eBook: Walk in Beauty
Looking Back: Jessie Callahan is beautiful but broken because of being raised by an alcoholic mother. Luke Bernali is a beautiful Navajo man, that Jessie falls in love with and who begins to help her heal. He sees the Beauty in her. The things don't continue that way because Luke falls into the same alcoholic pit that her mother was in. When she finds out she is pregnant, she leaves because there is no way her child is going to be raised in a drunken house like she was.
Fast Forward about 7 years: Jessie, Luke and his daughter Giselle are on a collision course to meet. Luke is about to meet the daughter he never knew he had, Giselle is about to meet the father she always wanted to meet, and Jesse is going to see the man she hoped never to meet again.
The book was okay, some of it charming even. I know "The Chase" is always a part of the story but I agree with one of the reviews on Amazon; (by book lover) that the constant making up their minds and then abruptly changing it after they had "great sex" was a bit wearing. Yes, she was afraid to trust but c'mon. I did like some of the revelations that she began to get about the effect her mother had on her life and what she finally began to do about it. I liked the references to the Beauty all around, and her inspiration for her paintings, and the Navajo flavor to the story. Giselle was fun to read about as was her the guest appearance of her Aunt Marcia, who was so like her. It did have a sweet ending, kind of predictable but good.
There was Bonus Excerpts for 8 different books at the back of the book .
