BOOK REVIEW- NEVER HAD A DREAM COME TRUE

Lady Penelope de Vere has been around Rake (Richard) and loved him since childhood.  He's never really seen her other than just the best friend of his beloved niece Fanny.  Even as an adult woman he never really saw her, until she took a nearly nude swim in a pond and then suddenly he did.  He's known to be a libertine, a womanizer.  About the time Penelope is ready to give up her dreams and move on from Rake he begins to chase her.  He's thinking she could be a woman he could love and she thinks she'd just be another conquest.

I liked this story, because there were a lot of challenges that Penny had to overcome. Rafe was only one of those.  He also had some of those as well but Penny really was unwanted by some and wanted for the wrong reasons by others.   I also wanted to yell at both MC's " (more than once)  "Hello...Communication!"  It was really clear that they weren't really listening to each other or some of this would have been sorted out so much earlier.  Both Penny and Rake kind of came to the same conclusion themselves in the storyline.   It did make me want to shake them.  Hard. And often.  But I guess, if you look at it like Rafe had never been in love and Penny went through so much heartache by other causes as well as unrequited love; they just weren't making good choices.
One of my favorite thoughts that Penny had about Rake was that he was a snake. A snake that mesmerized their victims. just before they ate them.   Interesting way to put it.
