I liked that the author that she wanted to share Lessons learned by a tenant farmer's daughter.
She was living in poverty as a child but had such a rich foundation from her parents, who she dedicated this book to.  I loved how she said that many of the lessons she shares with us flowed naturally from them.  I was astonished with the advice her mother gave her when she was only in 4th grade.  Yes, it was wisdom but its also not something you hear especially to someone so young.  Wisdom and encouragement.  What a great gift her father gave her the ability and desire to dream.  He also brought in a few of the practical steps to make it real.  I like that she talked about not letting the "Dream Bullies" cause you to quit.  This book was one of wisdom, encouragement, and a fresh way to look at some things.  In other words, it made me think.
Here is just a few nuggets that spoke to me:

  • Your faith is an important part of who you are.  Build it, believe it and bring it wherever you go.
  • From my teaching experience the best leaning enviroment happens when people are having fun.
And this is a good one that got my attention:

"...I got a new vision of what I wanted to do-at the age of 52."

I'm keeping this book in My Personal Library, because its something I want to go back and re-read parts more than once.  It came just when I needed to be..re-charged!

I received a copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
