My 4 STAR Review- TITLED: Things are about to explode
This book starts out with Dugan Stewart jerking Finlay Fraser around by sending a message to come visit him in prison. He doesn't want to go BUT he still has questions about what happened to his father! Isla is still looking for those missing Vellum scrolls. It takes awhile before they can team up together. But when they do Finlay, Isla and their dog Shakespeare make a really good team. She's just recently been nominated to be the new Historical Society that she is going to be re-doing. The council that she will be heading want those scrolls back home at Lochraven since the Oxford University really has no right to them. What's Collins Russel up to? He's fighting so hard to keep the scrolls at Oxford and I don't trust him? Isla's best friend and fellow council person is Dr. Alisa and her, I do trust. I liked Isla's grandmother, Moira but is she holding back any information?
There's dark magic going on as well as suspects keep coming into focus but I never saw what was coming when it came to the WHO is doing it and Why !! This has some creepy twists and turns that are intricately woven. The relationship between Isla and Finlay was sweet and they sure had each other's backs. Just about everything is concluded ⚠️ Cliffhanger alert! -but with several outstanding questions about Finlay's father - that will have to wait until the next book.
