BOOK REVIEW: I Still Believe

I Still Believe

An honest story of a life lived so far.  A well known musician shares from his humble roots, what God can do with an obedient person who falls in love with Him, totally.  An honest view of the times he fell down or fell away.  The times that he didn't understand what God was doing and in some ways still does not.  But as the title says he CHOSE to still love Jesus AND Still believe God loved him and wanted the best for him.   There are photos also included that show the different people who were and are important to his walk.

Jeremy Camp.  I never knew anything about him other than he is a Christian singer/musician. Period.  He opens his heart during the writing of this book and shares weakness without sounding like he is or was a victim, just human.  I liked the book.  Without giving away too much of the book (which I hate to do because I don't want to spoil it for others) he shares his grief's as well.  It not a negative book either, there is plenty of joy and appreciation flowing through it.  He also gives the lyrics to the songs that God gave him; so that he could sing out of the broken places that he came through.  Joyous places too; to me its singing and being thankful to God even in the middle of a storm.
There is a C.D. that is coming as part of this book review; but I haven't received it yet.  So why am I reviewing now?  Its out of courtesy to the publisher who asked for the book to be reviewed by the end of this month.   The CD is on its way and when it comes, I will listen to it and give my thoughts on it as well; as requested.

Book Review: There is More!

There Is More!: The Secret to Experiencing God's Power to Change Your Life

Impartation, a major part of the Christian walk and yet so few even understand what it is, if its real and what the  scriptures say concerning it.   Its a word few have heard and those that have don't understand how it functions.  Impartations of the "MORE" of God; that is what this book includes and shows that its a very large area.  Just a quick glimpse is this:  MORE of the love for God and humankind, MORE anointing, MORE power, MORE faith in prayer, MORE revelation from God about the needs of others, MORE joy, MORE conviction  over sin,  MORE gifts, MORE healing, MORE deliverance, MORE of the lost saved,  MORE churches planted,.MORE of the culture being changed to the Kingdom of God landscape. Testimonies of many different people, are included.  Also there is some church history and things that we had before that are only now being "revived".

I enjoyed the stories from the different people about the impact and impartation that Randy Clark has been used by God to make into their lives and ministries.  A reminder of  John 15:14-16  about our being friends if we obeyed what  Jesus commanded.  He then no longer called us servants but  friends and that we would bear much fruit.  One of the people who shared their story mentioned that they are still discovering the gift that Randy imparted to them.  What a true statement for all of us!!   I could see there was at least one example in the book that I had also experienced some years ago, and didn't understand.  This book gave me more clarity about it and I of course will be walking that out  MORE.

Light Therapy used on Dogs

Laser therapy, is a safe, non-surgical option available to dogs for reducing inflammation and pain in joints and for promoting healing in external lesions. In addition to joint issues, laser therapy can be used to treat ear or nasal problems and even periodontitis and hot spots. In 1967, Andre Mester, M.D. discovered that wounds healed faster when treated with a low intensity laser. Veterinarians have used this therapy for over 25 years.
This procedure is not the same a laser surgery, where a laser instead of a scalpel used to cut tissue. There are two types of laser therapy: continuous and pulsed. Your dog’s individual situation will determine the which therapy would work best.

Book Review: When Donkeys Talk

A semi-humorous look at Christianity; what it is and what it isn't compared to the Bible examples of  wild faith and experiences. How normal is it in our every day lives to walk on water, or have a donkey talk to us, or any of the many other "unusual occurances" of the Bible?    This is the normal of the Bible heritage of  faith that we come from.   This author brings to light the recognition of the stirring of the Holy Spirit for Christians to become hungry;  to become life -long students of Jesus..to be disciples.   Tyler Blanski states that " we do not need a revival; we need a holy renaissance.

I found that while I liked this book and its basic idea, I did find it a bit dry many times, sorry Tyler.   Some high points to name just a few:   Tyler brings up the interesting idea of 2 cities, " The city of God vs. The City of Man". ( he also called it Christendom and Atomland)  The first is full of wonder and the impossible vs.  The City of Man; which is all logic and science with no room/or need  for God; its all biology and natural laws".  Ancient vs. Modern.  Two totally separate Cities. Tyler's desire?   " I want Christians to truly know the love of  Christ  and to allow that love to completely transform their outlook on all  of reality. I want the Gospel to be incarnated in their daily lives ".
I really found it interesting that in old Hebrew theology  space is not empty; space is holy.   Another piece of information that got my attention was that according to Dallas Willard, the reason we don't get the full wonder of Heaven, is because of timid translations.   That really sounded like truth to me; I've seen many times where the original Hebrew is so much fuller in meaning in many of the scriptures.   Tyler Blanski has done his homework and if you are looking for a book that has notes that give you resources to back up what he's saying and to give you a chance for further study; this is it.

Book Review: Outrageous Courage

Outrageous Courage: What God Can Do with Raw Obedience and Radical Faith
A book written about a woman Tracy Evans, an every day woman living an Indiana Jones kind of Adventure of Faith.  Written to inspire, comfort you when you fall down and enlarge your vision of true Christianity.  Although she is unknown to most,  she is honest in sharing her times of failure, how God  didn't waste one ounce of learning and that God loved her through it all. She didn't get there overnight; but she shares many of the adventures she's been on.   Her definition of the Secret door to the Great Adventure with God?  Blind faith and wild trust!

I really liked the book, it wasn't written with a prideful attitude and includes and gives credit to many other people in the "cast of characters" in her story. She also addresses the revelation that she lived, that the older she got in her faith, the younger she needed to get; that childlike wonder and approach to life . The words " spend yourself" in Isaiah 58:10 was mentioned and seems a very good description of her life and others that she mentioned.
In the end Kris Vallotton capped it all by saying he believes we were ALL created for adventure . And this also stood out big, "  Write your obituary and work backwards; and people won't have to  lie about you at your funeral".   You want to live to the outer limits of your destiny?  Hang out with people who scare you!!
