A pretty good story. Lisette was the interesting widow, who was introduced in another one of the other books, "The Cowboy and the Princess". I saw a preview at the end of that book and wanted to read more. She was interesting then and even more so as her story grew in this book. She just keeps getting hit with tough news. and you get to watch how she goes from being a people pleaser at all costs to finding out what she wants and standing up for it. Of course that handsome cowboy, Rafferty Jones helps her quite a bit. He doesn't tell her what to do like most people do but instead gently gets her to go with her gut instincts and desires. His introduction into the story is sudden and unexpected. So is the reason that he is in town. His story is interesting in what he lacked growing up and the kind of man he became because of it. Lisette had a good upbringing with lots of love, its just that her marriage fell apart long before her husband died in the military. Her little boy, as charming as he is has developed a problem that she just can't run away from. Its one of the things she has to make a decision about and then stand her ground when she makes it. A great watching a full grown woman growing up story. The friendship romance between Lissy and Rafferty was sweet to watch. The only downside was that it dragged at times as they fought their attraction and tried to reason with themselves that it wasn't going to work.
Really good secondary people as well, with secrets all their own.
