UPDATE: Glenn and Buzz have been adopted by a loving family in the U.K. Stray Aid posted an update on their Facebook page indicating that, after an extensive screening process, they found the perfect home for these two senior dogs.
Glenn, a 10-year-old Jack Russell Terrier is completely blind and he relies on his seeing-eye dog companion, a 9-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier named Buzz, to help him get around. But their former owner abandoned the elderly pair of pups in a sea tunnel in Durham, U.K., and now they’re seeking a new home.
According to the Daily Mail, Stray Aid, a rescue group based in North East England, took in Glenn and Buzz after finding them in the tunnel. Shelter worker Sue Bielby told reporters that she thinks the pair may have been abandoned because of their old age.
Now, the shelter is working to find Glenn and Buzz a home together, since the dogs are bonded and rely heavily on each other.
Although Glenn cannot see, the Jack Russel uses Buzz as his eyes and gets his confidence from his larger Pit Bull companion.
Stray Aid says that the pair has to be adopted out together and needs a home where they can live out the rest of their lives in peace and comfort with very little change. The dogs both become distressed when they are separated, so the shelter won’t adopt the dogs out to different families.
We hope a kind person opens their heart and their home to these two sweet older dogs. They deserve a second chance.
