Sorry to say that I don't always read the book flap before  I read a book.  BUT.  In this case I did and several parts of it caught my attention.  Darlene mentioned the example of how two different people can respond when they hear the same song.  One is distracted by the cares of this world and another experiences a flood of the grace of God.  Why?   After having said that, it was to get to this point.
"Its all about how and where we place our faith and expectation.  Don't wait until you have things figured out.  Don't wait until you feel spiritual.  Expect Him right now.  Emmanuel.  He is with us."
The part that looped over and over in my mind was the statement about, don't wait to feel spiritual.  To  me that was a nugget of wisdom right there!!   That did it for me.  I couldn't wait to see what else she had to say.
Here are a few other points that just jumped out at me:

  • If you can casually meander through worship, just maybe you haven't entered into true worship at all.
  • When we worship Jesus, we declare His Kingdom and  announce His presence.  I liked the way that this was explained and there were other examples of what happens when we worship Him.
  • Experiencing God is why we were created, its embedded in our DNA.  (I like that)
  • Choose Joy Choose Freedom
  • As I read what Darlene had to say about how God made her see how much He loved her and because of His love she found she could and did trust Him.    It reminded me of a scripture I just "found" that basically says the same thing.

1 John 4:16New Living Translation (NLT) 16 We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love.   Yes, that's only part of the scripture but it is something that I am chewing on in smaller pieces lately.

There is scripture in this book to go along with the teaching/sharing part.  I do see this as a book that is a Keeper.  One that  the ability to take you deeper,  if you take the time to use it to study.  And Darlene also shares some of her own personal walk in it along with some really good quotes from other people.

I received a copy of this book via Bethany House in exchange for an honest review.
