After taking one look at Rocky, this adorable Chihuahuapuppy waiting for his loving forever home we might have to change it from adoption to awwwwwww-doption.
Rocky is a teeny-tiny pup who is winning hearts worldwide not only for being oh-so-cute, but for being an inspiration. At just three-months old, Rocky (along with his siblings and mother) was brought into the Helen Woodward Animal Center in Rancho Sante Fe, California. According to The Associated Press, poor little Rocky (who was as small as three-quarters of a pound at one point), "was born with a hole in his skull, a heart murmur and serious intestinal complications." Among his other conditions, the staff at the Helen Woodward Animal Center would also discover that Rocky was deaf.
But as his perfectly apropos name would suggest, Rocky is a fighter and an underdog bound for a happy ending. The thriving puppy is gaining weight and is gaining worldwide attention for his adorable YouTube videos.
Jessica Gercke, the PR manager for the Helen Woodward Animal Center tells Pet360, "We have really high hopes for him that he's going to have a good happy normal life." Rocky's newfound Internet fame has garnered plenty of interest, and Gercke tells us that some applications have already come in to adopt him. "We'll be looking for someone to meet with him and talk with them about any special needs he may have," she explains. (Since Rocky is deaf, he'll have to learn hand commands from his new owner.)
Gercke says that Rocky "loves people so much" and that he's a "very lovely, sweet little puppy." She notes that Rocky, like most Chihuahuas, gets very connected to their people, especially the ones who adopt them. So whoever is lucky enough to have Rocky in their home should expect a lot of sweet cuddles.
She adds that if anyone is looking to bring a pet like Rocky into their home over the holiday season, "We encourage people to adopt from their local rescue."
