BOOK REVIEW- Beachcomber Santa- a Beachcomber Investigations Novella
Book 2 Dane finds the perfect excuse to celebrate the holiday season with Shana when Jim the butcher hires Beachcomber Investigations to find the Missing grocery store bell-ringing Santa--Rusty Gates. The local cops may think Rusty took off with the money he collected for the church to give the needy, but his family wants to keep him out of jail. Dane and Shana need to find him--and the money before the church Christmas party in three days.
Meanwhile Dane wants more than a kiss under the mistletoe for Christmas from Shana, but when he realizes she's homesick for Australia, will he let playing Santa at the church party go to his heart and give Shana her wish? AMAZON I'm giving it 4 stars as soon as Amazon is open to reviews.
I was looking forward to more of Dane and Shana's adventures, so when it was offered, I grabbed it right up. It was even better when I realized the time sequence was just right. I had already read the book that included their last mission and was mentioned in the beginning of this book. Or to put it correctly, Investigation. Dane is a big bad legend, tough and smart. But he doesn't show the reason for being stand-offish with Shana. He knows what the real world is like and has suffered so many losses that he doesn't want to go there again. Problem is, Shana gets under his skin way more than he can handle.
So he advances, retreats, and is hot and cold with her. She does the same because although she's attracted to him, not only does she see no future in it but its dangerous to her heart.
The writer still knows how to make me smile. Some of the phrases are so funny (to me) , but also easily understandable and almost easy to see. It gets the point across. Like: "Dane could imagine the kid's tail waging he was so excited." See, what I mean? There are plenty of similar descriptions without being too many or what I would consider, too cheesy. I know, I know. Everyone has their own idea of what cheesy is but this is all about my opinion here, so there it is.
Even though it was a Novella which of course means less pages to read, it was still full of action and tension. I also liked that I got to revisit some of the other people in the story. It was like spending time with some old friends. Don't worry though, if this is a first time read for you, I think it will still be able to stand all on its own.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
