BOOK REVIEW- BEACHCOMBER DANGER (Book #8) by Stephanie Queen

Beachcomber Danger: Beachcomber Investigations Book 8 - a Romantic Detective Series by [Queen, Stephanie]
The trouble with being stupid-in-love is that it makes you stupid. And you have your whole world to lose…

Dane Blaise was once a special ops legend, so he'd been in danger before.
But not like this. This time it counted for all the marbles.

Shana was not going to let Dane take on this assignment without her, though she knew he wanted to. The stakes were off-the-charts high. This was about saving the President. And there was no way she would let him shield her from the dangerous consequences.

The only problem was, when someone was out to assassinate the President of the United States, things got complicated. They had a way of spiraling out of a man's control until legendary status meant shit.

And in the end, there was nothing left but you fighting for the life of the one you loved most...

Wow, love, love, loved it!   I just finished reading it and still feel the same.  This one was intense; maybe the most intense of all of them so far.  I think they just keep getting better and better.

I have read quite a few of the stories in the series but I missed a couple so I was surprise about the deeper relationship between Dane and Shana.  But I enjoyed that too.  They both were super smart, talented and lethal when they needed to be.  But it was nice to hear from each of their P.O.V.'s that they were just a bit off balance because of this new element in their relationship.    They had to stay sharp in order not to get killed.

This was "on the edge of my seat" reading for me.  Plenty of action and surprises.  And so many government agencies getting in the way.  All their secrecy and paranoia was actually making it more dangerous.  They treated  Dane and Shana to only a few facts and got in the way all the time.  It was on a need to know basis and they felt like Dane and Shana didn't need to know.  Dummies, they tried to tie the hands of the very people they needed.  But not to worry, Dane has friends and resources of his own and he's going to use them to find out what the agencies AREN'T telling him.

It was good to see Cap and some of the other friends showing up in this book.  I believe it would see be easy to read this book without having read any of the others.

By the way, what a great eBook cover.
