    Description

Dogs are better behaved than people in this new cozy mystery where a pet behaviorist finds herself the prime suspect in an upscale murder, perfect for fans of Eva Gates and Victoria Gilbert.

Nikki Jackson-Ramanathan is struggling to get her pet behaviorist business off the ground, making ends meet as a dog walker while keeping her eyes peeled for greener pastures. An appointment in a rich suburb of Saint Louis seems to be her ticket to success. The wealthy Mrs. Van Meer wants Nikki to help the family’s old hound dog who is grieving the loss of his owner. But then Mrs. Van Meer turns up dead.

With a multitude of suspects like the sketchy landscaper, the judgy housekeeper, and the rest of Mrs. Van Meer’s money-obsessed family members, Nikki’s happy to sit back and let the police solve the crime. Until she learns that Mrs. Van Meer’s will leaves Nikki in charge of a sizable amount of money and the police start dogging her every step.

Life would be a lot easier if she just had to deal with the animals, but Nikki resolves to catch the real culprit and convince the cops they’re barking up the wrong tree.

5 STARS MY REVIEW TITLED: Hilarious and Deadly

The catchy title of this book and the colorful eBook cover caught my attention right away.  Nikki Jackson-Ramanathan is just as colorful and also hilarious! Don't forget that she absolutely adored animals especially dogs and that's why she walk them and specializes in being a pet behaviorist. Most people raise an eyebrow or giggle or even think it's a scam when it comes to her being a pet behaviorist.  But animals adore her right back and she gets sucked into walking Reginald for the wealthy Mrs. Van Meer and her nutty, odd, family.  She hates dealing with people but Reginald needs her and that family needs some common sense.  Most of the family hates Nikki and a few think she's a scam artist because she's being paid a huge amount to deal with Reginald.  Who just happens to be an ole' sweetie!
Nikki's husband was an interesting man. He's Eastern Indian and they are both madly in love with each other although he does seem to float back in forth out of her daily life.  Nikki is very creative and does have quiet a few side jobs though ! And Nikki is curious, noisy even and readily admits it. She knows it's going to cause her problems but she still rushes in anyway As a couple, they do get to spend a bit more time together when an animal lover single woman moves in the upper apartment. There's a no animal policy but that sure doesn't stop this friendly, quirky, sunny young woman ! Made me smile. A lot !
Intense investigations, red herrings and a lot of surprises, hilarious situations incur. So does the hilarious self talk and talk to Reginald and other dogs she walks made me grin even more. I loved Nikki and her friends and the ending was spectacular !
I got this book through Netgalley and I'm so glad that I did !
