BOOK REVIEW- STRAIGHT FROM THE HIP

BOOK REVIEW- STRAIGHT FROM THE HIP-Izzy has always been the fearless Titan sister. But when an oil rig blows up, leaving her barely able to see, her sisters find themselves as concerned by her emotional withdrawal as by the possibility that the explosion was no accident. Are the mind games their long-lost brother Garth has been playing turning physical? Or is someone else out to get them?
When her sisters enroll her in a survivor training camp, Izzy is not happy. Nick, her instructor, is determined that she won't be left in the dark. In more ways than one. But if he tells her the terrible truth behind why he's helping her, he'll never see her again. Unless they're both willing to take the biggest risk of all.  AMAZON I'm giving it 5 STARS

This is the first non-Fool's Gold story by Susan Mallery that I have read.   Loved it!  Loved Izzy even when she's wrong, she's got 'tude plus.  She was going to need it.
Some of the other people in the story were enjoyable too.  The one that I got to see the most was Nick's assistant Aaron.  The flashy, goodhearted but also at times  tough gay man of the story.   He helped hold things together at the Ranch.  Garth the half brother had quite the game of vengeance going.  And Jed, the father?  The more you read about him, the easier it is to hate him.  He'd sell anyone down the river, just to safeguard his fortune.  Daughters included.  Speaking of daughters, Izzy's sister's have their own story I'm sure but they have more of supporting role in this book.  I didn't really feel like I got to know them all that well.  Their own stories are in other books I'm guessing.
The clashes between Izzy and Nick  were interesting and at times verbally over the top.  Izzy had some good comebacks when it came to verbal fencing, with Nick and whoever else got into her area.   The story had some twists and turns and betrayals.  Oh, and romance and some sex.
