BOOK REVIEW- AVANT NATION

BOOK-Avant Nation- Clara Spinner's genetic code, occupation and expiration date have been predetermined by the government. So when her innermost desires conflict with her rigidly planned life, she must hide them or risk losing everything.
Fresh out of the academy, Clara loathes her new assignment as a medical technician, but those who complain tend to disappear, so what can she do? Determined to make the best of the situation, she works hard to become one of the top techs at the hospital, specializing in the field of memory retrieval. It isn't long before her skills catch the attention of the military. After she's recruited for a top secret mission across enemy lines, Clara retrieves a memory nobody was supposed to see. Suspense with a touch of romance—Avant Nation will take you on a wild ride into the near future.   Amazon Link
Great story; it didn't disappoint.  It was eerie in the fact that the government controlled so much of their lives.  Wait no that's not right, they controlled everything!  Science ruled everything as well, no babies were born, they were produced and considered product. They belonged to the Nation.   They were educated while in the glass incubator of sorts; from from the time they were made, until the time they come out.  Then they are assigned to a "family".  I'm just giving a taste of some of the strange world Clara lives in, Avantica.  Strange and quite scary too.   I think the author did a great job of painting that world and all its craziness really well. The different types of people were so well written and imaginative.  I glanced down at my reader and realized at 25% of the pages that I read, it had covered so much of that world and drawn me in so neatly. I was surprised.
Loved, Clara and her sister Simone and even Hawk who had more going for him than you think at first.   Don't even get me started about people being made with expiration dates!!  And Algorithms?  I hated then when I began to understand that it was the value that was put upon someone's life- they used it to see if you were woth keeping alive if you were injured or seriously ill.   If you were deemed a Defective, your value plunged to Zero.   I ended up hating it even more as I saw it through Clara's eyes, in different situations.
Oh, did I mention there is a war going on?  It's a civil war between the Avantica nation and the Liberty Union Democracy (L.U.D).  That is what they are talking about when they are on a mission behind enemy lines.
There are some twists and turns in the story, but watch for the ones at the end...there's a couple of Big Ones. This story ends with a few happy moments...for now at least.  But not every problem is solved, so it looks like there is a possible opening for another book of adventure.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
