I liked this book it held many of the elements that the book cover mentions and much more. The MacLaren family is a large, tight knit family that you get to see as they journey to and land on American soil. They work together as a clan, with the older brothers round tabling to make decisions for their families. On the journey over, counting the husbands, wives and children there were 20 of them. Colin was one of those children. The romance and the waiting between Colin and Sarah was bitter sweet in the beginning because of Sara's father's hatred for anything MacLaren. He refused to forget a feud, while the MacLaren's laid it aside for a new life in a new land. Her father was a bitter, hard man always looking out for himself. There was plenty of interesting, lively secondary people in this story. Not only because of such a large family but also because of friends and people they meet along the way. There was also many adventures that the family goes through, starting with Colin's search for Sarah. What will he find if he finds her? Five years is a long time. Like the book information says, there are outlaws out there but one in particular is more dangerous all of them, clever, greedy and ruthless. Yes, there is plenty of action in this one with a family you just can't help but love.
