WE MUST KNOW WHAT IS OURS.
Psalms 47:5: "God is gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet" [KJV].
As Jesus is going up into heaven there was a proclamation in the spirit realm, a militant victory in the resurrection. But it is what comes right before this that I want to speak on in verses 3 and 4.
Psalms 47:3-4: "He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet. 4) He shall choose our inheritance for us, the glory of Jacob whom He loves. Selah" [KJV].
It’s hard to go and cease and recover what you don’t know belongs to you. The church has had a problem because we haven’t had a Kingdom revelation. So, most of us are talking about recovering losses in our 401(k)s in a bad economy. God is playing a much bigger game. He’s not trying to recover some economic losses you had in your retirement plans through some bad decisions on Wall Street. In other words if you’re going to recover all, you have to own what was taken before it was stolen.
See when Ziklag happened for David (1 Samuel 30), and David came back he knew what the inventory was when he had left. He knew that he was missing his family and his goods and all his team knew. However, the problem with the church is we’ve been stolen from and deceived into thinking that it wasn’t ours in the first place.
The devil has taken the world with him and all the church is looking for is a handful of souls on the way out. But the nations are supposed to be under our feet. So we read these verses and we say, well that’s for Jewish people, that’s a Psalms thing. But the blessings of Abraham were to touch every nation. Israel was to be the instrumentality of modeling all nations but Israel only had a moment of glory, from David to Solomon; that was it. It was when you saw a brief glimmer of what God wanted Israel to be; a people to whom the nations come, as did the Queen of Sheba. You have a moment when the nations started to come to see what it was like to have a God who is in agreement with a nation and the nation submitting to that God.
So, Tribe. Maybe THIS is our hour to make note of what we have been given as Christ followers, and as Americans by the Founding Fathers. Go back and retrace our steps - what were we given? Who are we called to be?
When we know what we have lost, we will know what to re-gain!
