It was quite the volatile first meeting between Catherine and John Stewart, the earl.   I loved how Catherine thought that he was such a handsome man but ruined it by opening his arrogant mouth.  Yes, the sparks definitely flew between them and then those sparks began to change.  Almost against her will Catherine begins to be pulled into her attraction for John.  Because after awhile he began to actively seduce her.
Catherine only seems like a meek and mild woman.  She's got more backbone and spunk than anyone meeting her expected.
What a gloomy place that castle was in the beginning.  Gloomy and unwelcoming at first look. Barely a hint of warmth or humor to be found in it.
There were several plots at work in this book.  John had someone he is working to root out and Catherine has several people after her.  Each of those things were interesting to me. The one thing I found myself not that interested in was Catherine's efforts regarding opening a school or two.  So I found that part kind of dragged the story for me.   So I found that I had mixed feelings about this book.
There several clever twists towards the end of the book though that do make up for a lot of earlier slowness. Plus it also had quite a bit of action involved and one surprise twist added a lot of emotion.
This has a H.E.A. for the main characters but the story isn't totally concluded.  There is still more story when it comes to the other two sisters, their mother and The Treasure.

I just have to  mention how much I enjoyed the  striking looking cover for this eBook.
