BOOK REVIEW- Cleopatra's Necklace-DEVLIN SECURITY FORCE, Protecting Priceless Treasures (Book 3) A stolen necklace – When DSF boss Thomas Devlin’s old flame is pursued by the same thugs who stole the Queen of the Nile’s priceless necklace from under his company’s nose, he drops everything and jets to Venice to protect her. He’s desperate to recover the necklace from the smuggling ring Centaur and restore his company’s reputation, but he runs into more trouble than he can handle in the arms of the woman he can’t forget.  Impetuous artist Cleo Chandler’s involvement with the forger who copied Cleopatra’s necklace sends her on the run because the thugs who killed him believe she knows the location of the jewelry. When Thomas bursts back into her life promising protection, she knows he’ll safeguard her life, but will this take-charge man crush her love again?
A dangerous quest – From Venice to the U.S., as Thomas and Cleo race against time and the smugglers, they learn that something much greater is at stake than their lives and recovering the precious antiquity. As the peril escalates, so does the risk to their hearts.

I really liked this story.  Good people that you can get interested in.   Thomas and Cleopatra definitely fill that bill all on their own.  Secondary characters were interesting as well.   I really liked his friend Lucas, an unusual but compelling person too.    Good "Plots" because yes, there was more drama and suspense going on with more than just one plot.   More than one even villain too; each with their own agenda.  One of them with a vendetta against Thomas Devlin.  Total destruction is the only thing that will satisfy that enemy.  Cleo was a charming, free spirited, artistic soul who light up the places she inhabited.  She was also smarter than most people (like some of her family) gave her credit for.  Her father a military man,  tried to push and command her into a box of his liking.   That caused her to resent, resist and finally flee his presence.  There was at least 3 years where she lived her life free of his pressure.  The last thing she wanted to see was Thomas coming to her rescue; since he was so like her father when it came to commanding.  She had her fill of demanding men, who didn't want her making her own decisions, thinking they know best.   Add to that her humiliation years ago when it came to Thomas and it just makes it worse.
Do you like twists and turns?  Read this book you'll like the ones that it has.  I also really liked some of the expressions and thoughts that Cleo expressed.   One of my favorites?   Cleo describing the tiny car she was racing as fast as she could from local thugs that were after them.  Thomas told her to weave back and forth on the narrow winding road as fast as she could.  She let him know that was going to be kind of hard because, "I'm driving a roller skate."  She was good with funny sarcasm.   And her thoughts?  When she needed to work herself up to be brave, she thought herself into Cleopatra mode."
Want romance in your story?  I did and it had a pretty good one too. I wasn't disappointed, I enjoyed that part too.

Just as a side note, I had read another book by this author, so when I saw this one offered, I wanted to read it.  The other book was," Ring of Truth".  It was also a DEVLIN SECURITY FORCE story.  I'm going to keep my eyes open for any other books by this author.   Especially for any books with the Devlin Security Force as part of the story.

I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
