BOOK REVIEW- COWBOY BODYGUARD (Gold Country Cowboys #3) by Dana Mentink

She must protect a baby…

With her secret husband’s help

In this Gold Country Cowboys novel, Jack Thorn gets a surprise call from the woman he married in secret years ago. Shannon Livingston needs his protection for herself and the baby she’s hiding from a biker gang targeting the mother. Now Jack must help Shannon, even if shielding her means pretending to be a true husband to the only woman he’s ever loved…AMAZON  4 STARS

I really enjoyed this story and the Thorn family.  They lived the true meaning of having each others backs.  And they were quite skilled in different areas of surviving on the land.  Cowboys, remember?
There is plenty of danger and double crossing going on when it comes to Dina and her baby Annabell. They are the innocents in all of this but there are powerful, dangerous people out to get them.  There is more than one power play at work but also another cunning person working against them. And they just won't stop until they get a hold of Dina and her baby.  And IF they do, their life expectancy isn't looking to good.
I had my suspicions on who the extra villain was but they didn't form until later and it was who I thought.  BUT, that didn't take away from how the story about that unfolded.
The two main characters were locked into a battle of their own and I understood Shannon's insecurities that were working against her and her marriage.  Jack just kept proving what a great guy he was, warts and all. Jack was someone you could count on no matter what.  Even though Shannon had hurt him so badly, he was still there for her. But she just couldn't seem to take that few small steps to meet him partway.  She had some things to work out.
I liked how things worked out in the end and that Shannon began to realize that her skill and training was so needed but that she wasn't working alone.  God was a part of the outcome and that was woven so beautifully at different times without being heavy handed.
I think I would enjoy reading more about this family is some of the other books in this series.
