* BOOK REVIEW- Dragon(e) Baby Gone (Reports from the Department of Intangible Assets Book 1) by Robert Gainey

General Fiction (Adult) , Sci Fi & Fantasy

Description

"Dragon is hard to overcome, yet one shall try."

 – Nowe Ateny, Polish Encyclopedia, 1745

Diane Morris is part of the thin line separating a happy, mundane world from all of the horrors of the anomalous. Her federal agency is underfunded, understaffed, and misunderstood, and she'd rather transfer to the boring safety of Logistics than remain a field agent. When a troupe of international thieves make off with a pair of dragon eggs, Diane has no choice but to ally with a demon against the forces looking to leave her city a smoldering crater. Facing down rogue wizards, fiery elementals, and crazed gunmen, it's a race against time to get the precious cargo back before the dragon wakes up and unleashes hell.   AMAZON LINK

5 STARS

This book had a messy start. Well, Diane was caught right in the middle of a messy situation to be more accurate. To say that she has barely any backup would be understating things.  She does bring humor in at times when it comes to her thoughts.  Sarcastic humor most of the time.  That brought a smile to my face more than once. I liked her a whole lot.  It was kind of funny too that she sort of broke some of the rules that the agency ran on but it so worked for her.  In the past she always got the job done and her unorthodox ways are going to be a big help now.

I'd say this story was something a bit different. The writing was well done with imaginative descriptions of "creatures" and their "quirks". What a wild ride this turned out to be.  Even with allies who you never really knew if they were allies or not.  There were also some grisly moments too so I hope you have a strong stomach for that part.

Jericho was a surprise.  But he was also one surprise among many.  With the biggest surprise of all waiting towards the end.

After reading all that excitement in the book, I'm wrung out and need to go take a rest.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
