eBook: Walk in Beauty

Looking Back:  Jessie Callahan  is beautiful but broken because of being raised by an  alcoholic mother.  Luke Bernali is a beautiful Navajo man, that Jessie falls in love with and who begins to help her heal. He sees the Beauty in her.  The things don't continue that way because Luke falls into the same alcoholic pit that her mother was in.  When she finds out she is pregnant, she leaves because there is no way her child is going to be raised in a drunken house like she was.
Fast Forward about 7 years:  Jessie, Luke and his daughter Giselle are on a collision course to meet.  Luke is about to meet the daughter he never knew he had, Giselle is about to meet the father she always wanted to meet, and Jesse is going to see the man she hoped never to meet again.
The book was okay, some of it charming even.  I know "The Chase" is always a part of the story but I agree with one of the reviews on Amazon; (by book lover)  that the constant making up their minds and then abruptly changing it after they had "great sex" was a bit wearing.  Yes, she was afraid to trust but c'mon.  I did like some of the revelations that she began to get about the effect her mother had on her life and what she finally began to do about it.  I liked the references to the Beauty all around, and her inspiration for her paintings, and the Navajo flavor to the story. Giselle was fun to read about as was her the guest appearance of her Aunt Marcia,  who was so like her.     It did have a sweet ending, kind of predictable but good.
There was Bonus Excerpts for 8 different books at the back of the book .

eBook Review: Heart of the Country

Faith & Luke Carraday.   It all seemed like a Fairy Tale Come True.  She was the Golden girl from the country with a Golden voice.   At least that's what most people thought she was.  She just seemed to draw people to her without even trying.    Luke was born with a Silver Spoon in his mouth but he just didn't seem to fit into what his family wanted for him as much as they thought he should.  He had a strong-willed father and brother who had his life all mapped out for him and Faith definitely wasn't a part of that plan.  Its all about to hit the fan when it looks like Luke is part of a Ponzi scheme.  And Faith runs home, to a home she hasn't been back to in many years.

I liked this book okay; but I did find it hard to follow at first.  That's probably because it was divided into Chapters of Catherine, Faith, Luke, Olivia and at the end Calvin.  It makes it hard to follow when you are just getting to know the people in a new story but it finally did begin to make sense after awhile.   I'm not saying this is a favorite but it was enjoyable enough.  There was a good background of people of faith, like Calvin (Faith & Olivia's father) and Catherine.  Also people who lost their way in life and to God.  In many ways its like the Prodigal Son and Daughter scenario with different people. Don't get the wrong idea though, there isn't a perfect person in the whole crew.  Everyone in the story had to finally stop running.

BOOK REVIEW: Dangerous

Cover Art

Caleb Bislow knew from an early age that he marched to the beat of a different drummer.  Even when he received Jesus Christ, he knew his calling wasn't going to be the normal, comfortable, business as usual walk.  Its about Radical Evangelism; and many stories of his and others experiences with it are shared.  Its a look into what worked and a few that didn't.
He has also included in the back of the book, information that will get you started on your way, things to explore if you're ready to go there and have confirmations that God is calling you into those Dangerous places.

This book is about Out of the Box (13th Floor) spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  I like the fact that not only does the author point to the fact that we need Boldness and Bold unusual ways but also that we need to be discerning and have wisdom in what we are doing.    In the beginning of the book, the author cautions some ways to start out in wisdom and with accountability to other seasoned Christians.  If heeded, this should limit taking unwise risks and causing more damage than good.  Throughout the book, are many references on how to more information on what God is drawing your heart to.  Caleb speaks often of being "Unusual Soldiers" for God.
Redemptive Bridges was an interesting insight.  The fact that  Bridges to Christ can be found in every culture and can be expressed in a loving way to the listeners.
Not only "Bridges to Christ" but the Replacing a Come to Me mentality with a Go to them Mentality", were phrases that caught my attention.

I received a FREE copy of this Book from Bethany House (through Bakers Publishing Group) as part of their book review program, and I am under no obligation to write a positive review.

Prophecy Promotes who we are in the Spirit

"Prophecy promotes who we are in the Spirit.
We learn confidence in that identity and God's intent.
We develop the mindset, character and attributes that are in line with God's frame of reference.
That mindset includes all the possibilities of ongoing victory.
Whatever is going to oppose us on this level is smaller than God's perception of us."

eBook Review: Hide in Plain Sight

Andrea Hampton, is a city girl, financial expert.  But all it takes to make her come home to Amish country, is her sister, Rachel getting hit by a car.  Yes, she has missed Katherine, her independent grandmother but there's just too many painful memories there that has kept her away from the family home.  Andrea isn't even sure she has any faith in God and she sure as heck doesn't trust many people.  And that includes Cal, the carpenter who just seems to keep popping up.  Accidents keep happening, stalkers lurking around, property being destroyed;  someone is afraid of mysteries being uncovered.

I really did like this story, it had interesting twists and turns that kept things moving.  I even like the fact that Cal, had this huge chip on his shoulder concerning Andrea and his opinions of how he believes she had treated her grandmother and sister.  Neglected, them in fact.  Its fun to see how things begin to unravel and we get to see who she really is, warts and all.  I would title a review " Just a Touch of Amish" because although the Amish people are part of the story, there are not the main theme. The picture on the front of the book might throw people off a bit.  But the story had just the right amount, where you didn't get caught up trying to decipher a different language.

A Texan's Promise((Heart of a Hero Series) eBook by Shelley Gray

Clayton Proffitt, foreman of the Circle Z Ranch in Texas, discovers that Vanessa Grant, needs to escape from her step-father's advances.  Clayton is an honorable man, who  worked for Vanessa's father while he was alive,  Vanessa's father loved and treasured his family; which included his wife and son too.  He has to do something to protect her; so he takes her away from the ranch.  Only problem, her step-father is not going to give up searching for her and killing anyone who got in his way; including Clayton.

I have read both of Shelly Gray's books.  It just so happens that I read her second book first;

"A Texan's Honor'.  While I liked both of them, this one is probably the one I liked best out of the two.  I liked the friendship that Clayton and Vanessa had for many years before this situation arose.

Christina Lee, Nitro, deaf dogs rock
After surveying the available dogs at the animal shelter, you come across what might be the one. She's sleek, spry, and just the right mix of cute and cuddly.

"Oh, that one," the shelter employee says, "she's deaf." Suddenly you're thinking, "I don't know anything about deaf dogs. I wouldn't know how to train them," and you decide to pass.

That was the initial reaction of Christina Lee — before her husband calmed her down and convinced her to adopt an 8-week-old deaf boxer named Nitro from the local shelter. She went on to found Deaf Dogs Rock, a non-profit organization bent on educating people on deaf dogs and finding them homes,  READ MORE @ link above

Prophetic Tension (Interesting) G. Cooke

"There is always tension. Tension between the now and the not yet. Tension between Heaven and Earth. There is a tension between experience and knowledge of God. A prophet who does not understand the value of tension will cause it. You will contribute to it. A bridge absorbs tension, and it creates a safe passage from one realm to another."

How to Cast-on: Long-Tail Cast-on- ( Knitting - How to Cast On: Long Tail Cast-On - How to Cast On: Long Tail Cast-On

It creates an even, stretchy edge that works well for stockinette stitch or for ribbing. It’s easy to knit from, easy to pick up stitches from, and is probably the fastest cast-on, once you get the hang of it. It’s even faster than Single Cast-On when you take into account that this method creates an already knitted row (technically, anyway…but patterns don’t count this row).

On July 4, 2013, a purebred female German Rottweiler went missing/was taken from Tilghman Island, MD. She could be anywhere which is why we’re asking for your help!!!!

Abby is 18 months old, 85 lbs, black/brown in color whose most noticeable feature is her RIGHT EYE as she had surgery last year and the entire white of one eye is brown and is “lazy” that wanders up high leaving her with double vision. She has a docked tail that is barely noticeable and off center and is spayed and microchipped (with a universal chip). Abby is a beloved pet and a therapy/companion dog for wounded soldiers for Operation Second Chance.

If you have seen or do see a dog matching her description, see a Craigslist posting or have any information then I ask that you post it to - - or call the number on the flyer.

Please share Abby’s flyer on your Facebook page and in your community with friends, clients, retail stores, vets, shelters, rescues, groomers, kennels, etc.

Thank you in advance for your efforts in helping us bring Abby home where she is sorely missed by family, friends and our wounded warriors.

Child Who Refused Mosque Field Trip Given Zero for Standing Up for Christian Faith

Islamic Center of Nashville
A controversial field trip to an Islamic mosque has caused a Tennessee high school to revise its field trip policy.
Students in a freshman honors world studies class at Henderson High School on Sept. 4 visited the Islamic Center of Nashville, where they were reportedly given copies of the Quran. They also visited a Hindu temple.
A Sumner County Schools spokesperson acknowledged there was concern about the field trip.
“Our district has reviewed the practice and decided to eliminate field trips to religious venues from this class, as it does not provide equal representation to all the religions studied in the course unit,” read the statement sent to Fox News. “This decision was made due to the fact that equal representation in regards to field trips for all religions studied in the course is not feasible.”
(My note:  She still got zero for the assignment)
