Meg Cole is suddenly thrust into the high pressure world of Cole oil; because of her father's death. She's as different from her father as she can be and is not excited about taking over this huge responsibility and so many more of the other interests and investments that he was involved in. She has to return to Texas, and Whispering Creek Ranch, a place that holds a lot of painful memories for her as well. One of the first pieces of business is to trim down some things she's not interested in; one of those things is the Thoroughbred racehorse farm. She gives, Bo Parker, who is manager six months to close it down.
The main character, Meg was an interesting, real person with very real vulnerabilities; a poor little rich girl.. And Cole finds himself being drawn to her and wanting to protect her even when everything with in himself says, this is a bad idea. I liked the story and the people in the story. An enjoyable read; but also a bit predictable towards the end. It did go on a bit longer than I liked at one point, but not enough for me to dislike it. Is God included in this story? Yes. Is Bible scripture included? Yes. Does it have some of the people relying on God's guidance? Yes. But I liked that. Will some people possibly be turned off by that? Maybe. But I enjoyed it. It was also a clean read without any slutty, soft porn in it. So if you're looking for descriptive, moaning and groaning, hot sex in a book. This isn't it. Its what I would call, a charming read.
