It had good main characters as well as an interesting cast of supporting people too. One of those had to be Benjamin's running wild five year old son, Geoffrey. He really did add some wild adventures for a boy so young. And he's smart as well as mischievous. The only one who really seemed to be able to get him to anything that looked like obedience was Tom. A young boy who had come along in his wanderings and befriended Geoffrey. They made quite the interesting pair.
Arthur adds to the story as Benjamin's well meaning uncle. An uncle who was worried about his nephew and his great-nephew. It ended up causing him to stir things up a bit when the opportunity came up. He was hoping that what he started would really help all of them.
Jean has had her share of horrors from the very youngest part of her childhood. But she has fought and rose up from most of it to make a life that she wanted. And it got quite emotional when you see how much she did have to overcome.
It was a somewhat charming story that ran at a somewhat slowed pace for the most part.
I thought I should mention though that this eBook had a really attractive cover.
