BOOK REVIEW- HIDDEN (Deep Ops #1) by Rebecca Zanetti

Hidden (Deep Ops) by [Zanetti, Rebecca]
Hide. That's all Pippa can do to escape the terror chasing her. But now that she's off the grid in a safe house, she finds plenty of interesting things to watch through the window. Like her new neighbor, with his startling green eyes, killer smile, and sexy bad-boy tattoo . . .

Run. Malcolm West is fleeing the hell he unleashed in his last assignment as an undercover cop. A backwoods bungalow sounds like the perfect place to start over. Until he discovers he's been set up . . .

Fight. Someone's gone to a lot of trouble to bring them together. No matter how much he resents that, and his own driving needs, Malcolm will have to dig deep and let loose the banished killer inside himself, or Pippa's fears could come true faster than the flip of a bolt in a lock . . .AMAZON 5 STARS

When Pippa spots Malcolm (Mal) she has at least two embarrassing encounters in the beginning.  Both times she was mainly trying to watch things without being seen.  The when they do come face to face, she opens her mouth and says one of the most embarrassing sentences that she could.  Heck, I felt embarrassed for her.  But Malcolm was mainly amused!  The emotions in the story were well expressed and there were plenty of them.
I really liked both of the main characters.  They both had gone through some traumatic things.  And as we read we find out that BOTH of them suffer nightmares.  But there is also a really good romance that develops as does some pretty hot sex between them.
Angus Force, Wolfe, and the psychiatrist Dr. Nari  Zhan are the beginning additions to the team members that Mal is "forced" to work with.  And after awhile a few other interesting people get added to the team as well. Each one of them is a skilled but also really colorful characters.  I think in the book Mal thought of them as an odd team. Which they truly were but they did begin to gel together pretty well.

I loved the unique dog Roscoe.  He made for some funny and unusual moments.  He is full of quirky ways.  Which make him fit in really well with his human counterparts.

The whole story is tense, with all the action that a reader could hope for.  And The Prophet who has been searching for Pippa?  Clever, charismatic, manipulative and cunning. Oh and don't forget cruel!  Nothing is too far for The Prophet to go since he believes he knows the only way.  Any who try to question him or cross him get punished and often disappear. The whole story ratchets up as things come to a head in the last few chapters.  Twists, turns and surprises await as well as an explosive ending.
I really liked that there was an Epilogue added and there was a quick look into another book in this series.  It looks like we get to know more about two of the last people added to the team.   That would be Brigid Banaghan (computer hacker) and her unwelcome but hot handler, Raider Tanaka.  It does look promising and is called "Fallen" the next Requisition novel.
On side note-  I really liked the original way that the book blurb described this book.  The eBook cover caught my attention as well.
I've read several books by this author and found she has quite the way with a story.  She didn't disappoint in this one either.

"I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book via Netgalley and this is my honest opinion of it."
