**^ BOOK REVIEW- Plain Jane and the Hitman (Plain Jane Series Book 1) by [Tmonique Stephens

A LOVE STORY WITH A BODY COUNT

Trained by the best in the business, Emmet Streeter is nobody's babysitter, until his mentor's secret daughter needs a bodyguard. She's everything he doesn't want: mouthy, obstinate, temperamental, and untouchable. So why can't he keep his hands off her?
The unwanted daughter of a hitman, Bailey Monroe has kept a low profile until Emmet barges into her life. He's a killer sent to protect her from one of their own. A carbon copy of the father she hates, Bailey shouldn't trust him, shouldn't sleep with him, and definitely shouldn't fall for his cold eyes, hard face, and deadly aim.
In order to save herself, Bailey must follow Emmet into the jaws of hell to save a father who never loved her from a madman determined on killing them all.
***Heat level 4. Violence.

5 STARS

I found myself surprised by how much I liked this book.   But then the main characters (Jane, Emmett, and Hank) were complex people who were written with great depth.  It also had plenty of action, emotions, and betrayals.  Yes, there is some sexual heat and also the violence that is mentioned in the Book Information.  Still, it's the people and the "romance" that kept me reading.  How was everything going to turn out?

Jane has to be one of my favorite kind of main characters.  She was sassy, smart, tough, but  also loyal, caring, and somewhat unpredictable in her approach.  Oh, and some funny times as well with that sassy mouth.

Emmett had quite the past, which I won't reveal here. Let the reader discover it like I did. It was quite interesting as was the man himself.

Hank, now there was a hard to figure out man when you put aside his murderous career.   But he added so much to the story, being unpredictable in his actions and reasoning too.

A dramatic series of actions towards the end following through on the intensity of the whole story.  I liked how it ended.

There was also a quick look into two other books by this author.   "Plain Jane & the Billionaire" and "Plain Jane & the Bad Boy".  Both of those looked interesting to me too.
