BOOK REVIEW- SHE HATES ME NOT : A Richer in Love Romance by F.E. Greene

She Hates Me Not: A Richer in Love Romance by [Greene, F. E.]
A fun and flirty romance with a hint of suspense from the author of the Love Across Londons series. Clean. Sweet. A perfect beach read!

He's Britain's "uncatchable" bachelor. She's trying not to get caught.

Lou Aucoin has carved out a simple life for herself in the charming English town of Stratford-upon-Avon. Although it's an ocean away from her childhood home in the bayous of Louisiana, Stratford offers something which St. Charles Parish doesn't: safety from a threat that Lou never helped to create.
t love for Lou. Can Lou make room in her life for a man she's supposed to hate, especially when his every move may end up on tomorrow's front page?

Set against the delightful backdrop of Stratford-upon-Avon, She Hates Me Not blends heartwarming romance with mild suspense as Lou and Kip confront their troubled pasts in the hopes of loving again. It is the seventh novel by F. E. Greene and first in the Richer in Love romance series which can be read in any order.   AMAZON .   3.5 STARS

This was a charming, sweet story.  The unusual title really did catch my attention.  But so did the description of the book's plot.
Lou was quite the blend of fresh air, bayou style.  As you can guess Lou is not her full real name.  Her real name is definitely a surprise and understandable when it comes to how her nickname came about.  She also has several reasons to be on the run as well as needing to help her sick sister.  She is one sweet girl from Louisiana and brings some of the language, humor and food from that culture.  That part of the world building was well done I thought.
Kip is really intrigued by Lou, having never met anyone like her before.  And he wants to know her more and more.  Too bad his manipulative powerhouse rich mother made a "one and done" deal with Lou.  One evening spent with Kip and then she could never contact him again.  Ever.  Too bad that Kip never got that memo and he chases after her.
So begins a lot of the story.  Lou is trying to hold up her end of the deal but Kip refuses to cooperate.  It leads for quite the merry chase.  I will say that although Kip loves his mother, he refuses to be controlled by her.  And it did seem like she might have had some redeeming qualities hidden in all of her order giving mannerisms.
Lou has formed some friendships along the way and two of those friends have kind of adopted her as her substitute mothers.  Beryl is one and Moggie was the other woman and they both added color and fire.
Both of them thought that maybe Lou was over reacting when it came to a danger following Lou and her sister.  They loved her but thought just maybe she had lived with fear for too long.
There is an element of action and danger that enters into the story towards the end.   Along with a H.E.A. and quick look into the story of Kip's brother Ben. Ben was in this book but gets his own story in
Book 2.
Can I just say that I liked the bright, sunny cover on the eBook?

I received a copy of this book and these are my honest opinions of it.

REVIEW- BLURRED RED LINES (Carrera Cartel Book 1) by Cora Kenborn

Blurred Red Lines (Carrera Cartel Book 1) by [Kenborn, Cora]
Nothing’s deadlier than sleeping with the enemy.

Eden

In the wrong place at the wrong time, my life is forever altered when I witness a botched cartel hit. Kidnapped and held against my will, I find myself thrust into a longstanding cartel war as some sick consolation prize. I’ll make it out of here, and when I do, everyone from the drug lord to the bottom-feeding trigger man will fall.
That is, if I can stop myself from falling first. For him. I should hate him. He holds me prisoner, but I'm the one who refuses to leave.

Valentin

My name is whispered in fear. As the heir to the Carrera Cartel, I’m determined to defy my legacy and do things my way. When an innocent man’s death put a witness on my radar, I try to convince myself I’m keeping her prisoner to discover her secrets. It’s a lie. I want her, but this dangerous attraction risks both my empire and our lives.
I’ve spent my life in a solitude of my own choosing, but now that I have Eden beside me, I won’t let her go. If we burn…we burn together.   AMAZON   5 STARS

Of course, going into this book I knew the language and some of the events were going brutal.  And there was that in the story but it didn't stop there either.
Both of the main characters were awesomely interesting and their personalities were not drawn in a shallow way, they had depth.   Eden was one tough cookie in some ways and she would be the first to say that she was no angel.  But wow, she sure was going to have to draw on that toughness for what she had to go through.  Don't get me wrong, she also had some really good qualities too.  She was loyal to those that she loved and she doesn't budge an inch when it comes to being a part of protecting them the best that she can.
Valentin (Val) had lived an incredibly violent life beginning when the violence erupted in his six year old life. Prior to that he had a loving mother, a baby sister and a sometimes fear inducing father (when he was around).  It didn't take to long after that for Val to be drawn into the brutality of his father's lifestyle.   He thought all kindness, any tenderness or heart had been pretty much beaten out of him.  But then he met Eden.  I liked the way he put it that Cherry/Eden stormed into his life. That was a really good way to put it.  I really got a kick out of how Eden came up with the name "Danger" before she knew his name was Val.  And even after she did know his real name she often called him Danger.   Things also began to get worse when it came to the war with Manuel  Munoz's gang.  The war was heating up with more losses including people in the Carrera Cartel.
Tension, danger, surprises remain high throughout the book.  Talk about reading a book at the edge of my seat.  There was also a surprise twist that I had wondered about for awhile.
An Epilogue is included and I enjoyed that as well.
Heck, I even smiled when I read the unusual Acknowledgements that the author wrote.  I didn't just smile.  It made me grin.  I definitely like her style!   I will be keeping an eye out for more books by this author.

BOOK REVIEW- LADY HATHAWAY'S INDECENT PROPOSAL (Hathaway Heirs) by Susanna Medeiros

Lady Hathaway's Indecent Proposal (Hathaway Heirs Book 1) by [Medeiros, Suzanna]
She will do anything for a few nights in his arms.

Twelve years have passed since Miranda Hathaway ended her courtship with Andrew Osborne and married the older, but much wealthier, Viscount Hathaway. It is only one week after her husband’s death and Miranda cannot ignore the temptation to have a taste of what she threw away all those years ago when she followed her parents’ wishes. But to entice the man she never stopped loving, she will have to act quickly.

Now the Earl of Sanderson, Andrew is no longer the same man who once believed in love. When Miranda asks him to help her conceive a child—one whom she means to pass off as the next Hathaway heir—he sees her deceit as proof that she is not the same woman he once knew. However, he cannot ignore the temptation to finally have her in his bed.

Miranda knows she is infertile, but her deception gives her three weeks with Andrew. He plans to use that time to finally consign Miranda Hathaway to the past, while she hopes to build memories that will last her a lifetime.  AMAZON   3 STARS

The beautiful cover on this eBook drew my attention and I was hoping that the story would have depth.  But unfortunately for me it only ended up being a short book that was just okay.
The book information was something different when it came to an unusual plot and that raised my hopes. And both of the main characters suffered from the chose that Miranda was pressured to make to marry someone else.  I know that there was clues about the heat level of the book because of her "plot" but I was still hoping for more about their relationship outside of the bedroom.
It had a good but somewhat predictable ending and a lead in to another book that had to do with the new heir to the Hathaway estate.

BOOK REVIEW- FLETCHER'S PRIDE by Shirleen Davies

He’d do anything for a second chance.
Could her secrets and haunted past allow him back in?

Fletcher’s Pride, Book Eight, MacLarens of Boundary Mountain Historical Western Romance Series

Fletcher MacLaren lives a charmed life. He works hard and plays even harder. Handsome with an easy smile, he hasn’t considered settling down. Not until his gaze lands on the loveliest woman he’s ever seen. Creamy skin, golden blonde hair, and blue eyes so deep and clear, they sparkle. The first time he saw her, slowly descending the stairs of the saloon, she captured every man’s attention.

Madeleine Colbert shouldn’t want the tall, ridiculously attractive rancher whose heated gaze burns right through her. A haunted past and inability to stay in one place for long doesn’t bode well for any kind of relationship. And her job in the saloon isn’t what a respectable cowboy would consider suitable for anything other than a few fiery moments.

He can’t get her out of his mind. Fletch spends his days thinking of Maddy and his nights visiting the intriguing woman, until he needs her more than his next breath. But one short discussion with his father changes everything.

The note he sends cuts clean through, causing her heart to crack. Knowing he’ll never return, and with ruthless outlaws tracking her, Maddy makes the only decision possible. She runs.

Returning after several months, Fletcher’s first thought is of Maddy. The time away has been miserable. All he wants is to make amends and continue with what they had before he left.

For the first time in his life, he learns what it’s like to not get what he wants.

Hardship continues to plague Maddy. When the outlaws discover her new location, she finds herself on the run again, returning to Conviction. But not to the man she loves.

She may have outrun the people chasing her, but it doesn’t mean she’s escaped the one man who offers nothing except another broken heart. And now, Maddy is hiding her biggest secret of all.
AMAZON  4 STARS

Lots of action, great main characters and the solid MacLaren family make for a really interesting story. Maddy is running for her life, literally.  She's had one narrow escape after another but has managed to keep out of the reach of her pursuer.  But he is getting closer and closer.  You can almost feel the noose of his and his gang closing in on her.  Their leader is not only ruthless but he is also criminally clever.
I had to shake my head more than once over Fletcher because he didn't know if he was coming or going when it came to Maddy.  You could feel his confusion. Because of that he was jerking her all over the place when it came to feelings.  She knew hers but was becoming more and more less sure of his.  And she had plenty enough on her plate without that.  But of course, her problems keep adding.
There is a good action filled ending to the story but it also left me with the question of, "what happened to Lew Quick?".
Let me tell you about the Epilogue..I so enjoy it when there is one.
But this one?  It also delivered a punch in the stomach surprise that I didn't see coming.  Thank you author!

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and these are my opinions of it.

BOOK REVIEW- Defenseless (Somerton Security Book 1) BY Elizabeth Dyer

Defenseless (Somerton Security Book 1) by [Dyer, Elizabeth]
How far will she go to protect the sexiest guy in tech?
When ex-marine Georgia Bennett left the military for high-end private security, it was supposed to soften her snarky attitude. Instead, her short fuse just earned her a punishment of an assignment: protect too-smart-for-his-own-good tech genius and Department of Defense contractor Parker Livingston. It should have been easy--only no one warned Georgia that Parker was one seriously drop-dead-gorgeous geek.
The last thing Parker needs is a bodyguard, especially not one with killer curves and a sassy mouth who tempts him to do something incredibly stupid. He's too busy investigating whoever is turning his technology against him and threatening his team of covert operatives. But when an assassin sends Georgia and Parker running for their lives, it might just be the explosive sexual chemistry and the trust that's building between them that saves their necks. Because the only thing more dangerous than the combination of Parker's intellect and Georgia's aim is their steadfast desire to protect each other, no matter the cost.   AMAZON 5 STARS

Awesomely unique main characters!!  I ended up loving them both!  Parker is a off the charts tech genius with a whole lot of quirks.  It made him an even more interesting person in this book. He was someone who wasn't afraid to cross the line to get the information he needed to help improve his program and help people. He hacked some pretty classified accounts when things just weren't adding up.  He passed his concerns on to his friend Ethan who he also worked with.
Georgia came with her own load of baggage but I still found it pretty easy to like her too and hope for a great outcome for her.  She was a smart mouth who didn't enjoy guarding socialite's or governmental wives who look down their nose at her.  Oh, she has the skills she just doesn't have the patience for it.    She messes up so her boss Ethan sets her up guarding Parker.  But she has never had to guard someone like Parker before.  He so out of her realm of experience and their first meeting is genuinely outrageous.   It did make me laugh more than once at some of their encounters.

Ethan is a whole different kettle of fish, who is a by the book kind of guy.  Something that Parker isn't. He is also someone who was 100% against adding Parker to his team in the beginning.  But things happen and now he is kind of overprotective of him.  Almost like protecting a younger brother, although as the story unfolds he begins to see more of the strength that Parker has hidden.
There is plenty of action, mystery and danger.  Add to that romance and some pretty hot sex.  There were also some tender moments between Parker and Georgia. Of course the two of them had misunderstandings and some heated arguments. But over time, Parker and Georgia came to understand each other pretty quickly and better than most people ever had.
There is a H.E.A. with one question still unanswered.  The Epilogue helps pull some things together.  But the question remains, Is Georgia's brother Will, dead or alive?  There is an opening for another book and it look Ethan is going to go uncover to get the answers to that very question.  Will had a lot of people who cared about him and Ethan was just one of them.  So more adventures are ahead if you want to go there.

What a great cover for this eBook right?

BOOK REVIEW- HIDDEN (Deep Ops #1) by Rebecca Zanetti

Hidden (Deep Ops) by [Zanetti, Rebecca]
Hide. That's all Pippa can do to escape the terror chasing her. But now that she's off the grid in a safe house, she finds plenty of interesting things to watch through the window. Like her new neighbor, with his startling green eyes, killer smile, and sexy bad-boy tattoo . . .

Run. Malcolm West is fleeing the hell he unleashed in his last assignment as an undercover cop. A backwoods bungalow sounds like the perfect place to start over. Until he discovers he's been set up . . .

Fight. Someone's gone to a lot of trouble to bring them together. No matter how much he resents that, and his own driving needs, Malcolm will have to dig deep and let loose the banished killer inside himself, or Pippa's fears could come true faster than the flip of a bolt in a lock . . .AMAZON 5 STARS

When Pippa spots Malcolm (Mal) she has at least two embarrassing encounters in the beginning.  Both times she was mainly trying to watch things without being seen.  The when they do come face to face, she opens her mouth and says one of the most embarrassing sentences that she could.  Heck, I felt embarrassed for her.  But Malcolm was mainly amused!  The emotions in the story were well expressed and there were plenty of them.
I really liked both of the main characters.  They both had gone through some traumatic things.  And as we read we find out that BOTH of them suffer nightmares.  But there is also a really good romance that develops as does some pretty hot sex between them.
Angus Force, Wolfe, and the psychiatrist Dr. Nari  Zhan are the beginning additions to the team members that Mal is "forced" to work with.  And after awhile a few other interesting people get added to the team as well. Each one of them is a skilled but also really colorful characters.  I think in the book Mal thought of them as an odd team. Which they truly were but they did begin to gel together pretty well.

I loved the unique dog Roscoe.  He made for some funny and unusual moments.  He is full of quirky ways.  Which make him fit in really well with his human counterparts.

The whole story is tense, with all the action that a reader could hope for.  And The Prophet who has been searching for Pippa?  Clever, charismatic, manipulative and cunning. Oh and don't forget cruel!  Nothing is too far for The Prophet to go since he believes he knows the only way.  Any who try to question him or cross him get punished and often disappear. The whole story ratchets up as things come to a head in the last few chapters.  Twists, turns and surprises await as well as an explosive ending.
I really liked that there was an Epilogue added and there was a quick look into another book in this series.  It looks like we get to know more about two of the last people added to the team.   That would be Brigid Banaghan (computer hacker) and her unwelcome but hot handler, Raider Tanaka.  It does look promising and is called "Fallen" the next Requisition novel.
On side note-  I really liked the original way that the book blurb described this book.  The eBook cover caught my attention as well.
I've read several books by this author and found she has quite the way with a story.  She didn't disappoint in this one either.

What an eye opening, thought provoking book.  It's something worthy of more than one run through.  It is well balanced with scripture.  It has opened my eyes deeper into scripture and I am keeping it close by to re-read.  It's going to be right next to my Bible.
I have always felt that a really good safeguard is to know the Bible and the nature and character of God.  I know that takes time and study but this book brought up some things that really got my attention (in a good way)

The Angel's Sword on page 140 really caught my attention.  As did the question about how come some can name every territorial demon over their city but not one can name the territorial ANGELS over those very same cities?  David Herzog brought that question out and I have to say what a great question that is.
Fear has kept us from co-operating/co-laboring with one of the things that God has set in motion FOR us.  Another question that I am still thinking on is..What happened in several of the scriptures where a man fell down and began to worship the angel?  I never thought too much about that but I am now.  Check the reactions in Revelation 19:10 and Revelation  22:8-9.  How did the angel respond?  Paraphrased he said, do not do that..worship God.  So if you are worried about being deceived? Isn't that a good thing to look for?  I do like that Charity included a Spiritual Safeguards section to this book too!  So wise.
The "How to" part  of engaging with angels was very helpful too.
I can't leave this review without mentioning the input of Joe Brock and his experiences with angels and different assignments the Lord sent him on.  It showed some interesting assignments that Joe and the angels co-labored together on.

BOOK REVIEW- SOLD ON A MONDAY by Kristina McMorris

Sold on a Monday: A Novel by [McMorris, Kristina]
2 CHILDREN FOR SALE

The scrawled sign, peddling young siblings on a farmhouse porch, captures the desperation sweeping the country in 1931. It's an era of breadlines, bank runs, and impossible choices.

For struggling reporter Ellis Reed, the gut-wrenching scene evokes memories of his family's dark past. He snaps a photograph of the children, not meant for publication. But when the image leads to his big break, the consequences are devastating in ways he never imagined.

Haunted by secrets of her own, secretary Lillian Palmer sees more in the picture than a good story and is soon drawn into the fray. Together, the two set out to right a wrongdoing and mend a fractured family, at the risk of everything they value.  AMAZON 4.5 STARS

Inspired by an actual newspaper photo that stunned readers across the nation, this touching novel explores the tale within the frame and behind the lens -- a journey of ambition, love and the far-reaching effects of our actions.

I almost passed on this book by because I was afraid it would break my heart.  The picture alone was quite heartbreaking all on its own to me.
Reading this book really did stir the emotions and people were just trying to survive.  I remember my grandmother telling me stories of what some of those times were like and it left a lifelong impact on her.  Not all of it was bad but people who did survive those times later learned to continually be frugal.
There is also the emotional story of not only Ellis but also Lily who is a gofer/do it all secretary to the Editor.  Her duties are many.  But it's the story of her personal life that add to the book. Ellis is not the only one who is struggling over a hidden truth.
Some of the emotion that the author draws you into is the desperation of the times.  That is so well done, in pretty good detailed ways.  Both Ellis and Lily both lived in fear of losing their jobs, it was something that they just couldn't have happen.  They both had other dreams but it so many times had to be put aside for what they hoped was a later time.
The newsroom competitions felt like a pretty good representation of what I think they were like.  A dog-eat-dog atmosphere.
I really liked both Ellis and Lily, whose personal life stories gave the reader a good look into what drove them.  Clayton was another person who figures into the story.  Him, I didn't like quite so much although he did have some good qualities as well.  He just seemed kind of selfish to me.  Of course, there is a Newsroom romance for Lily which tries to pull her between two men.
I'm so glad I keep reading the book although once or twice I wanted to put it down.  Closer to 60% later in the book things just exploded! It really got exciting!  Twists, turns, surprises, secrets, personalities, lies, and dangers went off the charts.  Things really did heat up and not just for Ellis and Lilly. The ending came with a bang and really good ending.  So many things just weren't what they seemed!

I liked the surprise of the Author's Note, which was really good.  So was the Discussion Questions and A Conversation with the Author.   All three things added another depth to the story.

On another note..one of the promotions for this book said, "a picture is worth a thousand words but sometimes the story behind the picture is worth a thousand more".  Wow, did this author ever prove that!

"I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book via Netgalley and this is my honest opinions of it.

BOOK REVIEW- THE DEVIL IN THE DUKE A Revelry’s Tempest Novel by K.J. Jackson

The Devil in the Duke: A Revelry’s Tempest Novel by [Jackson, K.J.]
A man accustomed to hiding secrets.
His dark silver eyes are haunted, and for good reason. Logan Lipinstein lost his wife years ago in the war and has been a living shell of a man ever since, attempting to atone for past sins. Until one fateful day, when she walks past him carrying a basket of bread.

A woman with a lost past.
Sienna Ponstance lives in the comfort of her grandmother's estate, having long ago put herself on the shelf as a spinster. She has her charcoals, the village that she loves, and peaceful days—even if something has always been missing from her life. Until the day her tranquility is shattered when a strange man accosts her as she is walking home from the village.

Love reunited.
His wife—dead for ten years—walked along the path in front of Logan. Scarcely believing his eyes, he approaches her and is quickly rewarded with a rebuff that includes the point of a knife. Sienna has no memory of him, thinking him only a ruffian.

Now he just has to convince her that he actually is her husband. And that their boundless love can conquer anything—including a past that threatens them at every turn. AMAZON 4 STARS

A surprising start to the story.  This was a very emotional read for just  about everyone involved in it. The things that Logan, and Sienna went through.  Whew!  It was pretty intense most of the way through.
Along with Logan's brother Robby, they all had a pretty rough childhood.  One that I am not going to share but let it unfold for you as it did for me.  I will say that Sienna has known them from early childhood.  Well, she did when she had all her memories.

There is at least one person who will do ANYTHING to keep them apart and almost gets his way with that goal.  It definitely caused Sienna and Logan even more suffering than what they had already gone through.
There is plenty of action and running away because of this enemy to their love.
There is a moment or two when Logan and Sienna come together as a married couple.  Translation?  I mean that there are several heated sexual encounters between them.  Married sex in other words.
The story concludes with an explosion of confrontation with a surprising ending.
There is a H.E.A.  but my gosh, they sure did earn it.  They had a few people who stood by them who made for interesting secondary characters.

"I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book and this my honest opinion of it.

BOOK REVIEW- JACK by Stella Marie Alden

Gorgeous Dr. Smythe has an office on Fifth Ave and I’m the hired help, a glorified bouncer with a gun. I knew her trip to Utah was a bad idea so I tagged along. My focus should’ve been on keeping the psychologist safe but every time she touched me, I lost it. Something about her naïve innocence, coupled with her brilliant mind, captivated me. Then, when I let her in, I realized we both were damaged, maybe beyond repair.
With a past like ours, is love too much to ask?
Jack, one of the supporting characters in ‘Busted Play’,  gets his own woman in this full-length standalone novel. Intended for mature audiences there’s explicit language and some violence. Contains no cheating and a well-deserved, smoking hot, HEA.  AMAZON 4 STARS

A good tense story with great main characters.  Both Jack and the good doctor, Blakely (Blake) have had quite the roller-coaster childhood.  Both totally different but still totally dysfunctional all the same.  It's one of the reasons that Blake went into the profession that she did.  Oh, she's good at it but she is still trying to work out how to deal with her own emotions.   Especially when it comes to dealing with men.
Blake wants, no needs to know the truth about her sister and she puts herself in considerable danger more than once.
Jack was attracted to Blake right from the get go and when they first met it made for quite the dramatic start to the book.  Jack is also good at his job.  He is tough, skilled and also a born protector. His skills saved both of them more than once.
When Blake confronts her past, it really makes danger come to the forefront and the drama it causes is well done.  Be prepared for a surprise or two concerning that.
Also be prepared for a misunderstanding or two between Blake and Jack because come on, we are talking about two damaged people trying to wade through emotions.
Yes, there will be hot sex between the two of them and a H.E.A. as promised.   They also have a supporting cast of some good people to help them get there to that H.E.A.

I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest opinion of it.

BOOK REVIEW- TAKEOFF (Seth Walker Book 1) by Joseph Reid

Takeoff (Seth Walker Book 1) by [Reid, Joseph]
Still reeling from a devastating personal tragedy, air marshal turned investigator Seth Walker embarks on his first case. All he has to do is accompany female pop star Max Magic to Los Angeles and deliver her to the FBI. But when their routine flight ends in a hail of gunfire at LAX, Walker has no choice but to take the frightened diva on the run.
After a second attack leaves him battered and bloody, Walker realizes he cannot trust the FBI. To keep his client alive, he must use a patchwork of trusted aviation contacts to get her home to Austin, where the key suspects await.
But as they race to stay one step ahead of their deadly pursuers, the biggest danger of all may be what they’re heading toward—the dark secrets that Max herself has been keeping…AMAZON 5 +STARS

Dramatic start from the very beginning pages. And it was action, action, action all the way after that.  It kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through. It had twists, turns, surprises and plenty of dangers.

I liked the unusual appearance of Seth Walker, he was not the usual cookie cutter style air marshal turned investigator.  And I liked that even though he appeared to  be unconventional guy, he was also an honorable one.  The more the story went on, the more I liked him. I liked his quirks and his engineering intelligence all backed up with quite a few patents.  Even the fact that he had hit a dry spell when it came to drawing up something new.  It made him even a more well rounded person.  It didn't take long to be rooting for him.  He also had some interesting friends and acquaintances who added support and flair to the story. Because of some of the issues that crop up in the book it is definitely a book for adults.
Max Magic, oh dear that girl was messed up!  A couple of times I almost typed that her name was "Mad" Max.  But as her "story" starts to unfold, you can begin to see why.  But there will be plenty of deceit, cover-ups and flat out using of her before those truths come out.
I usually like my stories of action thrillers with a romance in it but to be honest, this one just kept going so strong, I barely even missed it.  Part of that might have been because there definitely was emotions of affection, and caring demonstrated in the book.

I hope to read another book by this author because I really enjoyed this one. I thought the author did a great job when it came to the details of every place Seth went just to name one.  He actually did a great job when it came to the details of planes and battles.  I guess that is called good world building.   Who knows maybe in the future Seth will get his romance in another one of the books in the series?   Although, he has suffered losses of people he cared about and loved.

BOOK REVIEW- THEY SPEAK WITH OTHER TONGUES by John Sherrill

They Speak with Other Tongues: A Skeptic Investigates This Life-Changing Gift by [Sherrill, John]
More than fifty years ago, a reporter for Guideposts magazine set out to gather information about a strange new occurrence happening all over the country. John Sherrill, a skeptic when it came to speaking in tongues and the baptism with the Holy Spirit, was determined to retain his objectivity while digging out the facts. What he found would change his life.

With more than 2.5 million copies sold, this classic work is the story of one man's journey from skepticism to a life-changing relationship with God. Filled with historical and biblical accounts of speaking in tongues, this is also the deeply personal and moving story of how you, too, can walk in the power of the Spirit day by day.

Now includes a new epilogue and update on how to lean on the Holy Spirit for unity in an increasingly divisive world.  AMAZON  4 STARS

I liked the fact that this author started out as a skeptic, which may sound like an unusual sentence coming from a Christian.  But to me, it gives the opportunity to a balanced examination. I believe this author went into it with a honest desire to be an objective observer.  Which I think he accomplished along with his wife, Tib's input as well.

I was amazed to be able to hear stories of heroes of the faith that I had not heard of before. Of course, I know that there are so many people who have done great things for God that we don't know of.  Why did I call them heroes of faith?  Because they often gave up everything to go forward in what they believed to be true.  And  in these cases it went against the mainstream opinions.  There was more than one example of the hostility that later came against those that spoke in tongues.  It was shameful how supposedly godly people (ordained ministers, elders of a church and even lawmen) were used to threaten and try to stop them from gathering.
I didn't know that a man, Charles F. Parham (a Methodist minister) founded a school that helped spread the Pentecostal message.  And out one of those schools an ordained minister(Seymour) became such a prominent figure when Azusa Street revival broke out.  Now Azusa and Seymour I had heard of, but the time before that was news to me. So it was really good to read about more church history.
I especially enjoyed the impact David du Plessis and his experiences had on the author.  There were quite a few really good people who added to the author's journey. It was also a journey that included searching the scriptures which were included.  And there were quite a few helpful tips added as well.
I was so glad that there was an Epilogue, it was quite the journey.  And this Epilogue was a really good way to end it.  I found some of it really powerful!  In the end, it is up to each reader what to make of what they have read.

You Never Let Go - Matt Redman (with lyrics)

BOOK REVIEW- CHOSEN Book #1 by D.G. Swank

Chosen: Chosen #1 (The Chosen) by [Swank, Denise Grover]
**Updated to include the short story Emergence.**

Everything Emma Thompson owns fits in a suitcase she moves from one roach infested motel to another. She and Jake, her five year old son who can see the future, are running from the men intent on taking him. Emma will do anything to protect him even when it means accepting the help of a stranger named Will. Jake insists she needs Will, but Emma’s never needed help before. And even though she’s learned to trust her son, it doesn’t mean she trusts Will.

Mercenary Will Davenport lives in the moment. Hauling Emma to South Dakota should have been an easy job, but his employer neglected to tell him about Emma’s freaky son and the gunmen hot on her trail. Instinct tells him this job is trouble, but nothing can prepare him for Jake’s proclamation that Will is The Chosen One, who must protect Emma from the men hunting her power. A power she doesn't know she has.

Will protects Emma and Jake on a cross-country chase from the men pursuing them, while struggling with memories from his past, his apprehension of Jake, and his growing attraction to Emma. Will’s overwhelming urge to protect Emma surprises him, especially since it has nothing to do with his paycheck and possibly everything to do with the tattoo Jake branded on his arm. Rich and powerful men are desperate to capture Emma, and Will must discover why before it's too late.   AMAZON  4.5 STARS

To begin with let me just say how much I loved the fierce artwork on this eBook cover.  It really captured my attention.  The book blurb did a good job of catching my attention too.
The story proved to be intense.  Not just a little bit intense but high level intense.  Emma's love for her son is so strongly felt that you just know she will do whatever she has to in order to protect him. And then she does.
Will is a very much unknown quantity at first when he shows up in her life.  And she sure wishes that Jake would stop saying that they needed him.  She doesn't trust him and inch and tries many times to just ditch him. But then Jake takes up that same refrain that "they needed him."
Will is the first to say he wasn't a good man and owns up to fact that he's done bad things.  However when Jake looks deep into him he sees that Will can be trusted and IS a good man.
This is often a pretty emotional story and not just from trying to escape from what Jake calls, "the bad men."  There seems to be plenty of those and they are ruthless, clever and relentless. There is also some mystical stuff going on.
There isn't what I would call a H.E.A. in this book but there is a kind of a relief for the moment for Book #1.  Yes, this is a series so there are a lot of unanswered questions and more troubles to sort out.  All heading to what I hope is a H.E.A.  It does look promising from some of the other reviews that I have read about Book #4.

BOOK REVIEW- Brave New Earl (The Way to a Lord's Heart) by Jane Ashford

Brave New Earl (The Way to a Lord's Heart) by [Ashford, Jane]
An Earl mired in melancholy is no match for a determined woman...
Widower Benjamin Romilly, Earl of Furness, has given up hope of finding happiness. His wife died in childbirth five years ago, leaving him with a broken heart and a child who only reminds him of his loss.
Miss Jean Saunders is a cousin by marriage. She doted on Benjamin's late Countess, and can't bear it when she hears rumors that the Earl is too bereaved to care for his young son. She arrives on the scene to evaluate his fitness as a father, and if necessary, to take his son away.
Jean's sudden eruption into the Earl's household simultaneously infuriates and invigorates him. She may be the only person who can breathe life into his neglected home—and his aching heart..
.AMAZON  3 STARS

It had good main characters as well as an interesting cast of supporting people too.  One of those had to be Benjamin's running wild five year old son, Geoffrey.  He really did add some wild adventures for a boy so young.  And he's smart as well as mischievous.  The only one who really seemed to be able to get him to anything that looked like obedience was Tom.  A young boy who  had come along in his wanderings and befriended Geoffrey.  They made quite the interesting pair.
Arthur adds to the story as Benjamin's well meaning uncle.  An uncle who was worried about his nephew and his great-nephew.  It ended up causing him to stir things up a bit when the opportunity came up.  He was hoping that what he started would really help all of them.
Jean has had her share of horrors from the very youngest part of her childhood.  But she has fought and rose up from most of it to make a life that she wanted.  And it got quite emotional when you see how much she did have to overcome.
It was a somewhat charming story that ran at a somewhat slowed pace for the most part.

I thought I should mention though that this eBook had a really attractive cover.

BOOK REVIEW- THE CHRISTMAS STAR (Christmas Hope) by Donna VanLiere

The Christmas Star: A Novel (Christmas Hope) by [VanLiere, Donna]
Thirty-two-year-old Amy Denison volunteers at Glory’s Place, an after school program where she meets seven-year-old Maddie, a precocious young girl who has spent her childhood in foster care. Unbeknownst to Amy, Maddie is a mini-matchmaker, with her eye on just the right man for Amy at Grandon Elementary School, where she is a student. Amy is hesitant – she’s been hurt before, and isn’t sure she’s ready to lose her heart again – but an unexpected surprise makes her reconsider her lonely lifestyle.
As Christmas nears and the town is blanketed in snow and beautiful decorations, Maddie and the charming staff at Glory’s Place help Amy to see that romance can be more than heartache and broken promises.  AMAZON  4 STARS

This was a charming, sweet but also emotional story.  I fell in love with seven-year-old Maddie much like many of the other people in the book.  To me she was the star of the story with the rest of the people satellites around her.
Amy is one of those people quickly charmed by Maddie.  She can see that life has not been easy of Maddie.  It hasn't killed Maddie's zest for life though.  And she often sees the best in people and often brings out that best in people.
Gabe works as a custodian at Glory's Place.  He is also one of those people that Maddie helps become more of his real self.  The more tender side of himself that he didn't realize that he had.
It was fun to watch the relationship between Maddie, Amy and Gabe develop.  There is a surprise twist coming that I didn't see coming but added another level of depth to the story.
Lauren and Travis have their story included as part of the story and it is woven into the people of the community.  A community that has basically "adopted" Lauren.  Lauren has her part to play with Glory's Place too, so it's not a side story at all.  Like I said, it is a part of the story. And as the story goes on you will begin to see the ways that it unexpectedly connects with other main people in the story.
Glory is a woman with a big heart and it even includes her  friend Miriam.  Miriam who often says things that she shouldn't, causing hurt and problems because they come out harsh and thoughtless.  Glory calls her on it every time and that led to some humorous conversations.  They kind of bicker back and forth. Later we do get to see that there is a tender heart underneath all that British  brashness.
There will be a H.E.A. for Amy and there was also a H.E.A. for Maddie.  It was one I was hoping for although it did come about in a slightly unorthodox way.
If you are wondering, yes God will also play a part in this story. I didn't see that mentioned in the original book blurb.  But if that is not something that you like, don't let it stop you from enjoying this book.  It was definitely a good story of overcoming difficulties.

BOOK REVIEW- ROYAL DESIGN [Kindle in Motion]: A Royals of Monterra # 4 Novella by Sariah Wilson

Thumbnail scroll view image - 1 for Royal Design [Kindle in Motion]: A Royals of Monterra Novella
Bellamy Sullivan’s life is hardly regal. She’s a waitress from Ohio who’s been on her own since she was sixteen, working several jobs while her dreams of being a fashion designer stay just that. But everything changes when PR maven and soon-to-be-royal Lemon Beauchamp drops in to announce that Bellamy is a princess. Unfortunately, Bellamy’s newly assigned bodyguard is the last man she wants to see.
A year ago, the royal family of Monterra tasked Enzo Rannalli with confirming Bellamy’s heritage, which meant he had to get very close to her. Enzo got the confirmation he needed, but he didn’t expect their connection to be so meaningful. And he didn’t expect his sudden departure to break the young princess’s heart.
In exchange for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to kick-start her fashion career, Bellamy agrees to star on a royal reality show that will match her with the world’s most eligible bachelors. But after a series of disastrous dates make her even more grateful for Enzo’s company, she wonders if her fairy-tale ending is waiting to happen off camera.  AMAZON  3 STARS

This was a charming, quick story with interesting main characters.  Bellamy was definitely tossed in over her head when she learns more about her royal parentage.  Here she is a regular, struggling girl, a princess.  It had a tiny bit of the Princess Diaries tinge to it but of course with the twist of  more problems of the more updated influence of reality TV of our modern times. And some other surprises as well.

Enzo remains somewhat of a mystery at first, although it's often clear that he is trying to be honorable as he can be.  Yes, there is a zing of attraction between them but it has to take a backseat for a while.

Lemon is another person in the story, who has been really busy pulling things together.  Things like royal reality show, and a possible way for Bellamy to pursue her dreams when it comes to being a fashion designer.  She has also been busy in other areas but it doesn't become clear until later what some of that way. And also there is the question of what are her real goals?  And will they benefit just her and maybe Monterra?  Is she on Bellamay's side or not?

There will be a H.E.A. but of course, there will be some misunderstandings before they get there.

On a different note, this is the first book that I have read as a Kindle in Motion. It's kind of brand new for me so I'm not sure if I liked it or not.  I will say that I did think that it was pretty well done.  I could read the lips of both Bellamy and Enzo when they appeared on screen.  It didn't feel cheesy or overdone.  You know like people can pantomime in such a way that you cringe?  I didn't feel that way about it.  The words they were saying did appear under them too.  I also liked the fact that you had the option to turn that part off if you wanted to.
