Mystery & Thrillers
|
Romance
Set against the atmospheric snowy backdrop of rural Pacific Northwest, New York Times
bestselling author Rebecca Zanetti’s edgy, page-turning thriller will
have readers guessing until the very end as rising star FBI profiler
Laurel Snow navigates her career as a serial killer hunter with her
complicated family life. Now she’s in pursuit of a killer with a
chillingly bitter M.O. – one that hits far too close to home…
The Blacklist meets The Profiler in this edgy, gripping thriller that’s perfect for of Laura Griffin and Jayne Ann Krentz!
Men
are dying in the Pacific Northwest, their bodies found near churches,
charities, and counseling centers—each with valentine candy hearts
shoved down their throats. They’re good men with families and community
ties—or so they seem until Laurel Snow and her team begin to
investigate. Then the case takes a shockingly personal turn when the
father she’s never met, a former pastor, turns up among the dead.
Now,
besides solving her father’s murder, Laurel is on the hunt to discover
the truth of his past. Complicating things is Laurel’s troubled
half-sister, Abigail, a brilliant sociopath determined to prove that
they’ve both inherited their father’s malignant narcissism.
Assisting
Laurel is Washington Fish and Wildlife Captain Huck Rivers, a dangerous
loner whose reliance on gut instinct puts him at odds with Laurel’s
coolly analytic approach. But the choice may be moot when the killer
hones in on Huck’s own dark secrets—putting him and Laurel squarely in
the crosshairs.
5 STARS
Once again this author hit all the marks for me. I have been following this series and hope to continue. First off I absolutely adore Laurel. I can also see that she has grown some, which it comes to letting out her big heart as well as her big brain. She's even gained some small ground when it comes to interpreting facial expressions and emotions.
Huck is such a great guy, not only skilled in his job but his understanding in how to interact with Laurel just keeps getting better and better. I so enjoyed the two of them both on their own and together. The romance was good.
Laurel's team had her back, with no hesitation. Laurel also cared about them and it wasn't long before so did I. She had Walter and Kate's back as much as she can. They actually are making an even better team than they were before and before they were pretty darn good.
If you're looking for evil people in this story, there are plenty of those. It caused Laurel to be ultra busy with more people in her investigations. But her main focus is on at least 3 investigations at a time on her white board.
Laurel's half sister is back causing even more headaches for Laurel. She's brilliant, twisted and knows how to use men and others. It's amazing how easily she comes across to people as vulnerable and lost especially when it came to men. She used them and then tossed them away and they still tried to come running back to her.
It was amazing to me how many people were so quick to try to sue Laurel. It was almost amusing although not something that she wasted a lot of time on.
Twists, turns and dangers make for a very full, riveting story. I like how it ended...for now. Do I want more of Laurel, her team and Huck? You betcha.
“I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
