BOOK REVIEW- ON LONE STAR TRAIL

If there's one thing Gillian Hodge never wants to see again, it's a man on a motorcycle. Her last encounter with one left her right hand crushed, ending her promising career as a concert pianist. But as she heads to Rainbow's End Resort, a sudden thunderstorm causes a motorcycle to crash in front of her.
When TJ Benjamin's wife died, he lost more than his best friend; he lost his faith. He's spent the past year wandering the country on a motorcycle, trying not to think about his future. When he finds himself stranded with a busted bike and a reluctant rescuer, he has to wonder about God's sense of humor.
Can this woman without a future and this man running from his past find romance in the present? Or are they too tied to the way life used to be?  Amazon  3 STARS

T.J. Benjamin was quite the surprise. And although T.J. and Gillian had lead such different lives, they each had suffered life changing losses.  Something else that they had in common was in trying to figure where to go from where they were and how to handle their separate grief's.   What was going to be their new direction?   Gillian's friend Kate was someone who had her back, she was her second family and had been for years.  Kate and her grandmother both, were the ones who had brought fun and normalcy into her childhood.  And I also suspect that they were the ones to introduce her to Jesus, since her life as a concert pianist left little time for anything else at home.  Her whole life had been about music and the piano.  The town of Dupree drew both TJ and Gillian in.  There was an interesting cast of secondary people in the story.  The town also benefited quite a bit from the two of them as they begin to be more and more involved with the people and their needs.  Both M.C.'s had much to give, much more than they realized.  T.J. struggles with his walk of faith and in his trust in God because of his loss and has turned his back on God.
That part of the story was understandable and realistic to me.  There was a fair amount of time spent in the book with both TJ and Gillian looking backwards in what used to be.  Especially TJ, who was stuck and just didn't feel that any other woman would ever be allowed to get too close to him again.   He didn't think he would get any second chances and that he was a one woman man.   It felt like too much time was spent there but to be honest that is something that people often do.

I was given a copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
