BOOK REVIEW: Fallen from Babel

Imagine yourself safe and secure in your carefully constructed life, you're on the fast track to a long desired promotion.  You're secure in the knowledge that there are MANY paths to God; not just One God.  And you've been pursuing those paths and teaching others about it too.  Then suddenly all of that is in question as Peter Thorton, a logical man, an educated man, touches an artifact just found from ancient Babylon. Suddenly, he's transported back in time 3,000 years to Babylon.  Somehow, he knows the language, people are calling him Rim-Sin; a sorcerer and high priest to the gods of Babylon. And Rim-Sin has been found in an act of  murder, and now he (Peter) is running for his life.  Fasten your seat belts, its going to be a bumpy ride!

Great writing!  I enjoyed it immensely.  The details of the country; the drama at the court of the king and the people are so interesting.  A fight against evil; ancient evil.  A struggle for power; other magicians and sorcerers jockeying for power and position;  Qurdi is only one Rim-Sin's enemies but a very powerful evil one.  There are also Hebrew people, who have been taken into captivity and brought to Babylon ( according to scripture)  Seems like Rim-Sin has a Hebrew concubine named Kaida; who hates Peter on sight.  She is a woman, who despite her position speaks out to bring Truth to Rim-Sin (Peter) , as she questions why she should care. There are many struggles going on in this book; but probably the most important is the struggle for Peter's soul.  You see, everything he's ever believed about there being no good or evil, there being no absolutes, you make your own future or destiny, is being challenged on every level.

A friend recommended this book to me, she said I would like it.  She was totally right.
Its like an Indiana Jones, Alice in Wonderland,  totally out of this world adventure.
