's kind of hard to escape though because both
Onóra and Finn are considered royalty on both sides.
Rónán is a good guy although he's more comfortable with people NOT really knowing that fact.  He really goes way out of his way for the two runaways.  I know Onóra is young and  terrified, and not sure who to trust .  But boy, she sure treats him like crap a lot of times.  He proved himself so many times and then she would let her wild temper short circuit her common sense.  It made me want to shake her a time or two.
At times I thought maybe this story was for a younger crowd than me.   But then, this story will have adult language, some swearing and also some sex scene.  So it would probably be better for the 18+ group.
Things do start to heat up story-wise when the main characters have all their ducks in a row and get ready for the confrontations that need to happen.  It's time to draw a line in the sand.  It brings everything together with some surprising results.
A solid Epilogue puts the finishing touches on the story.

                                  4 STARS

Let me be clear..I liked it but not as real high on the chart.  It did have plenty of emotions, interesting main characters who have NOT had an easy life.  Anthony has not only lived on and by his gambling luck but also on his  very real charm.  He is also very upbeat, funny and always looking for the positive no matter how desperate the situations are. I did like how he treated Charlotte so well.  He was more of a gentleman than the so called gentlemen.   He never treated her as worthless because of her upbringing.  I have to admit the gambling bothered me but we also got to see some changes that he is trying to bring about in that area.  Not an easy thing for him.
In the story we did get a very good feel for how Charlotte has a longing to be loved, respected and to have a respectable family.
See?  It did have some good points even though at times I found it a bit hard to stay in the story as things did get kind of odd at times.

  4 STARS

I liked this book but if you're going to read it you have to realize it does say that it is Advanced Training for Prophetic Ministry.  So what does that mean?  It's going to be a pretty serious study.  For those of us who like scriptural basis for things, this has plenty.  There were a lot of good nuggets of information along with the deeper information. Some personal experiences are included without taking over and being the main focus.  In Chapter 4 there is a Core Values Assessment Test that is pretty direct and helpful when it comes to locating what things could negatively or even positively impact your prophesying.  Making sure your spiritual lens is clean.

I liked how Bill Johnson was one of his mentors.  He embraced all the different streams of faith with love.  His attitude about that was to "eat the meat and spit out the bones."

There was good information about you may be told by God about you being a prophet but it will often take YEARS to  be recognized as one. King David was a perfect example of that since he was anointed years before as King before he actually became king.
A familiar phrase is, "Greater Levels, Greater devils." However, even though we recognize that , we often forget something.  When God promotes us He also protects us.  That's something we really need to grab a hold of.
He makes good points about the controversy about the Prophets of Doom.  Mentioning that they forget God's heart under the New Covenant.
A great point about this scripture validates the truth that these 5 fold Ministries have not ceased. (Have we all come into unity and maturity yet?)  Ephesians 4 :11-13-
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Last item that was interesting that the gift of prophecy is a "gift."  We might have the gift of prophecy but we are not the gift of prophecy. The prophet himself or herself is a/the gift from Jesus himself.

I so wanted to really like this book and I tried so hard but it just didn't pull me in.  It seemed to have all  the necessary ingredients , like good main characters, good secondary ones , a fairly good plot and good details of the settings and culture.  But still, I ended up feeling like it was missing something.  I guess it's fair to say that it just wasn't my cup of tea.

BOOK REVIEW- Bishop's Pawn (House of Bishop Book 1) by Suzanne Halliday *

Roman Bishop is a man on a mission. A mission to locate his boss’s surprise half-sister.

There’s just one problem. He’s feeling restless and edgy. Too many happily ever afters are going on around him. So when he sets off to find a twenty-something hidden away in rural Oklahoma, the best thing that could happen was finding her quickly—so he could get back to being grumpy.

Born into isolated obscurity and plagued by her mother’s poor choices, Kelly Anne James is self-reliant, determined, and fiercely independent. She has plans. Big plans that didn’t include duplicating her mother’s pitiful life.

Destiny, however, moved these two around like chess pieces until the perfect moment when time, weather, and a cascade of surprises turned a simple game into the challenge of a lifetime.

 3 STARS

This book had so much potential.  It had great main characters in Kelly and Roman and also Matty.   It also starts out pretty good as well.  However after a while it began to feel like the main story got avalanched under a whole LOT of sexual adventures.  I guess to be fair that part was well written out but it had me skimming a lot of pages as well.  I want more story in my story.  When it finally got back to the story part, it held all the emotions, confusion and angst you could hope for.  It also had some really funny moments as well.
What I liked about Kelly was that she hated lies and secrets and she wasn't about to let those things tear Matty's life apart like her had been.
Also she was one fierce lady in a small package.
Snarky, independent to the bone.   She might never have felt loved by her mother but she did know how to love.  Her main focus of love was Matty.  I'm not saying who that is because that's one of the surprises.
Secondary characters were good and helped fill in the story.
There is a H.E.A. for now end to the story with the promise of the continuation of their story in their next book.

BOOK REVIEW- Assassin's Mark (Assassins #1) by Ella Sheridan*

50504033. sy475
I knew the minute I saw him that Levi Agozi was too perfect to be real. I didn't care. He came to me, asked for me, and, dazzled by his dark good looks and the bad-boy aura surrounding him, I gave in. Willingly.

My father is set to become the next governor of Georgia, and he'll use me to get there if he has to. He'll hand me over to the man with the biggest bank account and political pull.

I wanted something more.

I wanted Levi. And I had him—until I woke up, disoriented and confused, at his mercy. He’s a bad boy, all right. A sexy, deadly assassin. And I'm the pawn torn between him and my father, two powerful men intent on destroying each other.

I might not understand their war, but I do understand one thing: no matter who wins, I lose.

                        3 STARS

Definitely had mixed feelings on this one. I knew going in that Levi was going to be kind of an anti-hero and he was. He does have his own code and the only people that he trusts and loves is his brothers.
I will say that sure I was pretty sure that were going to sex scenes in the story but wow, way over what I was expecting. That was on the downside for me, especially the only time Levi really interacted with Abby was then. The rest of the time he was pretty ruthless, letting no weakness show.
Abby had been so controlled by her father that it was almost painful. She had become his pretty little puppet until she said "Enough". But then again that's also what lead her to take a risk with Levi. That's one jump that's gonna cost her.
I will say that the story was intense with plenty of surprises and that makes me want to give it some points on that. Huge twist at the end continues the intensity.
Is there going to be a H.E.A. for Levi and Abby? How's that going to work? Not sure but I just know, I'm not going to continue with any more of their story.

There was a good foundation for both  of the main characters, their families and friends.  But the story was SO Slow....I was past the 40% on my kindle still waiting for something, anything to really happen.
While it was nice to have dual P.O.V's from both Frits and Adeline, for me the story was JUST okay.
On the plus side I guess you could say that it was somewhat charming at times, there was a bit of humor but it was still somewhat predictable.  The only real twist I saw came when a secret was exposed about another man who was also pursuing Adeline.

I did think that the eBook cover was very attractive.

I had high hopes for this book but at best all I can say is that it had it's moments and then at times it was sunk in a lot of repeated memories.  It left me with mixed feelings.  Oh, there's nothing wrong with them having their own painful emotional memories but at times it felt repeated a bit too much.  In fact, at times it felt like it kind of drowned out some of the romance between the two.  Because I often wasn't feeling it.
Both Sarah and Cade were good people, no mistaking that. Cade carried the pain of always having to prove his worth to someone or else he was kicked to the curb.  Sara was kind of like a young woman who was so overprotected that she was stunted.  The only person who really had cared for her was the family's longtime housekeeper.  Who by the way, I really disliked for a very long time.  Yes, yes I know her actions were because she loved Sarah like a daughter.
So I guess the final answer is yes, I enjoyed some of the humor, and Cade's friends but it was just missing something.

BOOK REVIEW- Woman on the Edge by Samantha M. Bailey *

Description

This story starts out with the expected twist because of what is mentioned in the book blurb.  But, the tension, mysteries and surprises  kept coming.  It really is more about those things with just a touch of friends developing into a romance.
I liked that there was both Morgan Nichole's P.O.V.'s in the story.  And for me, at least it really wasn't super hard to keep up with who was sharing.  I definitely felt sorry for both of them for what they were going through.
The insistent question throughout is, "Why was Morgan chosen to take and protect Quinn?"  The other question is, "Is there a connection between Morgan and Nicole ?" Morgan has never met Nichole, at least not that she knows of.  The puzzle just keeps getting bigger and bigger for her.
There is plenty of fear, tension, emotion, danger and action in the story.  It got to the point where I was bouncing all over the place; suspecting one person after another.
When the big reveal comes it's just as dramatic as you would hope.  And the manipulator/tormentor/killer was someone who I had finally suspected towards the end.  But there was also more to that person's story as well.
I liked how the story ended.  Everything concluded as best as it could be and with hope for the future.

BOOK REVIEW- Sidewinder (The Halcyon Files Book 1) by Patricia Rosemoor *

         4 STARS

Whenever I see a book by Patricia Rosemoor, it gets my attention.  I have read quite a few of her books and enjoyed them.  Of course, some more than others.  But still it was worth checking out.  And I wasn't disappointed, it was intense like so many of her books.
Reies and Libby both give their own P.O.V.'s which I enjoyed.  It wasn't done in a blow by blow rehashing way by each character that I dislike.  So another point right there.  Libby is tough and determined to find the truth about the murder of her father and brother.  She also places herself in danger by just poking her nose into those mysteries.  Someone would rather she be dead than complete her mission.
Reies is intense all on his own.   But he's also been hurt deeply by others and keeps himself guarded to prevent more.  Both of them have their own pain but their attraction is also pretty strong.
There really a good sense of world building especially when it came to the ranch, town and the local surroundings.
This town reminded me of the Wild Wild West and that was shown really well.  There were really good people in the town but they were terrified of all the bullies who had a choke hold on the area.  It was made clear that there really was no law in the area. Add to that the fact that "Outsiders" were NOT welcome.  They didn't need to put out a shingle with that warning.  It was made clear as day.
Pilar, what a piece of work she was...But then again she's not the only one.
All in all this was a good story  with romance, and plenty of suspense, and action.

What can I say?  This book had potential with interesting main character.  BUT...the story was so buried under SO much sex . That for me, that was a minus.  Sure, that was probably well written but I just happen to like the story to be more in the forefront.
Although now that I think about it , there was a lot going on with several story-lines. Too many maybe?
There were some pluses.  The whole Montgomery family and how they stuck together whether they were Montgomery's by blood or being grafted in is one.
And let's just leave it at that.

This was a really good story with some challenges that I wasn't expecting.  It has two good main characters who have had a very loving history that I enjoyed. And then...a huge bump in their road.  The story gets more emotional from this point on without getting weepy or sappy.
I also liked that we got to see both of their P.O.V.'s.
I will mention that The focus is on both of them being the Riley's threw me off a bit at first as I was reading. – But after a little bit I got into the flow of Boy Riley (Phoenix) and Girl Riley (Wildfire).
The strong bond of friendships and sense of community in the Linear Tactical team continues in this story as well.
The author has a few surprising twists towards the end of the book that were REALLY good.  I never saw them coming but they were intense with plenty of dangerous action.
But there is also a really sweet surprise that adds to their H.E.A.

BOOK REVIEW- One Little Lie ( The Pelican Bay Series) by Colleen Coble

Description

It started with one little lie. But Jane Hardy will do everything in her power to uncover the truth in this gripping new romantic suspense.
Jane Hardy is appointed interim sheriff in Pelican Harbor, Alabama, after her father retires, but there's no time for an adjustment period. When her father is arrested for theft and then implicated in a recent murder, Jane quickly realizes she's facing someone out to destroy the only family she has.
After escaping with her father from a cult fifteen years ago, Jane has searched relentlessly for her mother—who refused to leave—ever since. Could someone from that horrible past have found them?
Reid Bechtol is well-known for his documentaries, and his latest project involves covering Jane's career. Jane has little interest in the attention, but the committee who appointed her loves the idea of the publicity.
Jane finds herself depending on Reid's calm manner as he follows her around filming, and they begin working together to clear her father. But Reid has his own secrets from the past, and the gulf between them may be impossible to cross—especially once her father’s lie catches up with him.

What an outstanding story!! I hardly know where to start when it comes to talking about it.
Maybe a good place to start is to say how great the mysteries were in this book.  If you are looking for intensity with your mysteries, this book delivers.  Evil is definitely at work on several different levels but so are all the secrets and outright lies. Which makes this the perfect title for this book.
And the people?  Wow, they were well drawn with plenty of depth.  Even the ones that weren't all that likeable. But I really liked Jane, Reid and Will. They were so well written that it was easy to become interested in what happens to them.   But yes, Reid is hiding some important information too.
There is a lot of pots being stirred but without making it overwhelming. There is also elements of faith in God and also how people in the cult had been lied to and now feared anything to do with church or God.  Still not overwhelming to me in the story either.
The story comes to a slamming conclusion with many things exposed.  There are several threads that have NOT concluded yet so...cliffhanger?  I went "ouch" when I got to that part.  The writing was so good though I still had to give it 5 stars on Amazon.
There is another book in this series supposed to come out in September.  You will have to decide if you want to continue or not.

This was a quick, story with plenty of emotions with some of the expected challenges that the book information suggests.
Rafe' although highly successful was often almost unlikable at times . But when you get more information about his family, it's easy to see why.  Sometimes his arrogance is incredibly off the charts!  I  felt at times he was a jerk and treated her like a whore. I didn't enjoy that part at all.

Sophie craves some peace and quiet and maybe independence to  have a more normal lifestyle.  She's on the ranch not only to lick her wounds but to be free from the rigid gilded cage of being a princess.  With all of it's rules, regulations and meaningless duties.  She wants to find more of her worth other than just a title.
Rafe' and Sophie clash as expected but they also are attracted to each other.  Being pulled towards each other but it's just no strings sex you know?  uh-huh.  I couldn't believe some of the things that she put up with from him.  Even when it came to trying to control her responses during sex.  Really?
The story does have a good ending with a satisfying Epilogue.  Probably more than Rafe' deserved from his previous actions BUT he does
get his ways shaken up.  So in the end they do work things out.

BOOK REVIEW- Red Dust Rebel by Eva Scott *

Description

In the small town of Elliot's Crossing, things are never really in the past ...
Justine Turner knew she'd become a solicitor the day her childhood friend Nate Kincaid was sentenced to juvenile detention for a crime he did not commit. Fifteen years later, Nate is back in town and JT is more determined than ever to defend him, and not just because of an unrequited crush. But small towns have long memories, and this one is sure Nate is guilty.
Being the town's black sheep is hard work, but Nate has neglected his sonly duties long enough. Back in town to care for his mother while she heals from a broken arm, it's not long before Nate discovers her condition is far worse than he expected. His only welcome distraction is JT, the gangly girl he knew from childhood who is now smart, sassy-and entirely kissable.
But everyone is keeping secrets, lies are falling apart, and unrequited love is surfacing--a force strong enough to tame a rebel ... or tear a town apart.
A small-town romance about overcoming prejudice, second chances and setting the past free.

I liked this story but with some reservations. It had good main characters, who were written with depth.  It also had a great sense of community that was also described with good depth. The same is true of Justine's circle of friends.
There were also some serious issues addressed with well portrayed emotions. In fact, there were well developed emotions throughout. You could almost feel some of the fear and frustrations that that Justine (J.T.) and Nate are going through.
I will say on the down side, the story slowed for me when it felt like the same couple of issues kept getting rehashed over and over again. Although important to the story, it felt a bit overdone.
However, towards the end things do ramp up and long held secrets are exposed.  And a dangerous situation closes in on J.T.  There will be a H.E.A. but it won't be easy getting there.

I grabbed this book because I really do like science fiction, fantasy books but this book just didn't do it for me.  It had some good points but still wasn't as good  as I had hoped it would be.

It did do a really good job of world building and explaining the caste system.  It also felt like a little bit too much time was spent on the past story of Shade's family and caste group.  It felt like it could have tightened things up a bit and not have lost anything in telling it that way.
If you want to know if this book had sensual heat.  That would be yes, both in language and in actions too.

It did have a good twist towards the end.  Just not enough to make it a favorite of mine.

Free bonus story: This ebook includes Yulewriter, an exclusive bonus story that takes place directly before the events of Bookburner.

I've been reading these stories right along.  But this book in the series was filled with quite the unexpected twists. Even April's Grandma shows up in the story. And begins to be filled in on some of the secrets that April has been hiding.
Just like the book information shows us though the dangers have ramped up way beyond anything Gatekeeper April had ever expected.
It was a good tense story with good main characters, flaws and all.  What an imagination this author has!!
I'm glad the author included the "Yulewriter " bonus story because it makes for a good bridge into some of the personal activities of this book.

This book promised a lot.  From the attractive eBook cover to the book blurb.  However, for me it didn't really deliver everything I had hoped for all that well.
In the Prologue, I was left wondering what was going on which is kind of okay because that is often the case.  But as time went on I began to see that it was part of the flashbacks that was used as part of the story.  That was confusing to me at times as I was still trying to sort out who the people were and how they fit into the story.  At other times I also found the flashbacks a bit confusing as well.  It did smooth out but it was kind of disconcerting to me.
The opening in the first chapter had me raising my eyebrows at the startling beginning.
I will say that Lachlan and Finley both added emotion to the story.  They were each struggling with different issues but each important in their own way.
There are betrayals that will get exposed.  Many of them going many years back  but are suddenly appearing in their current times to bring even more danger to the forefront.   Many things do get resolved as things ramp up to a dangerous conclusion.  But there is one villain who escapes to cause more trouble in future times I'm sure.  I would have liked to have seen that finished but at least there is an unusual solution to bring a H.E.A. for Lachlan and Finley.

This was a good, homey, charming story even with some of the very serious issues that were addressed.  It had a community feel because so much of the community did pull together in it.
There was good depth to each of the main characters.  All of the other secondary people also were well fleshed out as even all of the dogs were well written too!   And let's not forget Mr. Longtail, a cat with a very high regard for himself.  He's not malicious but does definitely go his own way.
Some of those secondary people like Ida (who was the neighbor to the rescue manor, previously owned by Sabrina Raven.) She played even more of a part than just a friendly neighbor.  Patrick is a very important part of the rescue mission as well and was an unusual person too.   He had some limiting social skills when it came to people but he was brilliant with dogs and social media.
This is a different kind of romance but good all the same.  Kurt is an all around good guy who has several issues.  One of them being a man of few words.  He has had trouble putting words to what he feels but Kelsey really does begin to pull the best of him out.  This couple does get their H.E.A. but it is also an emotional ride.
