BOOK REVIEW- BEAUTY AND THE SPACE BEAST by J.M. PAGE

Beauty and the Space Beast: A Space Age Fairy Tale (Star-Crossed Tales) by [Page, J. M.]
Beauty

Mara Duport has always dreamed of home, a place where she belongs. She knows that she has one, but ever since she was a kid, her dad’s been keeping the secret of her origin locked away, refusing to give her any information.

Dad’s been keeping more than one secret. He’s in debt — a lotof debt — and the ruthless pirates he borrowed the money from are coming to collect.

The pirate captain is renowned the galaxy over for his brutishness and cruelty — but when Mara sees his stoic face, her heart races, her mouth goes dry… and she offers herself as payment.

Space Beast

Torak of Basniel has a fierce, uncaring, ruthless reputation to live up to. So when a beautiful, innocent woman offers herself up to him on a platter, Torak doesn’t think twice. What does he care about stealing away this man’s precious daughter?

But Torak gets a more than he’s bargained for. Mara’s more than just innocent — she’s also intelligent, skilled, beautiful — and she can see right through him, past the thorny exterior, down to the heart he thought died long ago.

Being vulnerable was never part of the plan. Love was never part of the plan.

Torak knows he’s an irredeemable monster, but with Mara he feels different. He sees the opportunity to be more than what’s always been expected.

Mara knows that there’s something beautiful and redeemable inside Torak, and she won’t leave him until he finds it.

Not until she can tame the beast.

Beauty and the Space Beast is 50,000 words of exciting, page-turning, romance with strong themes of self-discovery and adventure. This book contains NO harsh language, explicit violence, or graphic romance scenes. It is an adult romance, but is suitable for older YAs as well. I hope you enjoy!AMAZON   4 STARS

I enjoyed this book; which had good interesting main characters.  It also had a "crew" of secondary people who added to the story.  It also had a twist that I didn't  see coming and I always like that.  Torak's struggle of rejection was easy to tap into to and understand and feel.  He was hated all his life for something outside his control.   The planet he came from; his race was known to be harsh and hard to deal with.  So Torak spent most of his life living down to that image. He inspired terror to all those around him, until Mara, that is.  He didn't even think the people he came from could love, so just imagine how confused he starts to be when he's around Mara.  Mara isn't any more clearheaded than Torak because she begins to see things to like about him.  And that shocks her because she has heard how ruthless a pirate he is and the Basniel race is known to be pretty ruthless too!
Plenty of misunderstandings to go around and Mara has a dangerous secret. One so secret that even she doesn't know what it is.  But there are 2 other people who do know if only she can shake the truth loose before its too late.

I was surprised to learn that there was a Bonus Book included, "The Prince and the Cyborg".

THE CYBORG
Celine Velmann’s never seen the sky. Her entire life, she’s lived in the Wastelands, where brutal dust storms that fill the sky are a way of life. She’s always dreamed of the stars that she’s only seen in pictures, but even her infallible robotic arm can’t craft the technology to get into orbit, so she’s stuck on the ground.

When she sees a ship crash, Celine’s drawn toward it like a magnet — maybe this is the chance she’s always hoped for, the chance to escape her dusty life for something more. But when the hatch opens to reveal a half-dead but handsome human, she thinks twice.

After all, her father’s warned her that humans are dangerous. That, if they could, they’d kill every last one of Celine’s kind.

THE PRINCE
Ben’s never been good at anything but flying, but in the air, he’s the best there ever was. When the King — Ben’s father — orders all flights in the city grounded, he’s left stir-crazy and starved for action. Crazy enough to steal a ship and volunteer for a desperate, doomed, last-resort mission straight into the gaping maw of the Wasteland.

A day later he wakes up in a hospital bed, broken and bruised. The only thing he can remember about the Wasteland is a beautiful woman with vivid eyes, a soothing voice... and a mechanical arm.

Everyone knows cyborgs are just a legend, something parents tell their kids about to keep them in line. But when a beautiful, familiar woman shows up in the City, Ben finds her veryintriguing. Things go off the rails quickly when Ben’s city is exposed to the punishing dust and Celine realizes her family is in the crosshairs of a vengeful alien.

Can Ben and Celine overcome age-old prejudice to discover happiness together and save the planet, or will fear and suspicion get the best of them and doom them all?

The Prince and the Cyborg is 51,000 words of thrilling, page-turning, romance with strong themes of self-acceptance and adventure. This book contains NO harsh language, explicit violence, or graphic romance scenes. It is an adult romance, but is suitable for older YAs as well. I hope you enjoy!
 (less)

I really enjoyed this one a lot; I think maybe even more than the other one.  It was more out of the box was some interesting world building and unique people.  I found it easy to get into to. There was those people who were privileged to live above ground in a walled protected city.  And another group of people had hidden away in tunnels just scraping out a life.  They did have some progress when it came to building things and working around the fact that the swirling dust in their area of the planet could be a killer.   And if not killing someone or something, it still was quite destructive.

Both Ben and Celine were interesting main characters with frustrated dreams.  One that most people around them didn't understand.  But they were both people of honor. As time goes on they begin to appreciate each other more and more.  Until that appreciation, understanding and attraction builds to something much more!
And they will get their H.E.A. and a good Epilogue.  Such a good Epilogue that there was also a Bonus Epilogue, which was good  surprise.  I wasn't expecting that either.

BOOK REVIEW- ROYAL PAIN by Tracy Wolff

Royal Pain: A His Royal Hotness Novel by [Wolff, Tracy]
Being rich opens a lot of doors. When you’re rich and royal, those doors lead to a new bedroom every night. I should know. The tabloids call me His Royal Hotness, Prince Kian of Wildemar. Women across the world see me as a naughty fairy tale, an image I’m happy to indulge. As the spare to the heir, I’m the prince with none of the power . . . and all of the perks.

Then my twin brother is kidnapped, and suddenly I’m the one who could be king. The crown chasers start circling—and yet it’s a luscious waitress who catches my eye. With a smart mouth and the curves to back it up, Savannah Breslin is as brazen as I’d expect an American commoner to be.

But Savvy’s not interested in playing Cinderella. As sexy as she is, she’s no stranger to heartbreak. Besides, a nice guy wouldn’t drag her into all the drama that comes along with royalty. Lucky I’m not a nice guy. And, as it turns out, I might not even be her first prince. . . .AMAZON 3.5 STARS

It was a good story when there was a story.  There was a Ton of sex; it almost felt like an overload of it.  It was an emotional story as well and that part was done well.

The twins father, the King was one cold dude.  I can see where he would care about his country but his caring about his sons for themselves is almost non-existent.  There was only one time when he  was even remotely likable but then he reverted to form.  So the main characters were good and so was the struggles that they went through too.  Even Kian's brother, Garrett wasn't haven't it so good either.  It remains to see how long he will be in captivity, who has him, what do they want and will he make it back ..alive?  Is he going to be the future King or not?

Even the emotional struggle between Kian and Savvy was pretty good.  He wanted Savvy to really see him and not as a second best choice or no choice at all.  Savvy is having a hard time with taking him seriously because of that very bad reputation that he has as His Royal Hotness.

I think that story had the potential to be even so much better but it didn't FULLY get there.

I received a copy of this book through Netgalley and this is my honest opinion of it.

BOOK REVIEW- UNDETECTED by Dee Henderson

Undetected by [Henderson, Dee]
Commander Mark Bishop is deliberately low-key: "I'm in the Navy." But commanding the ballistic missile submarine USS Nevada, keeping her crew trained and alert during ninety-day submerged patrols, and being prepared to launch weapons on valid presidential orders, carries a burden of command like few other jobs in the military. Mark Bishop is a man who accepts that resposibility, and handles it well. And at a time when tensions are escalating around the Pacific Rim, the Navy is glad to have him.

Mark wants someone to come home to after sea patrols. The woman he has in mind is young, with a lovely smile, and verysmart. She's a civilian, yet she understands the U.S. Navy culture. And he has a strong sense that life with her would never be boring. But she may be too deep in her work to see the potential in a relationship with him.

Gina Gray would love to be married. She has always envisioned her life that way. A breakup she didn't see coming, though, has her focusing all her attention on what she does best--ocean science research. She's on the cusp of a major breakthrough, and she needs Mark Bishop's perspective and help. Because what she told the Navy she's figured out is only the beginning. If she's right, submarine warfare is about to enter a new and dangerous chapter. AMAZON 4 STARS

I liked it but also with some reservations. In some ways it was a bit of a mixed bag for me.   It's clear that the author did her homework when it came to the Navy, submarines and the sea patrols.  But for me it was a little too heavy with some of those Naval details. I probably would have liked it even better if some of that had been dialed back a bit.  It was a good look though into how tough it is for those out on patrol for months; both those serving and those waiting for their return. That was pretty well done in my opinion.

Gina was quite the surprise both with her genius and her flaws.  Her occasional speech freeze was something unique and I liked how people supported her and helped her when it happened.
She went from hoping for one man who would be seriously interested in her to later having two men who were .  It presented a whole lot of challenges.  But I liked how honorably both men dealt with each other as they tried to win her heart.

Mark was older, had been married before; he was a widower with a past really good marriage beneath his belt.   And he wanted it again; he saw who Gina really was but it took him awhile to realize they COULD be a team.  A really good one, Another plus was that he was an man who was active in his faith as was Gina.  God plays an integral part in this story, but I think that fact is a well written strand that adds to it.
There are also some good supporting people in the story as well.

Things do become heated and intense when clashes start happening internationally.  And it places both Mark and Gina's brother, Jeff right in the middle of it.  Will Gina's scientific discoveries help or not come in time?  You can feel the tension of those questions.

An Invitation from the Heart of God to the Prophets (FIRE) by Lana Vawser

love of god i love jesus gods love love you hearts on fire identity in ...
AN INVITATION FROM THE HEART OF GOD TO THE PROPHETS.. ‘WILL YOU EMBRACE MY FIRE?’
I recognise this is a long word, but I encourage you to take some time to read this word. I have been sitting on this prophetic word for quite a while now. I felt the heart of this word is not condemnation, for God’s heart is never to condemn, but this is an invitation to embrace the fire that He is increasing upon the prophets and the prophetic movement right now. His heart is to bring us up higher and to a place of stewarding His heart with great care, purity and integrity in this new season. We have and have had some amazing examples in the body of Christ of this very thing. I am so thankful for the prophets who have gone before me and have prepared the way and continue to do so and set such a beautiful example for me of how to steward His heart with wisdom, purity and integrity. I am releasing this prophetic word below as I heard it, and my prayer is that as prophets of God we will embrace the fire that the Lord is increasing to continue to bring us to a place of greater pure articulation of His heart and Word.
"My prophets, I love you, My heart burns with ferocious love for you. This is a time of purification. This is a time to come up higher. This is a time of positioning. Out of My love for you, I am calling you, I am challenging you, I am inviting you deeper and higher than you have ever been. I do not condemn you, I embrace you. This call being released from My heart is bringing a deep cleansing to you and the prophetic movement. This word from My heart as you embrace My fire, will bring you deeper into My heart and knowing My secrets like you have ever seen. The privilege and awakening of hearing the whispers that stir within My heart. Oh how I love you My prophets and am longing and yearning for you to embrace the fire I am releasing upon you.
"I am cleansing the prophetic movement. I am cleansing where there has been mixture. I am cleansing where there has been impurity in prophetic words released. I am cleansing where there has been a mixture of striving, flesh and competition contaminating My flow. I am guarding My flock and I am guarding My Bride, and the enemy is attempting in various ways in this season to hinder the prophets, to lure the prophets into temptations, compromises, fleshly feasts and competition, jealousy and striving in order to hinder what I want to release.
Prophets think it not strange the increase of My fire coming upon you, firing your heart. Do not fight it, embrace it, for it is positioning you for greater promotion and favour to release My Word with greater purity of prophetic flow, void of contamination and mixture.
Prophets who continue to tickle ears with words not flowing from My heart will be brought low in this season. Those prophets who steward My heart and what I speak, allowing My fire of conviction, purification and all consuming fire to purge their hearts and their lips, will be exalted into high places to proclaim the pure word of My heart. My fire as it is embraced is birthing a fire of resolve and conviction within them to come deeper into the place of stewardship of My Word.
In My fire that I am releasing upon the prophetic movement, those that embrace the fire will move to a whole new level of divine strategy, revelation, insight, wisdom and weightiness in the words that I entrust them with to release and equip My Church with and the nations of the world. A complacency has entered many hearts regarding the words of My heart. There has been a loss of value of the weightiness of My Word that I am releasing to the prophets in this season as the enemy attempts to cause them to fall into these areas of striving and competition. I am shifting gears in the prophetic movement. I am changing the guards.
There is a whole new realm of revelation and supernatural insight opening up to the prophets and they are leading My people into this new level of revelation, strategy and insight of the words of My heart, but the fire must fall upon the prophets before it can be released into the Church. This is a groundbreaking season. This is a season where I am doing something completely new, My Spirit is going to be poured out in ways that no eye has ever seen, nor has ear ever heard, and in preparation for what I am pouring out, room must be made for the new. In My fire that has been released upon the prophets and the prophetic movement, I am RESTORING the revelation and manifestation of living in awe of Me upon the prophets and the Church. Like Isaiah when he had an encounter with Me in My Glory, and he was face down before Me as He saw Me in reverence and awe, I am bringing My prophets into greater encounters like Isaiah, to restore the awe and reverence in places where it has been lost.
Embrace the fire My prophets, embrace the fire I am releasing. For what I am releasing cannot be contained by hearts that are attempting to manufacture words, manufacture opportunities, manufacture positioning, manufacture increasing. What I am releasing can be contained by those who linger in My presence. Those who are laid down, who are living with a LOUD YES before Me and have a heart cry to release only that which I am speaking. That live as DIVINE ECHO’S of My heart. Those that only speak that which I speak. Those that will speak when no one else is speaking. Those that will speak My message when it may not tickle ears, but challenge, convict and call higher. Those that are sold out to carrying My heart and the secrets of My heart with purity, integrity and humility.
I am looking for those prophets who will do whatever it takes, pay whatever it costs, to carry My heart not for the praises of men, but for the praise of My heart.
My prophets, I love you! I am calling you higher! I am calling you higher! I am a ferocious lover! I am a passionate pursuer! I am the shepherd of My flock, and what I am releasing to My people and into the nations will not be contained by agenda, it will not be contained by competition, it will not be contained by compromise. It will not be contained by striving or envy. It will be contained by the laid down lovers, who have one heart motive and that’s to know Me, hear My heart and release it with purity and integrity. I am not looking for perfection, or ability, I am looking for the laid down lover prophets, who are saying “YES, I am ALL IN, I am sold out to You and Your Word, and I will not operate and be contained and led by the praises of men, or compromised by the displeasure of men, but led by Your heart and Your praise of me.”
Prophets of My heart, embrace My fire and receive a greater revelation of My heart. You must embrace this fire in order to carry the weightier words of My heart. Are you willing? Are you willing to lay down your agendas? Lay down your competition, lay down your ‘boxes’ and offences, allow Me to come in with My furious all consuming love and heal you, strengthen you, and burn away anything that would contaminate? The guards are changing. The new positioning is taking place, but in order to receive the new, you must allow Me to make room. As you embrace My fire, and move through by My Spirit, you will see Me position you in ways you never expected. Positions of favour and increase like you never imagined. Standing before kings and those of great influence to release the Rhema word of My heart. That anything that would come to lure you to compromise My Word would not even be a temptation as you stand burning in conviction and awe of who I am and the privilege that it is to steward and carry My heart. You will carry My fire in a way you have never carried it before and into areas and places you never imagined watching as signs, wonders and miracles manifest all around. I am taking you to a new level of being marked by fire and releasing My fire. In order to release My fire, you must embrace it and allow it to consume you.
The fire upon you My prophets and the prophetic movement is FOR YOUR GOOD. I want My prophets to represent My heart well and many who have gone before you have done that, but I see the lures, I see the contamination creeping into many hearts and lives of the prophets in this season, and as a loving Father, I will embrace, challenge, convict, discipline and call you higher, so you may walk in all that I have called you to.
A new level of the manifestation of awe of Me, holiness, purity, humility and fire is about to explode upon prophets and the prophetic realm in significant ways.
But you must be ready!
Are you willing to embrace My fire to carry My heart no matter the cost?
The invitation is upon you My prophets, and the greatest reward is upon you. Knowing Me and My heart in a way you have never known before.
The choice is yours!
In the embracing you will find a greater awakening to My love. How I love you!! You will burn with the fire of My love and the all consuming nature of My fire within you.

BOOK REVIEW- PROTECT AND SERVE by Terri Reed

But then he discovers Gina Perry hiding nearby—a pretty junior trainer who had the motive, means and opportunity to kill her boss. Suddenly, Shane—a cop who always hoped to join a big-city force—vows to stay by Gina's side as a murderer lurks in the small-town shadows.
Rookie K-9 Unit: These lawmen solve the toughest cases with the help of their brave canine partners.
AMAZON 3.5 stars

Basically a good story with quite a few twists when it came to the chase.  Good main characters and supporting cast.  That's including the canine characters too!

It just felt slow and repetitive some of the time. It also felt like it was a bit shallow when it came to the people and could have been a bit deeper.

It was a stand alone story with everything concluded for the main characters.  But there is one mystery that is not solved and could lead to another book.  But it doesn't make you feel like you are left hanging.
This is a clean book with a H.E.A.or at least it looks like it was heading that way.

BOOK REVIEW- THE SHEIKH'S RANSOM By Kylie Knight

35424318

Two cultures collide in a dangerous romance…

At the opening of his new boutique waterfront hotel in Seattle, Sheikh Malik al-Riaz’s breath is taken away by Eva, a beautiful grad student waitressing at the party. Unaware who he is, Eva is drawn to the dark and handsome man and when they share a kiss, their connection is undeniable.
After a passionate few days together, both of them realize they are helplessly falling in love with the other.
When the fiercely independent Eva realizes who he is, she is rattled but Malik convinces her that their great differences in rank and wealth mean nothing to him.
Fearing the Sheikh’s new American love will threaten his own rise to power, his most trusted advisor, the ambitious and malevolent Adham has Eva violently abducted, planning to have her murdered and use the Sheikh’s grief to take over the country.
Can Malik get to her before Adnam takes her life and destroys Malik’s heart forever.

I liked this one, it wasn't real deep but it was enjoyable. Malik and Eva did fall in love pretty darn quick.  I guess I would rate it as a quick romance story. There is a fast courtship, a quick way of understanding each other that included sexually.  Throw in some danger and a H.E.A. and we're good.

I didn't see anywhere to rate this book on Amazon but I did find it on Goodreads.  Goodreads Link

Very attractive eBook cover; at least I think so.

On a side note, I wasn't sure what bracken colored eyes meant exactly.  I cared enough to look it up.  And surprise, surpise I got 26 Swagbucks for my search.  I'm not sure everyone knows what that is, but I sure was pleased.  Made it a win-win.

BOOK REVIEW- NEVER SEDUCE A SCOT by Maya Banks

Never Seduce a Scot: The Montgomerys and Armstrongs by [Banks, Maya]
Eveline Armstrong is fiercely loved and protected by her powerful clan, but outsiders consider her “touched.” Beautiful, fey, with a level, intent gaze, she doesn’t speak. No one, not even her family, knows that she cannot hear. Content with her life of seclusion, Eveline has taught herself to read lips and allows the outside world to view her as daft. But when an arranged marriage into a rival clan makes Graeme Montgomery her husband, Eveline accepts her dutyunprepared for the delights to come. Graeme is a rugged warrior with a voice so deep and powerful that his new bride can hear it, and hands and kisses so tender and skilled that he stirs her deepest passions.

Graeme is intrigued by the mysterious Eveline, whose silent lips are ripe with temptation and whose bright, intelligent eyes can see into his soul. As intimacy deepens, he learns her secret. But when clan rivalries and dark deeds threaten the wife he has only begun to cherish, the Scottish warrior will move heaven and earth to save the woman who has awakened his heart to the beautiful song of a rare and magical love.AMAZON 5+ STARS

Outstanding! This book was so different and I enjoyed reading about Eveline overcoming and finally beginning thrive with her so called"deficiency". Loved every minute of it.  Eveline was such a brilliant character.  And for all of the fierceness of Graeme, he treated her with such kindness.  Even though they were both on different sides of decades of bloody feuding.  Hated enemies.
Good secondary people, some of them have a book of their own and I
plan on reading their stories too.
This was an emotional book as well as one that has many plots going on.  It flows smoothly though and doesn't feel overwhelming.  It did have me on the edge of my seat quite often.   There were so many challenges.
The tenderness between Graeme and Eveline was so touching.  So was the ability to communicate when it seemed like they never would be able to.

The author's note was such a great addition to the book too and I'm so glad that it was added.  I liked that she was inspired to write part of this story because of personal experience.

BOOK REVIEW- IMMORTAL UNCHAINED by Lynsay Sands

Immortal Unchained: An Argeneau Novel by [Sands, Lynsay]
Ever since Domitian Argenis recognized Sarita as his life mate, he’s been waiting for the perfect moment to claim her. Those fantasies did not include him being chained to a table in a secret lab or both of them being held hostage by a mad scientist. Somehow, they have to escape…
Sarita has seen some crazy things as a cop, but nothing to rival Domitian. A vampire? Seriously? But his healing ability, incredible powers, and their mind-blowing physical connection—none of it should be possible, yet her body knows differently. Now, not only do they have to save each other, but other innocent lives are at stake. Failure is not an option, for Sarita intends that Domitian show her exactly what an eternity of pleasure feels like…AMAZON  3.5 STARS

Mixed feelings on this one.  I did like both of the main charters, so that is a plus.  And some of the secondary people were interesting too. Also a quick pop in from some people from previous books.

Did anyone else notice that some of the story had a bit of a feeling like the movie, "The Island of Dr. Moreau"?  Of course with the element of some Immortals thrown in too.  Not a bad story but as I read it, "I thought please let this be the end of this Dr. Dressler.  I'd really like to see this part of the stories come to an end".  I guess you will have to read the story to find out how THAT went.

If you are looking for action and a chase; yes there was that as well.  There was some action of the "horizontal" kind as well.  Of course, because of the attraction between life mates.

On a final note, I guess this Series is starting to lose some its "sparkle" for me.  At least this book came in at middle ground for me.

BOOK REVIEW- TREMAINE'S TRUE LOVE by Grace Burrowes

Tremaine's True Love (True Gentlemen Book 1) by [Burrowes, Grace]
He's had everything he could ever want...until now
Wealthy wool magnate Tremaine St. Michael is half French, half Scottish, and all business. He prowls the world in search of more profits, rarely settling in one place for long. When he meets practical, reserved Lady Nita Haddonfield, he sees an opportunity to mix business with pleasure by making the lady his own.
Nita Haddonfield has a meaningful life tending to others, though nobody is dedicated to caring for Nita. She insists the limitations of marriage aren't for her, then Tremaine St. Michael arrives-protective, passionate, and very, very determined to win Nita's heart.    AMAZON  3.5 STARS

The main characters were good and so were the secondary ones too.  Some of those other ones would be the brothers and sisters of Nita.  Her real first name was Bernita but I have to say I liked her nickname better.  She understands that she has a gift of healing that she learned much of at her mother's knee.  She's sacrificed a lot to practice it.  Her family worries about her and she's wearing herself to the bone.  She had given us the hope of marriage, thinking her life would all be about healing other people and their babies instead of having her own.  After meeting Tremaine, things began to be more challenging to that thought.  She finds she likes him, and sees many good qualities about him.  As he begins to really see her and admire her qualities as well.  Then of course the physical attraction begins to build between them too. But that by no means is a guarantee that Nita will marry him.
This is the main story but there is also a couple of layers of a few other stories going on too.  They don't dominate the book but they do add to it.
I did like that we got to read from both of the main characters P.O.V.
As much as I liked Tremain and Nita both separately and as a couple; I only gave it a 3.5 Stars rating on Amazon.  It was a charming story, with a few gritty things that had to be addressed , but even with that, there really wasn't quite the depth that I had hoped for.

I've been reading and enjoying this series for a while now.  Toni has been in most of the other stories in one way or another.  I've been waiting for her story and now I'm glad it's finally here.

Scott and Toni are two people so totally different from each other.  He's been an honest cop for years and Toni lives her own code which often crosses the line of lawfulness.  Things get upset in a big way because their mutual enemy Sterling is still out there.  He killed her mother and Scott's wife at separate times.  Sterling has been a step or two ahead of them and Toni's family for some time now.  Is this the book where they finally are able to put a stop to his evil?  You will have to read the book to find out.  It has a pretty interesting chase to it.
Toni has had a "crush" on Scott for some time but her default position is to be a smart mouth and that does continue.  Both of them are dealing with multiple attacks against them.  Toni is going to go it alone but Scott is not having any part of them.  He finds a way to insert himself into her plans.  That also includes him the danger too.  He was already in Sterling's sights and this only makes it worse.
There will be plenty of action until the story ends.  Along with some "cameo" appearances of her sisters and their "mates".
Scott might be reluctant to be a thief and cross the law lines but he finds he's less reluctant when it comes to spending more time with Toni.  He finds himself admiring her more and more; he starts seeing her positive attributes.  And over time, he finds he's thinking about her more and more and less about his dead wife.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy and this is my honest opinion of it.

I received a ARC of this book and this is my honest thoughts about the book.

BOOK REVIEW- AS RICH AS A ROGUE by Jade Lee

As Rich as a Rogue (Rakes and Rogues Book 3) by [Lee, Jade]
Peter George Norwood, Lord Whitly, returns to London a wealthy man in want of a wife. And who better but the woman who fires his heart like no other, the "Wayward Welsh" heiress Mari Powel?
Mari Powel's fiery Welsh temper is up. Peter Norwood, Lord Whitly, is back in town after six years romping around India making his fortune. Mari blames him for her social downfall and has spent all this time clawing her way back into the ton's good graces. How dare he show up on his first day back and publicly embroil her in a bet involving long-awaited apologies, illicit kisses, and Lady Illston's unruly parakeet? Mari is outraged, and is going to show him—and everyone else—what she's made of. Little does she know, the unrepentant Lord Whitly has been dreaming of her all this time. Now he'll do anything to win the wager—along with Mari's heart.    AMAZON 4 STARS

Good main characters and some interesting secondary ones too.  Mari's father didn't have a huge part but when he showed up he made things interesting.  As did Lady Elanor as stuffy and socially correct as she was.  She was so bland as to be almost invisible.  She has been hired to help Mari find a husband worthy of her.  No fortune hunters for her.  That was on the top of her list because yes, she was a list maker.
Poor Mari is being torn between who she really is and trying to fit a mold of never doing anything attention getting.  Peter had dubbed her years ago as the Wayword Welsh, not knowing that it would stick and cause her all kinds of problems.  One that hurt her and caused her to try to contain herself into a proper but dowdy boring person.
Peter has done some major growing up during his time in India but Mari is leading him on a merry dance when it comes to trying to court her.
Peter's best friend, Ash, Lord Rimbury always has Peter's back and I really was pulling for him to prosper.  For things to go well for him.
There are twists, turns and some surprises coming.  I liked the book but there was a time or two when it felt like it dragged a bit.  But as I continued, the surprises started coming out.
I liked the eBook cover, it's charming and attractive.

BOOK REVIEW- MYSTIC PASSION/WILD ROSE by Denise Moncrief

Mystic Passion: 6 Paranormal Romance Novels by [Moncrief, Denise, Barrett, Nikki Lynn, Ayala, Rachelle, Coady, Sharon, Rhondeau, Chantel, Barbour, Mimi]

AMAZON

Being a single mom is tough for Dani Wilde without friends and family around to help, but escaping the town where she grew up and starting life fresh seems like her only option. If she stays in Montrose, Dani will get pulled back into her baby daddy’s life, and she doesn’t want her child around him or his friends.
Moving back to Telluride doesn’t seem like such a good idea, but Cole LaFleur has no other choice. His mother needs help to reopen the old Wild Rose Inn she inherited from her father, and Cole needs to get away from the heartache he left behind in California. When his mother hires a woman with a baby to work with him, he can’t see how hiring Dani can be anything but trouble.
Strange things begin to happen in the old hotel, and it seems the renovations have stirred up more than dust.

I have only read, '' Wild Rose," so that is the one I am reviewing here right now.  This one was quite the different story.  The main characters were good.  But there was also some unexpected secondary
"characters" that surprised me.  And not just me, they also shocked and surprised Dani and Cole.  And the Wild Rose Inn that they were attempting to restore/re-furbish had plenty of surprises too.  It was a labyrinth full of surprises!  For every step forward they made working on the Inn, things would happen to set them back two or three more steps.
Dani and Cole had misunderstandings right out of the gate.  He was grumpy and irritated  by Dani being hired without his interviewing her. His mother hired her and he had been hoping for a handyman who could help relieve some of his burden   His mother was doing a lot of weird things and he just can't get a straight answer out of her.  Plus he's been doing all the work and getting very little sleep with all the odd things happening at the Inn.
Cole is also grumpy because he has a woman all picked out to be part of his future and its not Dani.  Oh, the attraction is there but he's living in the Land of Denial when it comes to thinking the woman he is dating is the one for him.  Emily, is one piece of selfish nastiest, which he begins to see hints of as times goes on.  But he still tries to convince himself that she is his future.  Frankly, I thought he deserved better.
The pace of the story was pretty good although a few times it felt like it dragged a bit.
Things do work out.  Eventually.  With a H.E.A., no cliffhangers and best of all my favorite.  A good Epilogue.

On a side note, when I saw the eBook cover I thought, "wow, why in the world would that be picked for the cover?"  I'll be honest..I thought it was pretty unattractive; scary even.  But after reading the book it made perfect sense!!

"I received an Advanced Review Copy of this book and willingly reviewed it."

BOOK REVIEW- ABOUT LAST NIGHT by Ruthie Knox

About Last Night by [Knox, Ruthie]
Cath Talarico knows a mistake when she makes it, and God knows she's made her share. So many, in fact, that this Chicago girl knows London is her last, best shot at starting over. But bad habits are hard to break, and soon Cath finds herself back where she has vowed never to go . . . in the bed of a man who is all kinds of wrong: too rich, too classy, too uptight for a free-spirited troublemaker like her.

Nev Chamberlain feels trapped and miserable in his family's banking empire. But beneath his pinstripes is an artist and bohemian struggling to break free and lose control. Mary Catherine--even her name turns him on--with her tattoos, her secrets, and her gamine, sex-starved body, unleashes all kinds of fantasies.

When blue blood mixes with bad blood, can a couple that is definitely wrong for each other ever be perfectly right? And with a little luck and a lot of love, can they make last night last a lifetime?
  AMAZON   5 STARS

Loved it! I've got to say it almost didn't happen that way.  Not a fan of InstaSex or a book that has a lot of sex, which they did have.  BUT...I hung in there and continued mainly I think because of Quirky Cath.   Her observations and inner dialogue were hilarious as well as unique.  The pull of the Old Cath,(the Bad One) and the New Cath, (the one trying to be good) were hilarious all on their own.  I fell in "like" with the personality of Cath, I could see her being a best friend.  Or as City/Nev called her 'Mary Catherine" (her real name.)  Nev was such an interesting, considerate man, someone she began to trust.  As she got to know him, she even liked what she called his shark smile.  She knew when that appeared it was time to play.  It was amusing how long she called him City without actually saying his real name.
In no way was Nev perfect, he was a man with his own challenges.  His family being one of those challenges.  His mother and brother specifically and the fact that his father almost never stood up against them.  His father was more of a gentle, peaceful man.  Of course, he also didn't know some of the things his family was up to either.
What can I say?  I enjoyed the whole story. It was emotional and interesting all the way through.

This different and delicious sheikh romance is Kris Pearson's all-time best seller. Her passionate sheikh is a man to fall deeply in love with.  AMAZON  4 STARS

And here are my thoughts on each book:

The Boat Builder’s Bed
I liked this book.  The main characters Rafe and Sophie were good ones.  Each with their own struggles of course.  Rafe had fought through most of them and won but he still had the deep desire to have a loving family.  He was raised by loving relatives but the rejection that he suffered from his mother and father was outrageous.  He was basically rejected for the color of his skin; he wasn't pale enough.  I liked how the Maori culture was explained and woven into the story.  My favorite explanation was about getting Maori Revenge.  What a great way to explain to a child how to overcome rejection.  And he did.

I would have liked to see a bit  more depth in the relationship between Rafe and Sophie.  But don't we always want more?

MELTING HIS HEART-
Misunderstandings happen right out of the gate.  Kate is almost instantly attracted to Matt but is believing he is already taken.  And being a good woman, she doesn't mess with married men.  Oh, the problems this causes.
Kate is looking for a new life but she's finding quite a few challenges along the way.   The main one being Matthew.
I did enjoy the fact that I got to "hear" both P.O.V.'s from the main characters. Charlotte/Lottie made for a good, quirky secondary character too.
Overall it was a good emotional, push towards-pull away, romance story.  And the misunderstandings continued for a while because of past hurts and suspicions. Speaking of suspicions, Kate's father isn't even there and he is causing problems that he doesn't even know about.   There is also some humorous games that went on too.
I enjoyed this book; a charming but at times hot story that ends up with a H.E.A. and no cliffhangers.

Taken by the Sheikh
I liked the story, in fact the book blurb caught my attention because of the different sounding plot.  I think it did a pretty good job of keeping my interest because of the difference from the usual ideas.  Both of the main characters were also able to keep my attention and there are also some interesting secondary people in the story.  There is also another unexpected surprise waiting for Laurel, we the readers get to hear about it first as the story runs.  It added another element to the story.  It was a good surprise for a change.  One that Laurel will enjoy.  The story does have some predictable moments but in the long run still managed to be enjoyable.  There is a HEA with no cliffhangers.  A good afternoon story.
****UPDATED NOTE*** I found that when I read this book again, I enjoyed it more than the first time.  The first time on Amazon I gave it 3.5 Stars but for some reason I enjoyed it a lot more.   Felt like it really was worth 4 Stars instead.

BOOK REVIEW- MELTING HIS HEART by Kris Pearson

Melting His Heart: Sexy New Zealand enemies-to-lovers romance (The Heartlands Series Book 1) by [Pearson, Kris]
Meet Matthew and Kate - the first of three hot couples from Kris Pearson’s New Zealand Heartlands Series.
Kate Pleasance needs to flee her home city of Auckland and create a new life away from family stress and infidelity. Might the advertisement seeking a ‘Superwoman’ be her answer? Short-listed, she’s flown to the vibrant winter tourist resort of Queenstown at her prospective employer’s expense. Snow is dusting the mountain tops as the jet glides in, and she’s shocked to be collected by tall, dark internet billionaire Matthew McLeod. Where is the woman she spoke with on the phone?

Kate is driven first to hospital to meet his injured sister, and then to their magnificent home to stay the night. Lottie is a world-famous painter, and Kate craves the job as her assistant, but she’s totally unsettled by charismatic Matthew who teases her unmercifully. Knowing she’s dangerously attracted, she vows to refuse the job, should it be offered, and run like hell.

After a disastrous first marriage, Matthew has lived in a freezing void. His duplicitous ex-wife chose him for his money, and when she tried to blackmail him he swiftly divorced her and swore off future entanglements. He’s buried himself in his work to keep the demons at bay, but now there’s a potent new threat tearing at his resolve.

Although she’s plainly diving for cover, job-seeker Kate is dragging his ruthlessly suppressed emotions back to the surface. Temptation he’s easily shrugged off in the past now eats him alive. Can he persuade her to stay long enough to fan the smoldering sparks between them until they burst into white-hot flames?  AMAZON 4 STARS
