BOOK REVIEW- #6BITE ME IF YOU CAN

  #6
One minute Leigh is walking home in the early hours of the morning, and the next a vampire is sinking his teeth into her neck. Turns out it was a rogue vampire marked for termination, but it does Leigh little good because the damage's already been done. She's become one of them.Lucian Argeneau, hunter of rogue vampires, has been alive for over two thousand years, and there's very little to excite him anymore. Food has become tasteless, sex is ordinary. Then Leigh drops into his life. Suddenly he finds himself craving coffee . . . and imagining the sassy brunette atop the black satin sheets on his nice big bed. It's Lucian's job now to enlighten Leigh on the inner workings of being immortal . . . and tutoring her is igniting a fire in him that hasn't burned in centuries. But until they stop a renegade bloodsucker from destroying the human race, passion will have to wait  AMAZON

I liked this story probably not only because of the MC's but also because it had a good storyline and it was more of the Argeneau family.   Lucian was handsome but shutoff when it came to dealing with the dynamics with family and appeared unfeeling and cold with others.  He just didn't bother to be nice, in the manners department.  He had a job to do and he did it, cooling and efficiently.  After all it was his job to protect the family.  And  as a part of the Council, it was part of his job to protect the other Immortals (vampires) as well.  I liked the explanation of the nanos (science)  being the reason for vampires being what they were.  It was an interesting idea and continued in this story as well. I liked that it didn't go as deep into that part as in other books but you were still able to read it as a stand alone book.  I think it also went well with Lucian's personality at the time.  He didn't want to say much, he didn't want to waste his time and he really didn't want to have to explain anything.  And Lucian wasn't kind to Leigh in the beginning when it came to answering her questions.  In fact, he was often uncaring and unaware of some of the finer points of dealing with her, what she needed.  She was just a nuisance that got dumped on him and he had to get back on the hunt for the person who turned her  Morgan, now that was one cruel dude.  Leah's turning was really rough and Lucian wasn't much help in the beginning.  Leah was a survivor who would survive this just as she had the abusive ex husband who tried to control everything in her life.  When things didn't go well for him or Leah resisted, he used his fists on her.  Leah was just so likabe that she even began to wear Lucian down even when he began to be horrifed that they might be life mates. Leah isn't all that excited either.  Not because she didn't like Lucian but because he represented the loss of her independence that she fought so hard for.  In fact, it scared her how attracted she became to Lucin and she wasn't sure she could take a chance on another man after last wrong choice.
Morgan ended up being harder to catch than anyone every thought he would be.  Evil, yes.  But also slippery and clever, with the help of other unfortunate people that he turned and controlled.  So that added twsts and turns to keep you interested.
Marguerite's dog, Julius added humor to the story and that wasn't the only time that things got funny.
