Janet Wild has always loved dogs.

But she never expected one to fall out of the sky. Or the murder that followed.

While hiding in a canyon overlook after a particularly bad day, an injured Scottie dog lands on Janet’s car.

When Dr. Klieger, the veterinarian treating McTavish, is murdered, Janet turns to Simon Blake, an aging investigative reporter, and Jennifer Wooley, her BFF from days gone by, for help in avenging both.

They soon find themselves entangled in a labyrinth of clues, cryptic phone calls, and a growing list of suspects. Getting to the facts is not easy and the three find themselves chasing after a few red herrings.

Was Klieger killed by Lacey, his veterinary assistant? Did Albee Strang, the local dog breeder, push McTavish off the cliff? After Janet's car is vandalized, she worries she's next.

With danger circling closer and trust in short supply, Janet must rely on sharp wits, loyal friends, and the steadfast courage of a battered Scottie to chase the truth before the killer strikes again.

My REVIEW- TITLED: Janet's having a Very BAD, bad day !

It doesn't look like her days are getting much better when Simon Blake first steps into her life. He knows a lot about her because he does his homework. He's not just all charm, although he has the looks and some former fame. I wonder if he knows she got served with divorce papers? He does know that her friend Jennifer has been her former partner. I really liked that when Janet recuses the little dog, she promptly names him, McTavish ! After that more disaster happens after she takes him to an emergency vet clinic. I really liked the vet and his office assistant Lacey Mortenson. There was just the two on them there that night.

I liked that Janet had friends like Jennifer who is helping by doing some digging of her own. All the time cautioning Janet to be REALLY careful because there must be something deeper going on !

I liked how it all ended and how Chapter 7 was titled: New Leash on Life. Clever title and a new life hopefully !
