I liked this book but if you're going to read it you have to realize it does say that it is Advanced Training for Prophetic Ministry.  So what does that mean?  It's going to be a pretty serious study.  For those of us who like scriptural basis for things, this has plenty.  There were a lot of good nuggets of information along with the deeper information. Some personal experiences are included without taking over and being the main focus.  In Chapter 4 there is a Core Values Assessment Test that is pretty direct and helpful when it comes to locating what things could negatively or even positively impact your prophesying.  Making sure your spiritual lens is clean.

I liked how Bill Johnson was one of his mentors.  He embraced all the different streams of faith with love.  His attitude about that was to "eat the meat and spit out the bones."

There was good information about you may be told by God about you being a prophet but it will often take YEARS to  be recognized as one. King David was a perfect example of that since he was anointed years before as King before he actually became king.
A familiar phrase is, "Greater Levels, Greater devils." However, even though we recognize that , we often forget something.  When God promotes us He also protects us.  That's something we really need to grab a hold of.
He makes good points about the controversy about the Prophets of Doom.  Mentioning that they forget God's heart under the New Covenant.
A great point about this scripture validates the truth that these 5 fold Ministries have not ceased. (Have we all come into unity and maturity yet?)  Ephesians 4 :11-13-
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Last item that was interesting that the gift of prophecy is a "gift."  We might have the gift of prophecy but we are not the gift of prophecy. The prophet himself or herself is a/the gift from Jesus himself.
