Let me be clear..I liked it but not as real high on the chart. It did have plenty of emotions, interesting main characters who have NOT had an easy life. Anthony has not only lived on and by his gambling luck but also on his very real charm. He is also very upbeat, funny and always looking for the positive no matter how desperate the situations are. I did like how he treated Charlotte so well. He was more of a gentleman than the so called gentlemen. He never treated her as worthless because of her upbringing. I have to admit the gambling bothered me but we also got to see some changes that he is trying to bring about in that area. Not an easy thing for him.
In the story we did get a very good feel for how Charlotte has a longing to be loved, respected and to have a respectable family.
See? It did have some good points even though at times I found it a bit hard to stay in the story as things did get kind of odd at times.
