Book Review: The Lifestyle of a Prophet

Lifestyle of a Prophet, The: A 21-Day Journey to Embracing Your Calling
This study written by James Goll, an established prophet; known to many in the prophetic community.  He very generously shares the ups and downs of not only being a prophet but also being a part of the prophetic community.  A necessary but often misunderstood part of the body of Christ. The information is set up as a daily study with a set of personal questions at the end of each day (chapter).

James Goll, shares past history of prophets and their lifestyles, different disciplines that are necessary to develop in this walk and the character building that is also necessary to finish well.  He points out time and again that its not for prophets only. He shows the pitfalls and side trails that can take us out of action for Jesus in what He's called us to. He always brings everything back to the Cross and giving glory to Jesus. Also included are some personal stories, but they are not the majority of the book.   Being a prophet or a prophetic people is not a cake walk; its going AGAINST, the main flow of the culture we live in.  People inside and outside of the church aren't going to always like it but God in His mercy and Wisdom and set it up this way.  I found this to be a book with a good scriptural foundation and since I grew up in a time where there wasn't very much mentoring in this area, it sure would have been nice to get my hands on it much earlier.  it would have explained a lot.  While I found the book well written; I also found it kind of dry too; which surprised me.  Not sure exactly what I was expecting.  I wanted to like it more.
