4 Things You Can Do to Align Yourself for Change
Doug Addison
Are there are areas of your life you would like to see changed?
Maybe it is with your health, relationships, financial situation or growing in your ability to hear God. Whatever area you need change in, this is a strategic time to get aligned with the new season that is upon us now.
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10
God is preparing some great new things for you to step into. This new season we are entering into will bring greater clarity to your life calling and destiny.
I want to help you identify 4 things you can do to help you in this process of aligning yourself for what is coming next.
1. Seeing your life as a journey—with a purpose.
People learn best from experience, and we grow from the journey. When you discover your unique calling then everything will begin to flow. You move from living a life of activities to being guided by your life purpose.
Many people stay busy with working their job, going to school, going to church, coming home and hanging out with friends and family. These things are not bad but unless you discover a greater purpose you will eventually feel unfulfilled later in life.
2. Connecting the dots.
Your life purpose and destiny are like a “connect-the-dots” drawing. The picture may not be all that clear at first, but your mission for now is to simply find the next dot. You cannot skip through to the end, as you will need to learn valuable lessons that will help you later on.
You can fast track or accelerate the process by being intentional and working hand-in-hand with God towards it.
God has been leaving you clues with each relationship, job and life experience. If you take time to look at the big picture of your life, often the picture will begin to take better shape. Everything that happens to you can help train you for the future once you recognize this process and work with it.
3. Getting motivated.
There are two ways that most people get motivated to change their lives:
• Inspiration. This is when you find something in life to inspire you or you have an overwhelming passion to achieve something. Not many people have this kind of clarity about their calling.
• Desperation. This is when you have an idea or no clue at all what to do in your life. You get so desperately dissatisfied that you set out on a journey to find something more in life.
It does not matter whether you are motivated by inspiration or desperation. What counts is taking steps to do something about it.
Dissatisfaction or feeling frustrated is not bad because it can motivate you to find more in life. For me it was dissatisfaction with my life situation that drove me to find my life purpose. Now I am motivated by the satisfaction I get from fulfilling it. But this did not happen overnight.
Once you begin to live a life with purpose you may very well discover more creativity, more inspiration and feel like you have a reason to live. Many people begin to awaken to the unlimited possibilities and maybe even discover something worth living for or better yet, something worth dying for as well (but not necessarily literal death).
4. Looking for the clues in your life.
Has God spoken to you about your future? Can you look back and learn anything from the previous seasons you have gone through?
What I’ve found is that most people already have what they need to either get started or take the next step in their destiny. They just need encouragement or directions to move forward.
God has been leaving you clues all your life about your uniqueness and it is up to you to recognize them and take steps to activate and grow.
