BOOK REVIEW- THE RESCUER/ #6 in the O'Malley Series

Stephen O'Malley is a paramedic who has been rescuing people all his life. His friend Meghan is in trouble: Stolen jewels are turning up in interesting places, and she's in the middle of it. Stephen is about to run into a night he will never forget—a kidnapping, a tornado, and a race to rescue the woman he loves.
Introducing the O'Malleys, an inspirational group of seven, all abandoned or orphaned as teens, who have made the choice to become a loyal and committed family. They have chosen their own surname, O'Malley, and have stood by each other through moments of joy and heartache. Their stories are told in CBA best-selling, inspirational romantic suspense novels that rock your heart and restore strength and hope to your spirit.   AMAZON  4 Star

A good clean story of love, loss, struggles, trying to find faith and a close family.  Stephen is burned out from his paramedic job and the loss of his sister Jennifer.  The others in his family are hurting from the loss too but they have the knowledge of their relationship with Jesus to help them through.   Stephen doesn't have that and it worries the rest of his family.   They know that he's going to run and they plan on letting him but not too long.  They want to pull him back into the arms of his family before things get too distant.  Meghan is a solid person and friend and has been that for many years.  Something big happens to Meghan but she still is unshaken in her friendship with Jesus.  It does cause Stephen to wonder but he just has so many unanswered questions when it comes to faith and very little trust to give people let alone an unseen God. He's the last one in his family, the holdout when it comes to believing in God.  He's coming to a crossroads though.   His feelings for Meghan have deepened but although she's had a crush on him for years,  she's not going to be torn between choosing him or Jesus.  She already made her choice and can see nothing but heartache if she tries  to go beyond friendship with Stephen as things are.
The part of the story about the stolen jewels was well done and added mysteries and more drama to the story.

BOOK REVIEW- EXIT STRATEGY

THE WIDOW'S PROTECTOR
Lark Porter thinks she'll find answers about her husband's death when she returns to their former home, but someone doesn't like the questions she's asking. She's quickly taken captive, and all that stands between her and certain death is a mysterious stranger telling her to trust him if she wants to get out alive. Hostage Rescue and Extraction Team member Cyrus Mitchell marvels at Lark's strength and determination to survive. The closer they get to freedom, the more dangerous the situation becomes. Once free, though, it takes all the skills and training Cyrus has to outmaneuver the deadly killers on their trail.
Mission: Rescue—No job is too dangerous for these fearless heroes  AMAZON   4 STARS

A Dramatic Start and the tension keeps right on going.  Its intense and amps up throughout the story.  Lark and Cyrus are both interesting people who have a great deal of integrity. Lark had her faith in God to help her continue on when things looked bleak.  Cyrus was getting closer to that point, and as the story goes on he grows in it more.   The story kept me interested all the way through.  I was surprised when I looked down and saw that I was only few chapters away from the ending.  Other team members were introduced and pulled together to try to protect Lark and pull down one crazy cult leader.  That leader, Elijah had some really sick plans and was quite the power hungry control freak.  You might want to watch for several of the suprises  that are coming towards the end of the book.

By the way, I really liked  the author's sweet dedication at the beginning of the book.
There is an excerpt to the book, "Backfire", at the end of the book.  It sounds like it might be good too.

6 Reasons Why You Should Develop Your Prophetic Gift

Develop Your Prophetic Gift
LINK
Awonderful thing about prophecy is that at its basic level, a little child or a new Christian can hear from God and convey what He is saying. [1]
However, for those of us who desire to grow in the gift of prophecy—especially if God calls us to prophetic ministry as a primary focus—there are some good reasons as to why we should invest in the growth of our prophetic gift.

Why Develop Your Prophetic Gift?

1. God Requires Us to Steward our Gifts

‘Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you. Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress.’ (1 Tim 4:14-15)

Growing in the spiritual gifts God has given to us is not just a good idea—it is something required of us.
With the gift, comes a responsibility.
And just as Paul exhorts Timothy to be diligent in paying attention to and progressing in the gift and calling on his life, so should we be intentional about stewarding our own gifts and calling.

2. In Prophecy, we Partner with the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the source of prophetic revelation. However He requires ourpartnership in order to share those insights with others.
It is an amazing thing that God entrusts His gifts and abilities to human vessels.
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. (1 Peter 4:10)
Whilst the gift is from God, we play our role in administering it.
By growing in our side of the partnership, we can reflect our Father’s heart, His ways and His intent in our operation of prophecy, with increasing accuracy.

3. Attributes that are Vital to Prophetic Ministry are Developed Through our Choice

‘In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use. Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.’ (2 Tim 2:20-21)
Some attributes that we need to be ‘prepared’ in for prophetic ministry include:
  • Godly character, so we can honour Jesus in the use of our gift with integrity
  • Wisdom, so that we know how to operate in the gift in such a manner that it benefits people as God intended
  • Intimacy with God so that our gift is anointed by His Presence—and so that we hear God’s voice clearly

4. More People Will be Encouraged and Drawn to Jesus Through our Gift

As we develop and grow in our gift and character, God can entrust more prophetic insights and revelation to us—and more ministry to people.
As a result, we have more opportunities to encourage others through our gift and the church will be built up:
‘But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort… the one who prophesies edifies the church.’  (1 Cor 14:3, 4b)

5. There are Practical Skills that can Help us in the Use of Prophecy

Our gift of prophecy will benefit by growth in the following areas:
  • Developing Scripture knowledge, so that we can weigh up revelation against the Bible and understand the basics of Biblical symbolism when moving in prophetic pictures, visions and dreams.
  • Any practical skills that relate to the use of our gift (this varies according to the arena He calls us to, for example, ministering at an altar in prophecy, prophetic song, writing and painting require different styles of communicating and skills).
  • The art of communicating so that we share what is on God’s heart with clarity and in a manner that reflects Him.

6. There is More! Our Prophetic Gift will Grow When we Invest Time into Developing it

A spiritual gift does not suddenly appear in our lives or ministries fully developed. There is always a process in which God trains and prepares us to grow in the use of that gift.
It is our responsibility to cooperate with this process, and be good stewards of the gifts, talents and abilities He gives us. This includes the gift of prophecy.
In the ‘parable of the talents,’ Jesus told a story about a master who gave money to each of three servants—He commended those who invested their money for a greater return, and admonished the one who buried his money out of fear. (Matt 25:14-30)
Multiplication and growth in our gifts, character and ministry honours God. Let us be like Timothy, and the wise and faithful servants, and invest in the prophetic gift God has given to us.

BOOK REVIEW- CHASED

This is a standalone, full length novel. Another full length novel, UNSCRIPTED, is included as a bonus. Free in Kindle Unlimited
Chase Alexander Marshall has come a long way from the nerdy shadow he was in high school and he’s gotten to where he is by working hard and focusing on every goal he’d set himself. All but one.
The only thing left to make his life perfect is Remy.
Unfortunately Remy Harrow is not free to pursue - well, not technically anyway - but that will not stop the determined mogul from taking what he considers his.     AMAZON

I liked this book, it had some depth. OK, I'll admit it was a bit raw, with some of the language and the sex scenes but this story is deeper than it looks at first.  It actually had a lot of surprises to it and the major surprise near the end, made me gasp.  I never saw it coming and in some ways I didn't like it but it was a good one!  I really  won't say anything more about that because "Come on, why should I ruin it for the next reader?" Chase and Remy each really drew me in and the author made me care about them. Chase and Remy both have gone through some horrific things.  Chase is so afraid that he's going to lose Remy after all this and because he did some stupid "man things" almost does.  Some readers might not appreciate some of the manipulative things he did and some of his controlling ways.  He was also trying to protect her, from others and sometimes from himself.  Chase's best friend, Gabe is smart, handsome and tough. He also is a loyal friend, who has Chase's back.  Chase also has several other "kick butt" friends that figure into the story.
All in all a well written story, that kept my attention.
                 AND

I wish I could say the same for the Bonus Book, "Unscripted".  I just couldn't get into that one. It went to almost Instant Sex, before it really got into very much information about the two M.C.'s.   It just didn't draw  me in and I couldn't finish it.  Others migh like it but it just wasn't my cup of tea.

GOD'S UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

BY HIS STRIPES YOU WERE HEALED ..IS UNCHANGING (KENNETH COPELAND)

The Bible is the absolute, final authority in this life. It is just as much a manifestation of God in this earth as the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. When you get that down into your heart, you will never be a failure again. The Word “by his stripes ye were healed” (1 Peter 2:24) is unchanging. Any symptoms you have are changeable.

People will say they R Tired

People will say they are tired! This is your treadmill scripture:

“He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

Be Dangerous- Lance Wallnau

BE DANGEROUS

Let us believe that God is having His way in the whirlwind of American politics. The devil has his eye on two types of people. One type is invested with the power of influence in the natural. These are the Gatekeepers at the gates of influence. They can write a big check, sing a big song, pass a significant legislation, tell a big lie in a movie or documentary. Often these people are known- especially in their field. Often they are compromised before they get to the top.

The other type of person the devil keeps an eye on are not known on earth- they are known in Hell. Unknown yet well known, they have authority at the gates of Hell. Naturally weak but spiritually powerful these souls have the power to reproduce themselves and blast people out of darkness. The devil has hooks in the jaws of the secular gatekeepers, their movements are predictable. The movement of those who are led by the Spirit are harder to anticipate.

These are the truly dangerous, especially when they make it their business to be in proximity to the gates of Influence and win the souls of gatekeepers. Of particular dread to the enemy is the intercessor who knows how to get ahold of heaven and pray till the burden of the Lord lifts. Travailing prayer freaks the devil out.

These are the dangerous ones.   LINK

BOOK REVIEW- THE RAKE'S IRISH LADY

Widowed and lonely, Bridget O’Shaughnessy Black indulges herself in a night of pleasure.
After all, she's in disguise. And the baby girl? An unexpected blessing...until an old flame claims the child as his own to force Bridget to marry him.
ONE DETERMINED LADY. . . Many women pursued Colin Warren, but only one climbed in his bedchamber window. When Bridget does it for the second time, she needs his help. Colin is unfit to be a parent, and yet he has no choice but to acknowledge the little girl.
RISKING EVERYTHING FOR LOVE Together they must solve the mystery of the old flame’s intentions—but can they reconcile their divided loyalties—Irish and English—through the power of love?  AMAZON

The storyline is what drew my attention.  It was different and unique.  Bridget was definitely a woman who didn't fit in with the times.  She was a lady but some, thought she behaved like a fallen woman.  She knew what she wanted and went after it.   This got her into a whole bunch of trouble when she turned up pregnant from one wild night with Colin.  Of course she managed to cover everything perfectly by having her baby elsewhere before returning home. Yes, everything was going smoothly until her distant cousin Martin Fallow shows up claiming her child as his.  What is he up to?  Bridget wasn't in love with him and wouldn't marry  him, so he started by threatening her careful put together life.   She sees through his insincere claims of passion for her but she also sees that his lies are winning over the people around her.  How in the world was she going to defeat him?  Colin, was one hot mess.  He was bored with life in general and life didn't feel much different from day to day.   When Bridget goes to talk to him, he doesn't want to talk to her because he thought she was just a schemer.  What a clod... He jerks around until he HAS to talk to her.  As time goes on we do see that he does have some redeeming qualities.  There are reasons that Colin feels unqualified to be a parent and they are some pretty good ones.   Sylvie, was Colin and Bridget's daughter and she was one strong willed child.  She also brought drama to the story.  There are twists, turns, chases and arguments as well as some loving.

You Are Outrageously Loved by God

uncomonlove
Love in the biblical sense is a longing and an intention towards another person. So God’s agape creates a longing and an intention in us towards Himself. His love draws us to Him. When you get touched by the love of God, you have to love Him. It’s like you have no choice. It’s just the way that passion rises up in you for Jesus, you have to bestow upon Him love. Why? Because you have received love. So He loves the initiation of love. He loves to initiate it. He is the creator. He is always making the first move.
Do you know what the beautiful thing is about the love of God? The love of God is not put off by failure because God is not ashamed to call us brethren. He is not embarrassed by us. Truth to tell, I believe that the Lord adores us. His love absorbs failure and keeps on loving regardless. God loves my failures because he loves me. He loves who I am.
God is not obsessed with sin. When He looks at you, who are put in Christ, He does not see sin. He sees Jesus. God is not cross-eyed! He doesn’t look at you with two different perspectives. He only has one perspective about you, and He put you into Christ. God is not obsessed with sin, He has dealt with sin once and for all.
Where were you when Jesus died? Stupid question,  you weren’t even born yet. So when He was hanging on the Cross, all your sins were in the future. Do you believe that right there, in that one sacrifice, that all your sins were covered by the love of God? Then your sin—past, present, and future—has been dealt with once and for all. Jesus is not going to die again. Once was required, once was enough, once is all you get.
So when God looks at you, He does not see what is wrong. He sees what is missing out of your experience of Jesus. He has dealt with sin. He is not bothered about sin anymore in you. He will be concerned about sin in the world, but when you have come to Christ and confessed Him as Lord and Savior, He puts you into Jesus at that point, and the Father looks at you through the Son.
Isn’t that a great thought that God is looking at you right now and He knows what is missing from your current experience of Jesus, and He intends to be that for you. So God is always looking to be something for you. He is looking to come to you in a particular way and say, “I know what’s missing from your experience, and I have this.”
In the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, when the Holy Spirit puts His finger on a part of our life, He may bring us under conviction, “This is inappropriate,” but when the Holy Spirit convicts us of something, He always has a gift right there. God will always come to you with a gift. Why? Because He is a giver. When God comes to you, He has something to give you. Why? From Him, through Him, to Him; it’s an endless cycle of relationship. God is always contributing. Why? Because He is a giver. He is the lover of your soul. He has something to bestow upon you that you need to get, and you need to get that you are loved magnificently.
You need to get it that you are loved outrageously, and you need to get away from condemnation because there isn’t any.
Uncommon Love
The article above is an excerpt from Graham's incredible teaching, Uncommon Love. Uncommon Love was designed to teach us the difference between the common love that exists in the world and the perfect, overwhelming love of God. We are to be loved in a way that is healing, releasing and uplifting. He sees the best in us. He loves our potential. He has a plan for our freedom and our welfare that is wrapped in His goodness and kindness. Through the end of February this teaching is available at Brilliant Book House at a discounted price, be sure not to miss it!

BOOK REVIEW- MONTANA COWGIRL

Some dreams come with a big price tag.
Bailey Jenkins left her hometown of Marietta, Montana, at eighteen, poised to take college and the rodeo world by storm–despite Paul Zabrinski. On the eve of her great escape, at the top of the Ferris Wheel at the Big Marietta Fair, he invoked his great-grandmother Hilda’s curse. “If you do this, Bailey Jenkins, I will hate you forever. And I’ll call on my great-grandmother to curse you. She was a Gypsy witch, you know.”
Fifteen years later, Bailey’s back–shattered, humbled by fate and bruised at the soul level but determined to rebuild–once she helps her parents get back on their feet. She didn’t expect Paul Zabrinski to meet her plane, but seeing him strong, handsome and successful is somehow fitting. After all, Bailey didn’t need Paul’s gypsy great-grandmother to put a curse on her–Bailey already had the worst luck on the planet.
Never say never.
One look at Bailey Jenkins–his first love, the woman he adored…and cursed–and every emotion Paul Zabrinski felt fifteen years earlier comes rushing back. The love of his life broke his heart and made him hate her…or so he thought. The line between love and hate is very narrow, with only so much room for forgiveness. But Paul Zabrinski owns Big Z Hardware and Construction. If anyone is capable of building a bridge for them to cross together, it’s him.   AMAZON 4 STARS

Emotional, that's a good word to describe this story.  Emotions, loss, and regrets are all  part of this story.  But hope also crops up too, hope for a better future.  Some serious issues are addressed in this book and there is the past to overcome and not just by Bailey and Paul.  The struggle is also shown with Bailey's parents too but there is a HEA.

BOOK REVIEW- CRASH AND BURN

A childhood promise has Chance Walker picking up a guitar once again. He hires sexy Erin Michaelson to bring music back into his life. Not only is she incredibly talented, she's one of the most intriguing women he’s ever met. It's hard to focus on correct finger position when her sweet scent threatens to drive him out of his mind.
Less than twenty-four hours later he sees her again, but this time she’s on stage using another name and seducing an entire audience of men. A single, sizzling backstage kiss will change both of their lives forever, because Chance soon realizes that Erin is not just an itch, she’s an obsession that he refuses to live without. AMAZON

This is an Adult Story.  Interesting condition that Chance was placed in.  What am I talking about?  The 3 desires that he wrote down years ago come back to taunt him as an adult.  Erin and Chance are both so different in their lifestyles but they do have a few things in common.  Like, instant attraction to each other and a desire to break out of their normal "nose to the grindstone".  They want to remember how to have fun for a change.   They both also went through some really tough things as kids but it really its pretty well hidden from others.  Both Chance and Erin are hard workers, not afraid to work towards their drams.  Erin had an alter ego who appeared on stage (Eva  James) and that part of her is the one that lets her passion out. There is sex as well as romance in this story.  I liked both of the Main Characters, even though things got a little raw at times and the language a bit rough.  Chance and Erin's family was rough too, each in their own way.
There is a short excerpt of Jake (one of Chance's brothers) included called, "Alone with You."

There really is a song "Crash and Burn", the lyrics are included at the back of the book. The song also became available at Amazon Music and Apple iTunes, January 2016.

How to Read 365 Books in a Year--or at Least Read Every Day

 IMAGE: Getty Images
I read 365 books a year. Learn how to develop your own book-reading habit.
President and CEO, Lead From Within

For over 30 years, I've read a book a day.
Can you imagine having Richard Branson, Bill Gates, Larry Page, Warren Buffet, Elon Musk, and Jeff Bezos as your mentors?
Can you envision having Mother Teresa, Victor Frankl, and Martin Luther King as your dinner guests? I've done so, many times. All by reading their books.
I owe a huge part of my success to the excellent mentors, my brilliant guides, my wise counselors, the most accessible of teachers who have come to me through books.
Books to me are the gateway to knowledge and wisdom at my fingertips. Even if you read online and in magazines, there's something more to be gained from the sustained experience of reading books. You understand the writer and their thoughts better, and you gain depth that isn't easily possible reading blogs and magazines.
Here's how to make reading books a regular part of your day, and some of the benefits of regular reading:

1. Structure your habit.

As with anything you want to accomplish, you have to spend time and discipline cultivating it into a habit. Every morning before I start my day, I awake an hour or two early and read. People say I'm a fast reader, but at least part of that is the time of day--with no distractions I am able to really focus. Whether it's morning, noon, or nighttime, carve out a time every day when you can read.

2. Contemplate your WHY.

Ask yourself what you hope to get from your reading. For me, it is always to learn something new. Structure your reading habit around your motivation and you'll get more out of it.

3. Broaden your wisdom.

Epictetus described books as "the training weights of the mind." Books not only open your mind to new ideas but also broaden your general wisdom and attention span.

4. Learn valuable lessons.

Whether they're fiction or nonfiction, great books help you understand and feel understood. A great book should have many takeaways that leave you feeling energized and inspired.

5. Do things on repeat.

Rereading can be a valuable practice. I read mostly first-time books now, but when I first started I reread the same 25 books over and over. Sometimes a book you've already read is like an old friend whose guidance you need to return to at a particular point in life.

6. Experience different points of view.

There's no need to be stuck in your own limitations of age, gender, culture, job, or social class. Reading books from a diverse spectrum helps us not just understand but also experience the lives of others.

7. Take a journey.

Books can also open your horizons and take you places where you learn something new. The best adventures are journeys, and books are a great way to travel.

8. Go your own way.

Don't read what everyone else is reading; read what you are interested in. I read books on business and leadership books, but I also branch out into other topics. Follow your own diverse taste instead of the herd.

9. Take delight.

Read at the pace you enjoy, whether it's fast or slow. A book a day works for me, but the way you read should be as individual as what you read. It's a wonderful thing to relish the magic of a book.

10. Highlight for memory.

Take notes or simply highlight on the page (paper or electronic) the passages that you mean something to you. When you go back, check against your former understanding and see if the highlighted sections still speak to you. If a passage is really meaningful, indulge in the old-fashioned pleasure of committing it to memory--there's a reason people used to call memorization learning by heart.

11. Talk about it.

When you read, you'll soon develop a set of reading-derived opinions and insights. Sharing them often makes for interesting conversation--not to mention the fun of connecting someone with a book they'll enjoy.

12.  Plug in to the power.

Read the kind of books that change your life--the kind that make you feel better than who you are, that make you think more than you know, that make you feel more than you thought you could feel.
If you think this is something for you I urge you to get started today. Find your own pace and your own books, your own habit, your own why.
Thomas Jefferson once said, "I cannot live without books." I understand what he meant. For me, and for every serious reader, books are not just fundamental but transformative as well.

Blood Bought Fact- Kenneth Copeland

"Not a promise, it is a blood-bought fact!

I refuse to ever say anything other than 'By his stripes I was healed!' I will not compromise His Word."

--Kenneth Copeland

Before We Choose an Action, We Have Already Chosen a Thought.2 By Graham Cooke

photo-1445723356089-6dbb51d9c4f8
There is a reason why the Father tells us to take our thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Because every action has a starting place. Every strong emotion has a beginning.
All transformation originates in renewed thinking (Romans 12:2). How we think about ourselves dominates our behavior (Proverbs 23:7) and sets our agenda in life towards other people.

Simply put, how we think about ourselves sets the attitude in which we approach life.

An attitude is simply a posture that we adopt or a position we take that expresses some thought or feeling. It becomes a habit and shows up constantly in our behavior. It is a habitual mode of thought.
Every day we wake up with an attitude. It’s a mindset that either works for or against us. Differing situations provoke a behavioral response that is positive or negative. Certain people bring out particular responses that govern our behavior towards them. These attitudes are rooted in perceptions and emotions that are entrenched in a thought.

The mind is the seedbed for all that we do and say.8

Negative thoughts are confirmed by unenthusiastic emotions. Positive thoughts cheerfully validate everyone and everything.
Jesus has set us free to learn how to become like Him.2
“Let this mind (i.e., have this attitude) be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus, who although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped. He emptied made himself nothing, taking the form of a bondservant. Being found in the likeness as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” (Philippians 2:5–8)
The thinking of Jesus shaped His personality as a man. It changed his persona as a bondslave, his ministry towards humanity and his humility and obedience towards his Father.
He took on new mindsets, attitudes and approaches to life so that he could fulfill the purpose of His Father. All these were deliberate thoughts and actions on His part.
He thought it through! He changed His thinking to accommodate the life that was required of Him. He was not double-minded and therefore unstable ( James 1:8) in His thinking, emotions and behavior.

The reason that we are in our current position is always our thinking.7

Our thinking brought us here; and it must therefore take us out and onward. If our thinking has brought us to a place that we don’t like, then surely it is time for a better thought!

P.S. Think of a situation that is causing stress in your life. What is the basis of your thinking and attitude about it? What would a better thought and attitude look like to you?
P.P.S. Want more on this? Be sure to get “The Art of Thinking Brilliantly.
