BOOK REVIEW- HONOR BOUND
To save her people, Mikayla S'Apul has only two options: Become a prize in the upcoming battle or take control of her fate. When a worn journal falls into her hands revealing the secrets of a legendary group of warriors, Mikayla realizes it holds the answer to her dilemma. A marriage of convenience is the only way to protect the Raasa people.
Overlord Vaan Galip is the commander of the Warlord army tasked with protecting Kabanians and bringing peace to his lands. Betrayed by one of his own, joining with Mikayla S'Apul would provide her people with protection while giving him the opportunity for vengeance. Falling for the Raasa female was never part of his plans.
When a common enemy threatens, Vaan and Mikayla learn the true depth of what it means to be bound not only by marriage but by honor. AMAZON
I really enjoyed this book and just flew through it. I'm also looking forward to more in this series. Although I'm not really a fan of the idea of 1.5 books and etc., I just might give it a try because I did enjoy the story that much. Now, with that said, let's get down to more about this book.
I really have to give Mikayla credit for her gutsy move when it came to going after the Warriors. She really had no idea just how fierce they were going to be. But she was desperate to save her people. Vaan was 100 % Warrior without once ounce of softness to him. Not only physically but emotionally and his way with women too. That made for an interesting part of the story. Mikayla may be desperate and sometimes gutsy but she is also fragile in her own ways. Just the difference between her and Vaan physically to name one. Her people are slight and slim in appearance, but with a hidden weapon that causes even Overlord Vaan to sleep with a weapon under his pillow after they are wed. Something's gotta give when it comes to the two of them though, because their cultures are clashing. It was fun to watch how that came about and it didn't happen overnight. Yep, the culture building for both races was well done as well as the physical differences too! At least I thought it was pretty creative. The battles? Pretty good too, because you know their will be, sooner or later.
Vaan's Warlord's were each unique and distinct in their own way. Those closest to him were the ones mainly focused on. You have to remember, there were 15 of them, it might have been a bit much to try to focus on that many in the beginning story. I'm glad that the author didn't even try to.
*possible spoiler*-
I have to agree with another reviewer that one of my favorite parts is that the hero hasn't been around women at all and unlike most heroes in other books is not a 'perfect lover'. In fact his race didn't believe that the women needed to find pleasure. They just needed to give their men pleasure.
