BOOK REVIEW- ALWAYS ON MY MIND

Casper Christiansen and  Raina Beaumont have a history; what others called a summer romance.  Nothing serious; but it was so much more. Until things blew up and Casper ran.  But he's home now and ready to try again with Raina.   But Raina has a secret.  She is pregnant and who the father is only makes things worse.  Casper wants to leave again but his family needs his help.  His brother Derek is in over his head trying to reopen the family resort.  No matter how he tries to move on, like Raina tells him to, he just keeps thinking of her all the time.

I  really, really liked this story and the way it was written. The story just seemed to fly by.  It turned out its not only about the struggle that Casper and Raina went through but also Derek and his family too.  Derek, his wife Ivy and son Tiger figured more into the story than I had originally thought they would.  But I enjoyed it; as well as the other members of the Christiansen family.  Casper had spent part of his life as an archaeologist on a dig before returning home and I liked how the author worked that treasure seeking spirit into a different treasure hunting search; the mystery of Duncan Rothe.  The feelings on both Casper and Raina's part I felt pretty quickly; speaks to good writing.  On a side note, as I was reading the author's Acknowledgements page made me smile, it was warm and quirky without being cheesy.
Next came a short letter to Casper from his mother; she called him The Middle Child and it was a touching read.
Yes, this is a Christian novel but without being heavy handed which I believe makes it a story that many will enjoy was well.  The author isn't afraid to weave God as an important part of the story but did it with style in my opinion.  It wasn't the whole story.

BOOK REVIEW- ALL THE BUTTERFLIES IN THE WORLD

Tess McKinnon was looking forward to her senior year in high school when a stranger named John Bartley shows up.  He has the most fantastic "story" about 1800s time travel, rewritten lives, and their having met before.  John was ready to stay there with Tess, until they both saw an old newspaper clipping that says John's uncle was hanged for Tess's murder in 1875.  John just has to do something about that so he returns to his time and when Tess checks again, the clipping now reads that John Barley was hanged for her murder.   What's a girl to do?

As soon as I began to read the very first chapter, I thought, " You know I think I'm as confused as poor Tess."   It was a good way to pull the reader in.  You have to keep reading to begin to figure things out right alongside the heroine.  The history/culture of the 1800's part of the story was pretty well done, with plenty of information and showed some of John's innocence of some of Tess's time period.  For me, some of it went a little more in depth than what I normally would have enjoyed.  The drama of trying to bring Tess's murderer to justice I thought was well done.  And so was the final ending when it came to how things turned out.    This story was a clean read which I liked but it was kind of thin on the romance part of the story.  I thought that there would be a little bit more of that.  The caring and the beginnings of friendship was there though.
Oh, and watch for the twist at the end.  Did I say twist?  Make that "twists", there are a couple.

Did you put on your whole armor of God today? Every morning, I break word curses spoken against me, bind the assignment of the enemy and put on my whole armor, reciting the realities of the protection and weapons God has given us. BOOK REVIEW- CANDLE'S CHRISTMAS CHAIR

When Viscount Avery comes to see an invalid chair maker, he does not expect to find Min Bradshaw, the woman who rejected him 3 years earlier. Or did she? He wonders if there is more to the story. For 3 years, Min Bradshaw has remembered the handsome guardsman who courted her for her fortune. She didn't expect to see him in her workshop, and she certainly doesn't intend to let him fool her again.

I liked both of the main characters and the unusual work that Min was involved in. Although this was a pretty short story, it managed to pack quite a bit in it, and I did enjoy it. It also gave a pretty good view of the times when women working, was frowned upon and men were the only ones required/allowed. When I first began to read this, I thought, "how come she is working, making chair's, it doesn't seem to fit with the culture of the time". Not to worry, that is dealt with in the story. The courtship with flowers was interesting and I'm glad the meanings of the flowers was explained because I didn't pick up on that right at first.

Theresa Phillips: 'Word Of The Lord: 'Get Ready! The Prophetic Realm Is Increasing!'

Theresa Phillips: 'Word Of The Lord: 'Get Ready! The Prophetic Realm Is Increasing!'

While in prayer over 2015, the Lord burst Himself into me. I could feel the presence so very strong. I began to travail over 2015, when the Lord began to speak to me. His first words were:
"NO FEAR, CHURCH. NO FEAR!"
At that moment, I began to sense more of the prophetic coming forth. Different spheres of prophecy for many different people. I waited.
The Prophetic Realm is About to Increase in 2015
"The prophetic realm is about to increase! Some prophets will be emerging with a FRESH revelation which is in tune with Scripture that has been dormant. Yes, dormant, for I have hidden some of My Word for such a time as this," says the Lord.(Photo by Jennifer Page "My Firm Foundation" via elijahshopper.com)
"Oh yes, it's going to be an extremely insightful year packed with REVELATION ahead. Pay attention to the prophets of the WORD. These prophetic utterances will adhere to the Holy Writ while they release REVELATION to My people. Many will become saved in the releasing of the Holy Writ."
Two Types of Prophets, Plus a Warning
"Two types of prophets will emerge: "One will be filled with the precious love of GOD coupled with passion for the Word of GOD. These prophets will show no fear nor discouragement when they speak. They will be kind, reverent, and they will have blazes in their eyes, for their eyes have been seared with the written Word. They will not misuse grace nor will they abuse their place. YET they will be accurate! The second will resemble the love of the Lord and have a revelation steeped in mysticism and legends of people of the past. They will have a quiet, subtle pride, making them exclusive...A PART from the Holy Spirit.
"By mid-2015 a FRESH wind of discernment will flow like a river and many battles will be won for those who have seen well," says the Lord, "and I shall perform the vision."
Jeremiah 1:12 Then said the LORD unto me, "Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten My word to perform it."
"Many prophetic people will begin to display outward repentance, leading many into repentance. While they openly repent, this will start a wave of evangelism this land has yet to see. It will begin in 2015."
God Will Give Many of You Rest and Joy
"In 2015, I the Lord will shut some doors of the past and open a realm of joy for the future in the NOW moment. God will give many rest. (Photo via Pixabay)
"Yes, I will wipe out your past and give you a fresh start. Do not struggle within the rest, for in it you will be getting your house in order so that you may live through the days ahead.
"Arise, My sons and daughters. Arise! Go about doing well for others and you will see that that JOY you once had will return with gusto! The JOY will return and, wow, you will be happy! VERY HAPPY! For the days of darkness will cease and springtime will emerge in the spirit of man while he rests in the BODY of GOD."
Psalm 118:15 Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous: "The LORD's right hand has done mighty things!"
"During this time I will release inventions, ideas, crafts and arts, and prophecy, and music will emerge for new sound."
The Glory of God...Get Ready to Receive It!
"A new sound of GLORY is coming! I say again, a new sound of glory is coming – coming to the land of America, then abroad.
"Yes, I am pouring out this sound on America, for she has seen her woes. I have felt the Church in America feel faint and often lose heart and patience. Get ready, I am pouring out a new wave of glory to excite you once again...be ready to receive it.
"In this new glory I will release a heavenly sound. It's a new sound accompanied by the sounds of the angelic realm. They will come and minister with you, to you, and for you. They will be fire starters and make many run like the wind."
Hebrews 1:7 In speaking of the angels He says, "He makes His angels spirits, and His servants flames of fire."
"Watch, for there will be seven artists who will emerge together to make a sound. Get ready for that sound...it will be marvelous. Watch for this and enjoy what you hear and see. Yes, seven will come together. They will not all have the same background, but they will have the same heart."

A Word For the Women: "Esther-ella, Come Forth!"
"I have hidden a group who will come forth in 2015; they are 'Esther-ellas.' They are the WOMEN who have been in the background. Many will come forth, for they are now prepared to run the race, win the race, and take the reins of many different spheres of influence: the political arena, the judicial arena, the spiritual arena, the musical arenas, corporations, and more. I have called them to these places," says the Lord.
"They will hold themselves with a fresh wave of dignity. They will come forth polished, respectable, and humble. They will all have one goal: WIN THE PEOPLE BACK TO JESUS BY VISITATION with the King.
"These women have been well prepared; they have sat, learned, and waited for SUCH A TIME AS THIS. Despise them not," says the Lord. (Photo by Donna Smallenberg "For Such a Time as This" via elijahshopper.com)
"Esther-ella, come forth out of the ashes into the realm of the King and WIN THOSE LOST. O yes, ESTHER-ELLA, come forth! It's your time!" says the Lord.
"For there are some that will have an audience with Jesus like they never had before. They will be like the ancient ones who have been taught, caught, and released by the Word. Many have been taught by godly spiritual mothers and fathers.
"Those mothers and fathers will emerge strong, and many will seek shelter in their houses, for in their houses they will find teaching. Yes, teaching stations all across the nation with wisdom and fervor of the Lord will release the younger ones and experienced ones with GRACES, POLISH, and FINESSE, and most of ALL, an anointing dispatched from the King's own presence. For in the teaching station many will be taught how to become kings and priests. That release will come late in 2015...a release of kings and priests, to empower a nation and nations in peril, for God is Victor and He will not hold back any longer. He wins.
"The latter end of the year will see mighty armies of the nations begin to form as if a battle is raging. I tell you, I will still this battle one more time and say to My Church, 'Arise and shine, for your time has come. I do have need of you,'" says the Lord God.
Some Scriptures to pray about:
Isaiah 60:1 Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.
Ephesians 5:14 This is why it is said: "Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you."
Isaiah 58:8 Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.
Let us all pray for the Word of the Lord to be sure, clear, and concise, for surely we are the beloved of the Christ. Happy 2015!

BOOK REVIEW- Unexpected Hero (Southern Seas Series)

Sebastian Churnside and Charity Trescothick have never warmed to each other; even though their families had known and cared for each other over the years.  Their lives are so different; he is a business man, son of a sea Captain; the only Churnside who has no sea legs. Charity grew up on the Island with her missionary parents, her mother died there and her father is dying. When Sebastian braved the sea to help the family after her mother's death, Charity began to re-think her idea that he was a distant, uncaring man.   Sebastian saw her as a dutiful, quiet unassuming woman; nothing all that special.  Sebastian, didn't know that Reverend Trescothick would be quick to put a plan into action to try to bring Charity and him together.  And time for her father is running out.
Although I liked the story, it was quite slow. It really was like it was the pace of the slower life on an Island paradise. It is  a pace that I personally didn't enjoy as much, even though I know Sebastian and Charity were trying to get to know each other and that takes time. .  The author did a good job of painting a picture of the Island, its people and some of their culture. I liked the unusual idea of the story and both Sebastian and Charity, they both had their own wounds from life.  There was also a sweet innocence to the story too.

BOOK REVIEW- ALL YOUR NIGHTS

Kade Taylor is a undercover Special Agent for the DEA, who has his eye on an unlikely suspect. His suspect is Brooke Sinclair, who seems to be hanging out with the wrong person as she is studying to complete her doctoral degree   Kade watches her as part of his job, but he also likes what he sees when it comes to Brooke.  He has to keep a fine line between his duty and his attraction. Things heat up when he has to informs her she is suspected of illegal drug activities.   But the secrets and danger that Kade brings with him don't only include his dangerous job of working undercover.  There is a lot more at stake for both Kade and Brooke.  And it goes a lot deeper than just the two of them.

I liked this book, the people and the fact that there were several other stories running in the overall story. I found it easy to read.  Well, except for the fact that I had a bit of a problem keeping up with all the people who were introduced.  For me, there were just too many people and I had to keep sorting out who was who.  Of course that might be because its Book 4 of the series.  It is a standalone story, but maybe it would have been helpful to me to have read some of the other ones, not sure. I did like the developing story between Paige and Nesto though.

BOOK REVIEW- A DANGEROUS PASSION

This story is centered around the building of the railroad as it goes across the West.  The West is still pretty much the Wild, Wild West. Henry Stevens is General Manager for the Railroad; a man who will do whatever it takes to get the job done.   But he's made enemies and someone has come to investigate him.  That's when Lucy Forbes, enters the picture with her father, who is the one sent to investigate Henry's ways. Lucy is young, beautiful, and smart.  There is an attraction building between Henry and Lucy.  But Henry is used to being in control, is very ambitious, used to moving people around like chess pieces and Lucy longs for freedom adventure. Sounds like the Wild West isn't going to be the only challenge.
It took awhile to get into the people and the situations in the story.  As the story went along, I began to see that Henry had a whole lot more on his plate than it seemed at first.  Both personally and professionally.  He is well written as a forceful, often arrogant man, who seemed to think he knows best in all situations.  But there are glimpses into this man's personality; of carefully hidden emotions of caring for others.  The railroad workers call him, "The Chief", and recognize the toughness and authority he carries.  Lucy was someone who at times, I wanted to smack at first.  Probably because she often went off making judgements without the evidence at first.  I also saw in the story that she had reasons to be so mistrustful and protective of her father and his position.  I guess if I was giving this review a title would be, " A Lot of Misunderstandings".  There are quite a few mysteries going on, so that probably made the story seem to go a bit slower, but a little after half way, it really began to gather steam. Sure Henry and Lucy were still fighting each other and still trying to get what they wanted without risking too much but then the other parts of the story began to come together.  Other people of interest were Henry's sister, Claire, Billy (an orphan boy) and the Garrity, the Sheriff.  While I liked the story, I don't think it was one of my favorites so far.
By the way, I did really like the cover picture for this eBook.

and assignments you may have forgotten about.

LANCE WALLNAU/ FACEBOOK

Feel It - See It - Drive It Into Your Subconscious!

Lately I have been looking closer at the strangest of secrets, namely that people produce in their circumstances the material equivalent of what they most deeply feel, think and believe in their inner man.

Think about it. Circumstances are like the ever changing kaleidoscope that mirrors back the dominant thought structures and imaginings we nurture in our heart. We attract or repel the people, ideas and circumsances that most deeply correspond to our hearts emotional condition. If you don't like the world you are atracting you can create another one! Start by noticing who has your ear.

WHO IS INFLUENCING YOU?
The Bible says that Davids troubled son Absolom, "sat at the gate and conversed with anyone who was discontent saying 'if only I were king I would do this differently.' " Gradually he "stole the hearts of Israel" and led a rebellion against his own father. Scary to think about how much of politics, church and the office is driven by the spirit of Absolom. Don't make friends with the discontented because their discontent will rob you of your own stability. The same goes for an angry man or colleagues driven by a lust for money.

THE ULTIMATE WINNING FORMULA
Solomon the wisest (and richest of Kings) gave a formula for those seeking wisdom. He heard the Holy Spirit whisper to him these words:

"Keep my commandments and live, And my teaching as the apple of your eye. Bind them on your fingers; WRITE THEM on the tablet of YOUR HEART. (Proverbs 7:2-3)

Amazing - you can write things on the tablet of your heart. Out of your heart are the issues of life! Here is a winning formula for life - KEEP front and center the Word of God and commune with the thoughts God is speaking. This creates a sanctified chamber of imagery into which you can safely place the PURPOSES, PLANS AND PURSUITS that rise out of your heart. Wealth is no longer a lust or longing or distraction, it is simply a byproduct of the desire created by the PRIMARY PASSION of your communion with God.

When you fill your heart with Gods Words you energize your spirit to entertain Gods thoughts. Out of those thoughts your desire will be formed and created. If you guard that deep inner communion with God you can then trust what is being conceived. You can feel intensely about any goal or image or idea that has been cultivated out from that impregnating conversation. If the same desire and image keeps coming up it is likely that God is the one birthing it! GO FOR IT! Let its hold on you grow, increase and enlarge.

Ambition formed in this union is permission formed by communion.

Make sense?

CELERY- Life Sustaining Veggie

Celery is a strongly alkaline food that helps to counteract acidosis, purify the bloodstream, aid in digestion, prevent migraines, relax the nerves, reduce blood pressure, and clear up skin problems. Celery contains compounds called coumarins which are known to enhance the activity of certain white blood cells and support the vascular system. Celery’s rich organic sodium content has the ability to dislodge calcium deposits from the joints and holds them in solution until they can be eliminated safely from the kidneys. Celery is a well known natural diuretic and has ample ability to flush toxins out of the body. Celery also has significant anti-inflammatory properties making it an essential food for those who suffer from auto-immune illnesses. It also contains significant amounts of calcium and silicon which can aid in the repair of damaged ligaments and bones. Celery is rich in vitamin A, magnesium, and iron which all help to nourish the blood and aid those suffering from rheumatism, high blood pressure, arthritis, and anemia. Fresh celery juice is one of the most powerful and healing juices one can drink. Just 16 oz of fresh celery juice a day can transform your health and digestion in as little as one week. MEDICAL MEDIUM/FACEBOOK

EXCERPTS FROM ARTICLE

No one is ever born a pessimist. That’s a product of nurture, not nature – an odd way to describe an environment and a society that prides itself on fearing, or even anticipating the worst, but nurture it is. Pessimism, doubt, fear, anxiety and fatalism are all qualities of persona that we learn from childhood, and from the people around us that influence us the most. ~~~~

That, of course, is a reference to the most legendarily motivational saying in the Western world, about an optimist seeing a half full glass, while a pessimist sees a half empty glass. It’s supposed to be empowering… it is, after all, the same glass of water, just seen differently. But this apparently positive and encouraging bon mot is, in fact, an exhortation to settle for half a glass of water. To paraphrase another famous aphorism, what would Jesus do with that?
Probably go and fill the glass back up again, hand it to you, and turn it to wine as he did so, but then Jesus is that kind of person. And it’s that kind of person we’re encouraged to pattern ourselves after as Christians, and to leave behind the stimulus and behavior that the world has taught us. We are new people in Christ, but one of the most difficult things we can learn to do is to apply that spiritual knowledge in practical areas in our lives, areas that feel as though they are hardwired, that cannot be rewritten – the ROM of our marvelously wrought brains.~~~~~

In the mind of Christ, however, we can change damaged and damaging perceptions, and think better thoughts. Learned behavior can, and must be unlearned. We’re renewed by the Spirit, and transformation is a fact of life for us now. We may believe that we can change ourselves~~~~~

The Father set us, early on, the example of Paul and the exemplar of His new order, and His covenant with us, so that we would have the story of our own path told to us from the beginning of our journeys with Him – a story of victory. Ask yourselves about your own journey. Where is your focus? Are you distracted by pessimistic thoughts, of past failures and loss? Do you feel as if the past is hardwired, cannot be overwritten? That’s the old you, and that person is gone. Replaced, by something new in the Spirit, a joyful creature waiting to be born.

BOOK REVIEW- FATE'S FABLES

There is a place called "The Keep"; a place where magic has many doorways.  One of those doorways is "The Book of Fables."  Fate Floyd finds herself drawn to her grandmother's old bookstore.  She was drawn there by a spell from the Guardian of the Keep who has an agenda all of her own.  One day she is a novelist, who at seventeen is gaining popularity and the next, she is suddenly thrown into the terrors inside the Book of Fables.
She isn't thrown in through that portal by herself either,  Finn is a stranger she encounters in the bookstore, who seems so familiar.  Now its up to the both of them to go through the 8 horrible fairytales and make each have a "happy ever after" ending so opposite of what they are now.  It's the only way out of the Book; that and bringing back a magical object.  As the fables continue, something dark is growing; trying to break free and destroy everything.  Is anyone getting out of the Book, alive?
This was really quite the story; I thought the origional fairytales I remember as a child had some dark parts to them.  In the description of this book its called a dark fantasy, yes, that is the truth for sure. It opens with action right out of the gate, with wild characters, wild creatures and wild atmospheres.  Fate, and Finn were people easy to begin to care for.  I also liked the people who ended up being friends as they went along their adventure.  Especially interesting friends are, Sithias and Gerdie.  I have to admit it was a well written story; with twists, turns and suprises a plenty.  Even the ending was a surprise; many things were dealt with.  It also ended with a cliffhanger of sorts; a clifffhanger with hope.  It leaves an opening for Book 2 to take you further into the adventure; is you so desire.
Oh, just a note of warning for those who want to know...there is gore, blood included with the battles that they waged.  A Good vs Evil kind of story.

BOOK REVIEW- FALLING FOR EMMA- ( BISTRO LA BOHEME)

Image

Come back to the La Boheme bistro, there are stories still to be told. This one centers around Cyril; a very talented musician who touched people when he sang and played guitar.  He was ganing more and more popularity when a sudden, disastrous accident causes him to lose everything.  Well, everything to him.
Now that he is blind, he has no desire to to write, sing or play music anymore.  He barely makes it through each new day.  Still, he does have a friend or two and they get together at this bistro. That is where he also suddenly meets a mysterious woman who seems oddly attentive to him. Is she just a fan?  Or is it something else?
I liked this story, it was sweet even amidst the very serious situation and grief that Cyril was going through.  He had a whole new life to adjust to and the author wrote well about the problems that he was facing.  The information about Emma and her motives were releashed in a good way; I thought.  A little here and a little there.  There was a bit of a surprise when you find out what is really going on with Emma.  In some ways parts of the story might be viewed as somewhat predictable but I liked how the story was written to get there.  But I'm not telling you too much....you'll have to read that for yourself.
I really like the family/friends type feel of the bistro, and how the stories are linked in that setting, so I will continue to read.
Just as a side note, I really did like the cover picture for the Book also.

I received this ARC book FREE for an honest review.
