BOOK REVIEW- SAVING MY ASSASSIN

Strong women who stand up for justice in the face of deadly opposition have been  featured recently in the international media--from the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner boldly standing up for the educational rights of Pakistani girls, to an Iranian professor whose secret book club defied the oppression of a brutal regime.
Virginia Prodan is to be counted among these women. Denouncing one of the most powerful and brutal communist dictators of the time, Virginia dared to defend Christians in communist Romania while fearlessly declaring Christ--even to the assassin who was ordered to kill her.
Virginia's true story of faith, obedience, and courage can still be witnessed today as she continues to defend, in court, those who have been discriminated against  for their Christian faith--only now in her adopted country of the United States!
Saving My Assassin: One Woman's Stand against an Evil Empire is the unbelievable, true story of a living heroine of the faith.   LINK

What an unusual story, I really liked it.  What a painful childhood Virginia had.  Hidden, secluded, unwanted and mainly unloved.  It also made me think of other children who have lived that and even might be living it right now.  But I'm not going to be sidetracked here, this is Virginia's story.  Its also amazing how a meeting with a certain client got her full attention.  This man was in trouble but had such peace and happiness, it puzzled her.  So began her journey... And what a journey it was.
This story didn't go into really gory details but just enough for the reader to get the feel of the terror, intimidation and fear that tried to rule.
There was an Epilogue to the book and also a small section written by her "assassin".  Wow, both of those things added so much to the book.
There is also an unexpected Q&A Interview with the author Virginia Prodan, which I enjoyed.
This book is also a way to see how much we take for granted our freedoms in the United States.
Even some of us that look at how bold we are as Christians here in the U.S.A. will get out eyes opened when it comes to boldness, courage and total reliance on God.  Love, the Love of God was poured out through Virginia in some pretty tough situations. Are we so sure that we would do so well, in her place?  Inspiring!  She wasn't lifting herself up saying, how great she was but was totally honest on how scary it was.  And that God showed himself strong on her and her family's behalf.

I received a copy of this book via Tyndale in exchange for an honest review.
