Truth & Lies Series

Book One: Truth Kills
College freshmen, Phoebe's new lover is sexy, creative and willing to let her act out all her dirty fantasies. Unfortunately, Keith's not telling her the truth about who he really is and the secret past that binds them together. When his Uncle breaks out of prison to search for the "girl who got away," Keith risks losing the best thing in his life by admitting to Phoebe that his Uncle killed her parents.  AMAZON

Ok, now that was different.  I have mixed feeling about this book.  Some parts I liked better than others.  I'll get to that later.   Phoebe has quite the unsettling childhood.  Wow, that was an understatement.  Her happy, stable life disappeared when her family was murdered.  She was lucky to escape with her life because her mother pushes her out of the basement window.  That's a lot to deal with when you were 10 years old.   So she didn't think about it or read about it even years later.  Every time she did try she had a panic attack.   Both Phoebe and Keith each been attracted to each other for some time, each with reasons not to go there until things suddenly changed between them.    I liked both of the MC's and although Keith really kept have quite a few secrets, he really did care for her.  So, how is that going to work out is what I was thinking?  It does with plenty of twists and turns.  Oh.  That other thing I mentioned?  A boat load of sex.  When it began happening, there were many positions, details and some sex toys. Yes, and language too.   So I guess for some, I would say handle with care.  To be honest I wasn't expecting it.

Other notes- There was a surprise when it came to one word that came up once in the beginning of the book.  I never heard of it so I had to look it up.  Her mother had a "rictus" smile plastered on her face as she told Phoebe to run.

Those pearls on the cover of the book aren't just a prop for the book, but are a part of the story.

At the end of the story Phoebe meets someone who can help her in part of her career.  Someone else that the Benefactrix had helped before.  She said that the Benefactrix had more money than she knew what to do with, was generous with it but also likes to connect people together too.  That was a nice touch, also a great lead into other stories. .

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
