BOOK REVIEW- STONE DEVIL DUKE by K.J.Jackson

The Hold Your Breath series begins.
A thousand reasons to hold your breath, and one to let it go.
Historical romance with strong women, undeniable men, and hold your breath adventure

London, 1819
Marked for death, Lady Augustine Christopherson finds herself scouring the slums of London in a desperate search to find the men who killed her father, and are determined to dispose of her. To protect her family, to protect herself, she is determined to find the men before they find her.

The last thing she wanted was an entanglement with a duke that threatens her very survival…

Hardened long ago, the last thing the Duke of Dunway wanted was an entanglement with a chit of the ton. But in the flash of a pistol, his fate is altered as he finds himself honor-bound to protect Lady Augustine from, of all things, herself.  AMAZON 5 stars

Wow, what a great story.  I loved it all. This book had depth to it.
Devin the duke liked everything simple but does that ever get tossed on its ear when he encounters Aggie. The opening chapter starts out with a bang and really gets things moving.  And the action and danger just keep going.
Devin was a surprise too.He even surprised himself that he quickly became intrigued with Aggie and also how very protective he became.  Now that was a role that he never saw coming.   He was jaded and easily bored with the ton but Aggie was definitely not like any other woman that he had ever encountered.
Aggie was such a great character.  She was bold, meeting danger head-on.  Not because she wanted to but because she had to.  She was over her head but she had developed some skills when it came to going into dangerous places. She really just wanted to live quietly and safely.  She was basically all alone in the mission to protect her family but also seek justice.  I really liked both main characters and admit that there was more than once that their interactions caused me to smile.
I would also like to say that this book provided some surprises that I wasn't expecting and I liked those twists.
I really like how this series of books was called A Hold Your Breath Novel.  What a creative and also accurate description of of at least this book in the series.  Action, danger and romance all designed to make you hold your breathe for sure.  It truly kept me involved in their story and I enjoyed every minute of it.  The ending chapters were great!
