Are You Running on Empty? By Roger Webb

Are You Running on Empty?
One would never think of driving a car on an empty tank of gas and expect to get very far. If you don’t stop by the gas station and tank up you will soon find yourself sitting along side of the road stranded and usually upset that you have done such a thing.
Many Christians go for long periods of time and never open up their bibles. How can one expect to grow in the things of God when you have not taken time to be with Him as He speaks to you through His Word? You can also rest assured you will get stuck in life when you put aside your bible for it to collect dust. Dusty bibles, dusty lives. Many fall into the trap of neglecting the word of God usually by mental reasoning and hard places we find ourselves in. The very thing one needs most is usually the first thing one sits aside. One day leads into the next and first thing you know you have gone months without reading the Word. The Lord will often lead us into situations in order to teach us His ways but we often fail and find ourselves going around and around the same old mountain year after year when we should have know better by now. We are much like the children of Israel stuck in a wilderness then blaming God for our shortcomings. They blamed God for everything they got themselves into but once they repented and turned back towards God they saw one victory after the other.
You will find your prayer life is affected by not spending time in the Word. You get to feeling what’s the use of praying for it seems it doesn’t work and God really doesn’t care. You will find you will start listening to the lies of the enemy and fall into his trap. The next thing you will find is your faith is greatly affected because faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. It’s impossible to have mountain moving faith or even molehill moving faith when you are running on empty. How can you stand in faith for anything when you have not been feeding it? You see, your prayer life becomes very shallow because you have nothing for it to stand upon. Lack of the word, lack of faith it’s as simple as that.
Our attitudes are greatly affected when the Word has been neglected. You see every area of your life lacks when the Word is lacking. Well by now I hope you get my point. It’s time for you to once again open up your bible and feed your faith and starve your doubts and watch as the Lord works wonders for you in every area of your life.
Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You. Blessed are You, O Lord! Teach me Your statutes. With my lips I have declared all the judgments of Your mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, As much as in all riches. I will meditate on Your precepts, And contemplate Your ways. I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word. www.rogerwebb.org
