BOOK REVIIEW- Who Needs Mistletoe? by Laura Chapman *

Charlie London has finally made it. She's the lead singer of a rising-the-charts band. She's casually dating Hollywood's golden boy. And she has a publicist who works very hard to make sure everyone knows all of this. But when her band is bumped from a televised holiday concert--and her boyfriend is photographed canoodling with a co-star--just days before Christmas, Charlie's perfectly crafted world is crumbling apart. She impulsively hops a flight to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, so she can bring her boyfriend in line and get her career back on track. Her plan seems to be working until a winter storm leaves her stranded en route.

Guitarist Flint Randal has been crazy about Charlie from the moment she walked in to audition for their band three years ago. Knowing her strict policy against dating a bandmate, he's kept his feelings in check. Until now. When grounded planes send them on a cross-country road trip--alone--Flint sees his chance to finally prove that her one-and-only has been there all along.

As detours and disasters plague their journey, Charlie and Flint grow closer. Will the magic of the holiday season--and the promise of true love--bring them together at last? Or will the siren call of fame get in the way?  AMAZON LINK

I really wanted to like this story a lot more than I did.  It had some charm but I also feel that just maybe it was for a much younger age group than mine.  It didn't feel all that deep.   Although it was a clean story with no wild sex scenes which was refreshing.
Charlie London is definitely a girl with goals and a list.  She is very career oriented and has sacrificed a lot to try to get to the top.  But there were quite a few times that I felt like she was a brat.  It made it hard for me to like her at times. The author did a good job though of showing some of the reasons for her behaviors.
Flint is the long suffering good guy of the piece.  I liked that he did allow some of his frustration and irritations with Charlie to show from time to time.   A man with a backbone, talent and an INCREDIBLE amount of patience.
The reason for the title of this book does show up in the story and then it made sense.
There is a H.E.A. which makes for a good Christmas story.  Or just a good ending for romance lovers no matter what the season.

I did really like the attractive eBook cover.

BOOK REVIEW- TWWINED SHADOW (The Shadow Series #1) by Candice Bundy

I, Becka Rowan, live in a time of uneasy peace. A fragile truce stands between humans, shifters, and the fae-touched—those who turn inward to their Houses for loyalty and protection and live in isolation from the outside world.
For an ungifted like me, that’s impossible to do.
Born of the fae but not blessed with their powers, I’ve grown up as an outcast within the human world. Humans don’t trust people like me with fae heritage, and the fae don’t bother with the ungifted. I said screw it and embraced college, determined to make my own fate.
Just when I thought I could start a prestigious internship and continue my quest to address interspecies conflict, someone murdered my twin sister, an adept illusionist and heir to our family lineage.
So, I’m going back home to say goodbye. Back to House Rowan. I take a deep breath, knowing after a short few days I’ll return to the city, free again from the melodrama of the House I was raised in.
There’s just one hitch in my plan—Quinn, a fae-touched member of the Enforcer’s Guild assigned to investigate the killing. Quinn doesn’t let the typical fae prejudices against the ungifted prevent him from staying close to me. Uncomfortably close. Besides, he needs my help to figure out what happened to my sister.
How can I refuse?  AMAZON LINK

INTENSE, is one good way to describe this book.
INSANE..and insanely good is another way to describe it.
Awesome World building definitely fits as well.
Complex people in the story, a lot of them with so many rigid rules.
It didn't take me long to become "Team Becka" all the way! Becka went through quite the struggle to find herself.   She had so much disapproval to go through and it wasn't over yet.  But now she refuses to let others take that uniqueness, that freedom away from her.  Becka had learned to be very direct after being in the human world.  She despised all the drama that seemed to be a essential part of the Fae world.
Quinn, Quinn, What are you up to?  Can you be trusted?  One minute I thought, yes and then another moment I wasn't so sure.  He definitely keeps everyone on their toes.  Especially Becka who so WANTS to fully trust him.
The action, mysteries, plots and dangers kept me on the edge of my seat.    The emotions are well done here especially Becka's grief over her twin sister's murder.  But brace yourself that's not the only emotions flowing in this book.
Many questions are answered here but there is also a MAJOR threat revealed that had been hidden for a very long time.  That adventure continues in Book 2, "Poisoned Shadow" and I'm ready to read on!

BOOK REVIEW- Into The Black ( A Scifi Mystery) by Beth Barany *

           4 STARS

This was an interesting book.  It had an out of this world (pun intended) world  that is built.  It's made from scratch and in depth, full setting of this imaginary place.
The main character Janey was also someone who had some pretty good depth and it became easy to become a cheerleader for her success.  She was smart, tough, loving towards her mother, and the reader also gets to see her flaws too.
Orlando Valdez, wow what a complex person he was.  Interesting but he also kept not only Janey confused, he also had me wondering what his deal was.
Speaking of confusing, there were times that I was almost as confused as Janey as to what was going on.  Don't get me wrong, it made the story  even better for me.
I usually like my stories to have some romance in them and this one had two people off balance with each other.  Oh, the attraction was there and some flirting with a promise of maybe more but that was it.
Everything comes to a good conclusion with a peek into the next book in the series.
One question that I didn't feel got answered  was, what was going on with her enhancement?  Still, it was such a well written story, I didn't hold that against the author.
By the way, I loved the cover for this eBook !

BOOK REVIEW- Maneuver (Men of Inked: Southside Book 1) by Chelle Bliss *

This isn't how fairy tales typically begin, but it's where mine starts...

No money, no phone, and abandoned on the streets of Chicago.

With my baby in my arms, I wander into a bar in a shady neighborhood and ask to use their phone.

When my father turns us away and completely disowns me, the bar owner, and total hottie, offers us a place to stay...no strings attached.

I'm leery at first.
Hot alpha guy.

Down on her luck single mother.

I mean, who wouldn't be?

Lucio Gallo isn't like most men, though. He's fiercely protective, loyal, and did I mention he's covered in nothing but muscle?

Above all else, he's everything I need but never knew I wanted.   AMAZON LINK

The Gallos from Chicago are one unique family.  Dysfunctional in so many ways but also so good in a lot of ways too.  They gather Delilah into their group like a long lost relative and her baby, Lulu as well.  I liked the whole family. Their mother was one interesting person all on her own too.
Lucio was a really great M.C. who has a big heart and loves hard.  When he opens up his heart that is.  And Delilah and her daughter  surprise him by walking  right into his heart really quickly.  I enjoyed how this gentle giant was so sweet and loving with both of them.  The interactions between Lucio and Lulu were so sweet and tender.  Even the way he was with Delilah was his way of cherishing her.  That was something she had never encountered ever in her life.
And yes the language will be adult at times.  And Delilah is a hot mess at first as she finds her feet with Lucio's help.  They do get to the point where they have hot sex as well.  I felt like that could have been written a little less of  but it was well written too.
It was interesting to watch Delilah get stronger with a strength she never knew she had. It wasn't just Lucio that helped her find it but also the need to do whatever she had to do to have her daughter come first.  Lucio, Delilah and the Gallo family were all on the same page when it came to loving and protecting the baby.
It all comes together in the end with an Epilogue which I always enjoy.

       3.5 STARS

This book had pretty good main characters with plenty of dangers , clever ideas and emotional ups and downs.
Emmaline or Emmy as she is called never really have a chance for a normal life.  She craved it but is caught the thieving way of life.  Since the age of 14 she was pressured by her father into the life of crime. Although her father viewed it differently.  He saw it more as a noble cause along with the thrill of being so skilled that he had not been caught.  Emmy also had more of her family who were in cahoots with her in the jobs that she pulled.  Since her father's death, it was just Emmy, her brother Luc (who was wounded in the war) and her regal grandmother Camille.  Not to be forgotten is also Sally Hawkins who almost family and has been a huge help in so many ways.  She was a master of disguises that Emmy needed.  She also had her eye on Luc.  You'll have to read to see if that goes anywhere.  Each one of these people added a lot to the story.  That I did enjoy.  Also all the clever ideas that "the team" came up with when it came to sneaking into places to rob.

Alex Harland was an interesting opponent whose emotions seesawed back and forth when it came to Emmy.  And what was that elusive scent he keeps smelling? It was driving him around the bend every time he smelled it.  It reminds him so strongly of the mysterious woman he met years ago. She was the one who wore such a unique perfume. His life moved on but he never forgot her. He was on the side of the law and he began to suspect Emmy of more than just being beautiful and mischievous.
At first I wondered about the name "Nightjar" being the title given the famous thief.   It made more sense when I read later that it was a nocturnal bird and that it blends well with its environment.   Then it made perfect sense.
Everything was well described in the story without being overwhelming or too stuffy. I will also add that there is some sexual scenes in the story.  I also wish that I had liked it more; although it did have it's moments.

BOOK REVIEW- Battle Tested (Part 6 of the Omega Sector: Critical Response series) by Janie Crouch

Battle Tested
Someone WAS always watching her. Everywhere she went, Rosalyn Mellinger had eyes on her. The Watcher followed her everywhere. It seemed hopeless, inescapable especially when she met Steve Drackett on vacation. Another person to be hurt by her stalker. But Rosalyn didn't know Steve was part of Omega Sector there was literally no one better to protect her, if she'd just open up to him. He had years of experience, and while the Watcher preyed upon Rosalyn, Steve would beat him at his own game. But Rosalyn had a secret even Steve couldn't see coming: a baby from their vacation romance. Omega Sector: Critical Response.   AMAZON LINK
  5 STARS ++

Oh man this story pulled me in right from the beginning and never let me go.  Intense every step of the way.  I can't praise this one enough!!
Rosalyn and Steve were both exceptional main characters.  And it didn't take long before I began caring about both of them.  Even when Steve did a few bonehead things because he wasn't sure that he could fully trust Rosalyn.  And when she begin to share what her stalker had been doing?  He found it almost too outrageous to believe.  With very little physical proof, she was thinking he would just be someone else who didn't believe her at all.
The Watcher (as she had dubbed him) was diabolical in his cleverness.   And no matter what she did, he always found her, leaving very little evidence of his tormenting ways.  There was plenty of twists and turns that just kept pulling surprise after surprise out of the hat.  It was edge of the seat reading.  Never knowing what was going to happen next. It left me wondering, how in the world were they going to catch this guy?!
Steve's special unit was compromised of interesting people who added to the story.  Not only skilled "employees" but many good friends as well.
The story comes to a dramatic ending with a H.E.A.  I applaud the author!

BOOK REVIEW- BABY (Linear Tactical Series #9 ) by Janie Crouch *

The book blurb got my attention and drew me in.  Well, so did the name of the author. And I wasn't disappointed.
I liked this book, it was full of surprises! Baby and Quinn couldn't seem to be more mismatched if they tried and yet....
Quinn was trying so hard to start over but she also still had remnants of her old lifestyle of rigid professor.  She was semi-famous for her hair in a bun, buttoned up appearance in her academic circles.   In fact she can hardly remember the last time she had fun.  Now Baby can definitely help her with that and he does.  He draws people to him like bees to honey.  But he's also sincere when it comes to dealing with people.  He's not a player.  He genuinely likes them and has gotten pretty good at reading people.   In fact he often knows what to say because he sees what other people often miss. But don't think that all there is to this young, handsome, discerning, charming, laughing man. Baby has a secret and I like how we find out what it is.
It was amazing that no one caught on to Quinn's "bad luck" being more than just that.  Although maybe I shouldn't focus too much on that for at least two reasons.  First- Quinn was keeping a lot of things to herself because of shame and not being believed before.  Second- the person messing with her was diabolically clever (and a tech genius).
There are plenty of other people in the cast but without overwhelming the reader.  Plenty of action and mysteries going on too.  There is also humor in the story.  Let me point you to Baby's response to a cupcake.  It was a good one and leads to "Cupcake" being Quinn's new nickname.   Yeah, Baby and Cupcake, that did make me smile.  I really liked the romance between the two M.C.'s and the Epilogue was good too.

BOOK REVIEW- Hitman Wedding (Part 4 of the Bad Boy Inc series) by Eve Langlais *

Hitman Wedding
The employees of Bad Boy Inc. are gathering for a celebration. The bride sported the latest in bullet proof corsets. The groom wore a gun. The guests came armed for action. But the cake blew up before they could eat it. As for the honeymoon, it's going to be a mad chase across the globe dodging bullets and bombs to find the culprit who wants them all dead....AMAZON LINK
                          4 STARS
Okay so the story didn't go exactly like I expected.  But it did have a lot of action, twists, betrayals, "romancing" and sex.  It also involved both of the main characters being running for their lives with the big question of who is the Mastermind behind it all and who can they trust?  Can Darren even trust Francesca is a main theme throughout.
Francesca is a whole kettle of surprise but I liked how kick-butt she was and the backstory of how  she grew up.  She was one wild chick, professional, skilled and deadly at times.  I liked her anyway.
I have to admit after reading about Darren in a previous book I was a bit disappointed in how he acted in quite a few spots. I know that he is used to being in charge and doesn't give that up easily.  And with Francesca he is often flying blind.  He is also a man who was in love with Francesca when she dumped him.  He's still not really over her yet either. But he did so much whining and grumbling and stupid stuff that he had me shaking my head.  A little bit of whining would have been all right but after awhile it got old for me.  The grumbling I understood, control freak right? He does finally redeem himself .
On the downside- At the 20th chapter I was ready for the story to finish.  So there is that.
I do have to admit that the wedding didn't happen exact how I was expecting which was a good part just the same.  The story gets a surprising twist or two at the ending.  It also contains a good Epilogue.

The sparks will and do fly in this one.  Mainly coming from a very resentful Bianca.  For the most part Max keeps his calm in situations that would normally rile a whole lot of other people.  I did admire his patience even knowing he has so much on the line.  Although Max has secrets and one particular dangerous one that doesn't come out until later.  He has also learned many things in the School of Hard Knocks.  He never knew until later how much those things would help him in his current setting.
Bianca was fiery, skilled and determined to continue her family's business success.  She had a whole lot to offer with her creative color mixtures.  She also has some great ideas but her father doesn't really see their value and often overrides her ideas.  That is something that Max sees and encourages.  It just made it harder for her to hate him as much as when they started out.  I did get a kick out of how for the longest time even after their marriage she thought of him as "That Man."
There is really good world building when it came to the pottery business and the different ideas to improve it.  The descriptions were good.
There were other good supporting people like Bianca's older sister Catherine, Aunt Frances Bentley, Lawrence (valet and more to Max) and Jennie (young ladies made to Bianca.
Although this story had some good moments, some tenderness, wooing and humor it was also kind of slow at times.
It does have some surprises and revelations towards the end that make things more interesting.

3.5 STARS

I had mixed feelings about this story.  The way it started out kind of left me with a feeling that it just might not be deep enough for me.  Or maybe even for a younger crowd.  However, it does get better much later in the book.  The action and the dangers ramp up making it a more interesting story although it wouldn't be a favorite for me. There is a good flow to the story  especially when it comes to describing the different locales, foods and people.  I never heard of POG before and was glad that the author explained the drink.  It was a mix of papaya, orange and guava.
Ally just "knows" that River is a good guy because she is really good at judging people's character and intent.  Growing up as she had made it a necessary skill.
River after meeting her and not revealing who he is thinks she's too careless and naive.  He's also got a lot of misunderstandings about her and what she needs.  Part of that is the fault of the person employing him giving him only minimal information.  He also underestimates the army that Ally's father has at his command and just how ruthless he is.  But once Ally is endangered once again River comes up with a plan.  You see he has the resources of an "army" himself.
I liked how the story comes to a stunning conclusion with several surprises.
There is also a look into Sutton Smith's story (The Captivating Warrior) because you see he knew Ally's mother years ago.  That could prove interesting because you know there is more to that story.

BOOK REVIEW- Trap 'N' Trace ( Federal K-9 Series Book 2) by Tee O'Fallon

Description

For wealthy socialite Katrina Vandenburg, business meetings and charity galas are all part of her orderly, structured world—one that gets blown to hell after finding two dead bodies in the same day. The police think she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. FBI Special Agent Dayne Andrews thinks otherwise. Dayne and his K-9, Remy, are tracking a cold-blooded killer, and that trail...leads straight to Kat.

Kat and her rescue shelter—the Canine Haven—are the only common denominators between the murders, and Dayne is convinced she’s dead center in the killer’s sights. Protecting her will test every ounce of his steely resolve. She’s the most intriguing woman he’s ever met. And everything he shouldn’t want. Too bad neither of them seem to have gotten the memo.

And they need to focus on catching a killer now more than ever. Because if Dayne and Remy fail in their mission, nothing will stand between Kat and the killer’s deadly blade. AMAZON LINK
                             4.5 STARS

I really liked and enjoyed this story.  The opening chapter starts out with quite the surprise of Kat and the reader.  It goes all in right away. It's also part of how Kat met Angus.
I liked that Kat was the one with the zillions of dollars, and business and charity authority and demands. It made the challenges that they faced different from a lot of books.
Let's talk about Katrina (Kat) Vandenburg first.  She has been born into incredible wealth and huge responsibilities.  While her parents were alive she knew what a loving family was like. Also she had seen some of what a loving marriage looked like too.  You can see after awhile that Kat really has two sets of friends.  Emily who is Kat's personal assistant and one of her best friends, is one of those true friends. It takes her a bit of time to realize  there is really only one set of true friends.  That will keep her busy as she tries to stay alive with the help of F.B.I. (K-9) Agent  Dayne Andrews.

Now we get to Dayne Andrews.  He was great at his job and you can see how different the worlds that they come from are.
Dayne has a lot of preconceived ideas about Kat and part of that comes from the fact that she is outrageously wealthy.   And he would describe himself as having coming up from the streets.
The relationship that Dayne had with his canine partner Remy was a pleasure to watch.  So was the interaction of Remy and the puppy Angus. It added charm, fun and smiles.
The title for this this book was interesting and as the story goes on you get a better idea of why it fits so well.
Over all this book has all the good main characters, emotions, action, mysteries, dangers,  romance and some spicy heat that you could hope for.  Oh yes, and some good adjustments to make for a H.E.A.  which shows in the Epilogue.

This is the story that I have read in this series so far-

PLAYING WITH THE BRIDESMAID: Stephanie Queen-

The opening words of the first chapter surprised me.  This one was a whole lot of fun quite a bit of the time. Yes, there was some sadness because they both really did face challenges.  But Natalie was a hoot and I adored her!   I can't even tell you how many times I smiled as I read this book. Like Max said Natalie is a kick!

Max was such a gentleman which Natalie both liked and despaired of at times.  So many people kept saying he was too old for her but all she saw of him she liked .  Oh and did I mention that she saw him as hot too?  There were a lot of other younger men who would have liked a shot at her but she felt nada for them.  Max also mentioned that although she was too young for him when he looked in her eyes, she also seemed to have an old soul. There is a lot of push together, pull away going on between them.   Because no matter their challenges they had a powerful connection.   There is also a surprise twist when it comes to Max having another, totally unexpected secret.

I'm giving this story 4 Stars on Amazon.  I'm letting you know that I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

AND not only did I like this one but also the sound of the other books (and authors) I went and bought my own personal copy of this whole book.

BOOK REVIEW- Pint-Sized Protector (Part 2 of the Bad Boy Inc. series) by Eve Langlais

Pint-Sized Protector
She might be small, but she can still kick his ass. An assignment to babysit a rich dude isn't Kacy's idea of a fun assignment. Especially since he and his bodyguard are just like all the other boys she knows, thinking she's too tiny to pack a punch. I'll show him. She'll show him that sexy things come in small packages and he won't be able to stop himself from falling for the pint-sized protector. Problem is, who'll protect his heart? When a gunman threatens her life, he wants to send her away, but her Latina pride won't allow herself to be treated like anything less than a pro. Will pride also stand in the way of her happiness?  AMAZON LINK
  5 STARS
After reading my first book in the series called "Killer Daddy", it pulled me in.  That book also showed me a look into this book and I grabbed it with both hands when the chance came.  I was NOT disappointed!
I absolutely loved this one! Kacy is someone that was over the top great!  Tiny? Yes. Skilled?  Absolutely.  Smart? Yes.  People underestimating her because of her size? For sure. Taking any guff off anyone?  Nope.
Marcus was a huge guy who had some skills when it came to his protection duty.  But he also finds himself feeling like he's limping behind when it comes to Kacy's skills.  He resents the heck out of her especially at first. That leads to a whole lot of clashes,
and arguments  between them.  Marcus has been Darren's bodyguard (and friend) for years.  He was also a good main character as well with a pretty good depth to him.  Even if he was a bit narrow minded in the beginning about women as guards and tiny Kacy in particular.
Darren has to be the peacemaker between the two of them more than once.  Reminding them both that he is the client and they WILL find a way to work together.   And they do but it's fun to see how that goes both before and after they do.
Darren is some ways is a mystery probably because he is also the holder of a lot of secrets.
What I did see was interesting and I was glad to see that he gets his own book.  I've already got "Hitman Wedding" lined up to read.
I liked the gadgets that Kacy had available to her.  Not only her gadgets but her ability to get into places that most people couldn't. And yes, some of that was because of her very helpful "size".
The tension, dangers, multiple motives, and surprises were well written and I enjoyed it all.  Of course there was also a hot romance working as well as a welcome Epilogue.

But she learns Matt has secrets that threaten both her heart and her life. Matt is a prodigal trying to come home from the far country, but how much is he willing to give to restore his honor?
No Safe Place is a clean, action-filled, romantic-suspense story that races from the scenic beaches of the Olympic National Park to the beauty of Lake Chelan in Central Washington State, a story of courage, honor, faith, forgiveness, and love.

Book 2 - No True Justice
They forced Gemma Saint into witness protection, not to protect her, but to silence her.
After testifying in a high-profile case, Gemma, a young intern at an influential media outlet, is forced into WITSEC by corrupt DOJ officials hoping to silence her. When Gemma’s testimony at a retrial threatens their elaborate conspiracy to control the upcoming presidential election. But can she endanger this fragile family? Should she run away, sacrificing her life and the course of her beloved country?
Lex has difficult choices, too. But the highly gifted boys, Josh and Caleb, have their own opinion about what should happen, and it is not wise to underestimate four-year-old boys with 200 IQs.
No True Justice is a clean, high-action, romantic-suspense story set among the breathtaking canyons and rivers around Lake Billy Chinook in Eastern Oregon.

Book 3 - No Turning Back
When, Drew West, a young man much like her dead father, offers Beth Sanchez protection, will trusting him bring another massacre, one that takes her life too? How can a young cowboy from Central Oregon protect her from the vengeful leader of a Drug Cartel who wants her dead?
Drew has reasons for wanting to protect Beth, reasons that run deep, all the way to his heart and even deeper yet, to his soul. No one in his charge will ever be hurt again, no matter the cost. But can he convince Beth of that or will she opt for witness protection?
Set near Big Bend National Park and in Central Oregon, near the Deschutes River, No Turning Back is a clean, high-action, romantic-suspense story about love, courage, and the futility of human vengeance.  AMAZON LINK

BOOK 1- No Safe Place 4 STARS *
I had some mixed feelings about this story.  But because of several different things I think it deserves 4 Stars on Amazon.
Both Matt and Randi were good main characters. Matt is dealing with guilt and feeling his choices are unforgivable.  Randi has her strengths and they are shown well. However her weakness is the feelings of rejection which her parents hurt her with.
And the evil assassin Zambada was well written as not just a dumb hired gun either.  Not only evil but clever and relentless.
His boss, Arellano is also known to be cruel and vindictive but he doesn't show up until much later in the book.
The mixed feelings come in for me when it comes to the emotional relationship that was developing between Matt and Randi.  The constant rocking back and forth between them got old for  me.  Matt was sending so many mixed signals.  It was "I want to stay in your life Randi and I will never leave you".  And then "Oh but no I can't because it could get you killed."  While realistic it just felt a bit overdone with all the seesawing back and forth.
Some people might not enjoy the bit of preaching in this book as well.  However with a good amount of action, mystery, plots and the M.C.'s overcoming evil the best they can?  That deserves the higher score from me.  The Epilogue at the end was also a nice touch.
 Book 2 - No True Justice *  4 STARS

There was two good main characters in this story. That would be Gemma and Lex. It doesn't take too long to care what happens to them.   And makes you want to see them win over their enemies.
The twins Josh and Caleb sure add a lot too.  They weren't kidding when they said that the twins were little geniuses.  They weren't shy when it came to announcing their "two hundred.  They even had developed their own "foreign" language that works well for them especially in moments of danger.  They also add some humor too!
There is plenty of intrigue, danger and action in this story.  They are plenty of bad guys but also good guys out there trying to help.    More than once I almost wanted to slap Gemma.  That happened when she wants to argue sometimes loudly in the midst of dangerous moments.  Like car chases, hiding and running.  Every time she did that made me want to groan.
Faith definitely plays a part in this book and you can see their faith in God at work.
The story comes to a good end and includes an Epilogue.

Book 3 - No Turning Back   3.5 STARS
Drew and Beth were good main characters who each were dealing with their own challenges.  Drew had a hot temper especially when faced with someone threatening someone he cared about.  He had natural skills but also relied on them a tad too much.  Something that he will be forced to deal with as they run for their lives. Beth carried survivors guilt to go along with painful memories and the fear that Hector Suarez still hunted for her.
When the story first started I ended up feeling like this story might be too young for me.  Probably because of the opening conversations between Drew and Beth. It sounded a bit juvenile to me.
I got tired of hearing about Beth's INTJ personality and found that a bit hard to follow at times.   I got it after awhile that she was mainly brains, who didn't share a lot of her emotions or affections.  Just began to feel like it was mentioned more times than I liked.
There is plenty of action and danger though along with a strong Christian influence, and a clean romance.   A sweet Epilogue adds to their H.E.A.
On a special note I did enjoy the author's note and found it pretty interesting.

I liked it but...I totally missed the fact that this is Book #1.  And that there are 4 books in the series.  That might explain why there is a cliffhanger of sorts when it comes to Katya and Nikolai's story.  I will say that both of the M.C.'s were interesting and the story was too.  It made for a good start.

BOOK REVIEW- No Turning Back (Witness Protection Book 3) by H.L. Hegley

When a young man much like her dead father offers her protection, will trusting him bring another massacre, one that takes her life too?

Elizabeth (Beth) Sanchez, daughter of the man who formed a militia and drove out the Del Rio Cartel, was the lone survivor after drug lord, Hector Suarez, retaliated, massacring the people in her town. Seven years later, Beth has an MBA, American citizenship, and is ready to chase her dreams. While on a Big Bend hiking excursion, Beth encounters Suarez who is bent on killing the one remaining symbol of resistance to his power, Beth Sanchez. After once being called a coward, Drew West has a mile-high chip on his shoulder and an impressive resume of fighting skills. He’s ready to fight anybody, anywhere, especially if someone needs protection. When Suarez tries to kill Beth in Big Bend, Drew humiliates the drug lord and captures Suarez’s little brother, Ricardo. Hector Suarez places Beth and Drew at the top of his hit list. When a federal prosecutor offers Beth and Drew protection for their testimony against Ricardo, Beth fears a safe house cannot stop another massacre. But Drew offers her a different option, his protection on a horse ranch half a continent away. But if Beth accepts Drew’s offer, there will be no marshal protection and no turning back.

Set near Big Bend National Park and in Central Oregon, near the Deschutes River, No Turning Back is a high-action, romantic-suspense story about love, courage, and the futility of human vengeance.
