National Women's History Museum (p)


#HBD to ballerina Marjorie Tallchief born #OnThisDayin 1927. Tallchief was first American ever to become the première danseuse étoile at the Paris Opéra Ballet. Tallchief and her sister Maria grew up on a Osage Indian reservation in Oklahoma both going on to become professional ballerinas. Both danced nationally as well as internationally for a variety of companies. Then in 1980 the sisters helped found the Chicago City Ballet.
