BOOK REVIEW- THIS TIME JUSTICE

BOOK REVIEW- This Time Justice-   Hotshot jury consultant Gillian Dohr views the world in shades of gray, believing even the most damning evidence might convict the wrong person. Friends and enemies alike call her The Oracle because she always picks the right jurors to keep her clients from being convicted - until a man she helps set free goes on a killing spree. Three guilt-wracked years later, Gillian is finally ready to leave the solitude of her Wyoming ranch and get back into the game. But fear of making a mistake haunts her. So does an NYPD detective who’s as dangerous to her heart as the killer he’s after.

NYPD Detective Samson Brankowski views the world in black and white, good vs. bad. If you do the crime, you do the time. He considers Gillian a get out of jail free card for criminals. So when fate forces them to work together to prevent a massacre on the subway, it’s the beginning of a love-hate relationship, one with deadly consequences as Gillian uses her people reading skills and Sam his cop instincts to catch a vicious killer stalking Manhattan.   AMAZON  I'm giving it 5 Stars on Amazon.

OK, I didn't see that coming.  Quite the explosive start.  And the tension never really let up.  I was bouncing all over the place trying to figure out who the "Bad Guy" of the piece really was.  One theory after another got shot down.  Man, I love that!!  Intense.  So was both of the main characters, skilled, and  driven in their own ways.  Sam hated what Gillian did for a living and had harshly prejudged her.   In fact, she was HATED by cops and prosecutors alike.  She was a people reader but you don't get to see the reason for her passion until so much later in the book.  Sam and Gillian's interactions were great.  emotions were well displayed as well.  I liked that two of them together.  And that "stinky" (my words, because of his behavior) FBI profiler Regis Van Decker wasn't totally a good guy.  Smirky,  smug, a people user, a power climber and  over-confident?  Oh, yes.  What do I mean by power climber?  Instead of a social climber, it felt like it was all about power with him.
Now Tony was a different type of person, he was Sam's cop partner and a really good side kick he is.  There were also multiple secondary characters, all necessary and needed parts of the story.   I almost forgot to mention that there were moments of humor in this book as well.
The author took me down a path in the story that I wasn't expecting and I'm not sure that I  have read one quite like it before.   MAJOR, MAJOR twist!
For those of you who want to know, there is death, destruction, murders in this story, so probably for adults or YA only. Remember, there is a killer out there and he doesn't care how many people are killed or how many times it has to happen.
By the way, the picture on the cover I didn't understand until I looked back at it after the story and went, "Oh, yeah, now I get it".  I'm sure you will too.  I couldn't put this book down. So, I didn't.

I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
