BOOK REVIEW- DEATH BEFORE DECAF

BOOK REVIEW- DEATH BEFORE DECAF- After her music career crashes and burns spectacularly, Juliet Langley is forced to turn to the only other business she knows: food service. Unfortunately, bad luck strikes yet again when her two-timing fiancé robs her blind and runs off with her best waitress. Flushing what's left of her beloved café down the toilet with her failed engagement, Juliet packs up and moves back to her college stomping grounds in Nashville to manage an old friend's coffeehouse. At first glance, it seems as though nothing's changed at Java Jive. What could possibly go wrong? Only that the place is hemorrhaging money, the staff is in open revolt, and Juliet finds one unlucky employee dead in the dumpster out back before her first day is even over.  The corpse just so happens to belong to the cook who'd locked horns with Juliet over the finer points of the health code. Unimpressed with her management style, the other disgruntled employees are only too eager to spill the beans about her fiery temper to the detective on the case. Add to the mix a hunky stranger who's asking way too many questions, and suddenly Juliet finds herself in some very hot water. If she can't simmer down and sleuth her way to the real killer, she's going to get burned.  Amazon

The "Redheaded She-Devil part of  Juliet's personality made me smile.  Another fire-cracker personality is Gertie.  She's the family member that helped raise Pete, Juliet's friend and owner of the cafe.   She has a heart of Gold with a dirty mouth at times.  She actually said a few funny things; dirty but funny.
And the funeral that Juliet went to?  Now, generally its not nice to say but it was a hoot.  Not your typical one by any means but I have to say it made me laugh out loud!!
I liked Juliet so much that I think I enjoyed her and her interactions with people the most.
Sure there were plenty of twists and turns to the story, something else that I really enjoy too.  But I also think Juliet would make a great, best friend!  Pete was a really good friend and he worked well with Juliet; her often over the top responses were something he handled really well.  They had a cute relationship/friendship.  His girlfriend hated ever minute of their closeness.  Seth was a person to really watch out for, he was a bundle of handsomeness mixed with lies, secrets and surprises.  There were several other interesting secondary people in the story and a major twist in the end of exactly who the Mastermind of evil was.
By the way I liked the colorful, eye catching cover.
I received an ARC via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
