I liked the main characters a lot. Silver has had to be one tough, strong woman from a very early age. She made some pretty tough choices at 18 years old when it came to Drew and her pregnancy. Later she made a pretty accurate statement that he signed the papers to give up his parental rights and never really looked back. He went to college and just moved on in his life.
Drew was a good guy though and he had made a success financially of his life. He just never really got over Silver and he's just coming to terms with that. But his mother Irene, what a cold kettle of fish she is. She has a mold for her son and she is ruthless in trying to force him into it. Drew's aunt isn't exactly a warm fuzzy woman either but at least she might be a tiny step up from Irene.
There are plenty of old regulars in the book, for those who have read some of the series and they still add a lot to the community feel of the story.
There are some twists and surprises which I liked. And I really wasn't expecting.
There was also a not quite romance but a more casual fling that has be going on between Wynn and Jasper. Well, until they had a major blowup but it doesn't complete the story to see if they every reconcile or totally move on. I would like to see what the future holds for both of them. Whether together or with someone else.
